Story
Murphy has been thriving in a foster home - here is what her foster has to say! Murphy is the sweetest, most loyal, protective, and affectionate girl you'll ever find. She's a truly a special dog, who absolutely thrives in a loving home environment. Murphy is smart as a whip, knows several commands, sleeps quietly through the night in her bed, and is fully housebroken. She's a very powerful chewer, but strictly keeps all chewing to her bones only, leaving all of your shoes and furniture completely intact. In fact, she's been a perfectly respectful houseguest, who can be left alone for long stretches with no issues whatsoever. Murphy is a sensitive soul, who forms very deep attachments to her people, which would make her an excellent companion dog. She even gets along pretty well with our resident cat, which is no easy feat!! And to round out her attributes, she adores her walks, and walks very well on a leash. Murphy can be a bit selective with other dogs, but usually comes around and has had many harmonious canine friendships. She isn't a fan of thunder storms or fireworks, but she impressed us with the effective way that she chooses to cope with them! She simply lays down in a closet or other enclosed space, where she feels she has a safe little den to retreat to. She doesn't cry, whine, or tremble; she just relaxes in her little sanctuary until the storm passes, and then returns to her normal routine as if nothing ever happened. Come meet Murphy, and see for yourself what a sweetheart she is! She has so much love to give, and might just be the perfect addition to complete your family!

Story
Gibbs is a sweet, cuddly, and loyal dog. He loves walks, chasing squirrels (has caught two!), going on hikes. He is well trained and does great on a leash. He enjoys spending most of the day sleeping and lounging, but he is also an athletic dog and needs some run around time. He is truly an AWESOME dog, and has a lot of fans in the neighborhood. Heartbreakingly, he is not able to live in our house any longer because he is not comfortable with young children that come over to the house (we now have a 2 year old). He unexpectedly bit a 4 year old, which has pushed us to come to the conclusion he needs a new home, without young children. We are devastated because we love him so much, but this event has made it really clear he doesn't feel good or safe with young children. He would do well in a home with a yard or some land. He will love you so much, and I know you will love him too.

Story
Like your guy to be chiseled, handsome, wise and oh so sweetly soft? Meet Cooper, he`s the whole package. He`ll gently put his paws in your lap to ask for some snuggles. He really shines with people and can share space and play with a canine friend too. He loves leisurely daily walks if that`s in the cards, and doesn`t even pay attention to occasional squirrels and cats. His energy is between low and medium - of course he`s a solid believer in beauty naps. When he has extra energy in the house, he’ll grab a toy or a chew and tackle it. He`s trusted loose at home alone, is non-destructive and is very house trained. He’s shown solid skills with older children in his foster home. Does he sound like just the right fit you`re looking for? Hurry to meet him onsite when in the shelter (check location on his link) or when in foster, use the ADOPT ME button to start a conversation with his foster provider. He`s advocated for by his many friends and fans including ClassicCaninesATX who help make land bridges out of the shelter for displaced mature shelter dogs. Know that your fostering or adopting a shelter animal is vital to Austin`s no kill mission. Don`t delay another day when a shelter dog is waiting to resume their life.

Story
Riven`s foster family reports: Riven is a good dog. Like, literally. Exact definition. He loves to play in the backyard or go on a walk but is also down for a good hang shesh in the living room watching TV or having a snack. When hanging in the back yard, Riven likes to bask in the sun, chew on big sticks, & wander around for the next good scent. When he does get the zoomies, he is super fast! He runs around the yard in giant bounds. Inside, Riven enjoys chewing on a kong or other durable toy. He loves to get lots of pets and is totally down to cuddle when it is quiet.Riven knows most basic commands (sit, stay, drop, come, off) and is crate trained. He happily does almost anything for a treat. He walks well on a leash and loves to stretch his legs. He is mildly reactive towards other dogs when leashed – allowing him a lot of space around other dogs would be good as he and his owner learn how to work through this. Our resident dog thinks that Riven is the bee’s knees and is constantly asking him to play. Although they do play rough at times, it is always respectful and at the first yelp, they will take a break. He has impressed us with his patience and calm demeanor. He is very tuned into his humans, and prioritizes them over distractions (including the resident dog). He has shown to be capable of adaptation to his humans’ needs. He matches energy levels and vibes of the household, and gently tells the resident dog playtime is over by turning his head away and ignoring her.He has a huge head & tiny hips!In short, we love having Riven as a guest in our home! We look forward to him finding his humans and moving into his own forever home.
