Meet Donovan — 75 Pounds of Love, Snuggles & Hound-Dog Charm! Some dogs have a rough start in life but still have an endless amount of love to give. Donovan is one of those special souls.
This handsome 1–2-year-old Bluetick Coonhound weighs about 75 pounds and has quite a story. When his owner's house burned down in Window Rock, Donovan was left behind. For months, kind people in the community fed him, but he was so frightened that nobody could get close enough to catch him. Finally, a kind local woman began making frequent trips to feed him and slowly earn his trust. Her persistence paid off and she was able to bring him home. She's been fostering him ever since!
Today, Donovan is a sweet, affectionate, playful, full-fledged love bug who adores his people and loves nothing more than snuggling close. He's wonderful with other dogs, curious about cats and a little shy when meeting new people. He's also still building his confidence on leash, so he'll appreciate a family willing to help him learn that the world isn't such a scary place after all.
And here's the really good news: Donovan is 100% house trained! He has free rein of his foster home while his foster mom is at work and has been well behaved and non-destructive. He's curious about toys and household goings-on, but so far, he's been a very good boy.
Donovan can manage stairs and loves hopping onto the bed for some quality cuddle time. He's welcome to join the resident dog, Bodhi, on the bed, although he usually chooses his own dog bed just outside his foster mom's bedroom, alongside another foster pup. For a 75-pound guy, Donovan has lovely manners around people and doesn't jump up on them.
Donovan has been through more than any young dog should have to endure, yet he's blossomed into a loving, trusting companion. We love this boy dearly and can't wait to find him a family who will cherish him forever. He deserves a home where he'll never be left behind again — just lots of love, cozy snuggles, dog friends and a lifetime of feeling safe.
