Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Dani Rae! Read my bio to find out everything you need to know about me. If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. Dani Rae had an interesting first 4 years of life. She is a purebred English Bloodhound and her family purchased her from a breeder in TX when she was a tiny pup. She came into a loving home to be her Dad’s special girl. Sadly, her Dad passed away and her Mom was not physically able to take care of her. At that time, Dani Rae’s weight had climbed to 160 pounds because she was not getting the exercise she needs to stay healthy. She came to AAMR and we wanted to provide a better life for her and managed to get her into a training program with an agency where she was ‘worked’ daily. She dropped down to 98 lbs over a period of a few months and was the happiest when she was training and running up to 3 miles each day. Unfortunately, she was not able to qualify in some areas of her training and was returned to AAMR, at our request. The word from her trainers is that she would be an amazing search and rescue dog because she LOVES, LOVES, LOVES tracking … and she is good at it! The mental and physical stimulation makes her a happy, happy girl! This girl is so sweet. Typical bloodhound, you will need to invest some time cleaning her eyes and ears daily … and she does drool when she gets excited. But she also gives the best kisses and she loves being with her people and working with her people! She would be a great companion for a hiker, trail runner, or search and rescue handler. She is a gem. Approximate age/birthdate: Aug 19 2017 Weight/size: 97 lbs Housebroken: YES Crate trained: YES Personality: sweet, friendly, loves people Energy level: medium to high … can chill inside and will run like the wind when she is tracking something Fenced yard required?: YES … this girl is a working tracking dog and she will go nose-to-the-ground for miles, so having a 5’-6’ physical fence is required. She could jump a 4’ fence easily. Does he/she jump fences? She has not, but she has the ability Leash walk with manners: YES, but she is strong and will take off on a trail in a second. Obedience training: Knows ‘sit’ but she sometimes she has ‘convenient hearing’ Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK. She actually seems to enjoy riding as long as she does not have to go into a crate. Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES Microchipped: YES Social with other dogs: She definitely prefers people to dogs but she does OK with calm, non-alpha large dogs. She is ‘too curious’ about small dogs and should never be left unsupervised with dogs under 20 lbs, especially yappy ones. Social with cats: NO CATS Good with children: Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up. Remember, she is bigger than most 10 year olds. Adoption donation: $200 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Dani Rae picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
