Story
A handsome face, a gentle heart, and the kind of soulful eyes that make you feel like he can see straight into your soul. This boy is the whole package and is ready to shine with a family of his own!
Star is an incredibly sweet, gentle, and tolerant guy who has already shown his foster family just how wonderful he is. Baths, nail trims, ear cleanings, paw massages? He handles them all like a champ. He loves cuddling and making deep eye contact with his favorite people, and he may even try to wrap you up in a hug! His hugs can get a little enthusiastic, so his foster family is helping him learn to keep all four paws on the floor.
He's also a quick learner who catches on to household rules remarkably fast. In just a week, Star figured out the no-dogs-on-the-couch rule and rarely needs a reminder. He's potty trained with no indoor accidents, walks beautifully on leash without pulling, and has done great on hikes and outings to dog-friendly stores. He stays close to his person when out and about, earning plenty of compliments along the way for being such a handsome guy.
Star loves other dogs and children, and he has a playful side to match his gentle nature. He's currently learning "sit" and "come," and he's already making great progress. He also enjoys working his brain with an Orbee toy, which makes mealtime a fun little challenge. At night, he's quiet and settled in his kennel, though he can be a little hesitant about going inside.
He's looking for a family that will continue helping him learn, build on his good manners, and enjoy all the adventures ahead. He doesn't seem to know his current name yet, so if you've been dreaming of naming your new best friend, you can make it official!
Whether you're looking for a hiking buddy, a playful companion for the kids, a friend for your resident dog, or simply a sweet soul to share your couch-side cuddles (once invited!), Star could be your guy. He's ready to keep learning, growing, and loving his way into a family's heart. Could Star be the missing piece in yours?
They were rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas.
Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events!
We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently.
Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by using the link in their approval email. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog.
If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded.
Adoption fees are non refundable once a pet is taken home.
Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets.
The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up in Colorado, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances delaying pick up.
Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.
