Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Whiskey Glasses finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Whiskey Glasses | 4–5-Month-Old Lab/Catahoula Mix | Brown-Eyed Goofball with a Snuggly Side At 4–5 months old and about 20 pounds, Whiskey Glasses is a handsome brown Lab/Catahoula mix with a playful spirit and a surprisingly cuddly streak. He’s equal parts adventure buddy and under-the-covers snuggler — he happily burrows in and shows his belly for rubs when he’s feeling cozy. Whiskey is making steady progress with house training but isn’t quite there yet. He doesn’t signal when he needs to go out, so consistency and routine will help him continue improving. Crate training is going well overall — he may need a little encouragement to go in and can whine at first, but he settles down and sleeps through the night. He has also been left home (with another dog) for short periods and does okay after a little initial fussing. He walks fairly well on leash, though he can pull, and he has medium-to-high energy typical of a young pup. He’d thrive with regular walks, playtime, or even hikes, and then he’s happy to relax once he’s gotten his exercise. He loves toys, bones, car rides — and unfortunately has a particular fondness for shoes if they’re left unattended. He’s motivated by food, toys, and affection, and he’s responding well to structure and boundaries in his foster home. Whiskey has had positive interactions with dogs, cats (he wants to play), and children of all ages. He’s friendly, submissive, playful, and very sweet. Like many puppies, he’s still working through play biting, jumping, and some mischievous behavior when left alone, so continued training and supervision will be important. His ideal home would include another dog to play with and help show him the ropes. With guidance, exercise, and love, Whiskey is going to grow into a loyal, fun-loving companion.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $475 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit). Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
