Online Adoption Application › Meet Myla Myla is a beautiful Bluetick Coonhound rescued in September 2024 from Cumberland County Shelter in Fayetteville, NC, where she was on the euthanasia list.  Myla is an enthusiastic, smart, and affectionate hound who loves to communicate her excitement with her bay. She is highly food-motivated, enjoys learning, and does best with structure and enrichment. She is not aggressive but does have some behavioral sensitivities, including frustration with barriers and noise sensitivity. She is actively working with the NC State Behavioral Medicine team and has completed a board-and-train at Green Beagle Lodge. All professional reports can be shared. Myla loves other dogs, lives well with a small dog, was respectful of a free-roam indoor bunny, and tested indifferent to cats at the shelter. She has a sensitive stomach and eats Purina HA prescription kibble. Myla would thrive in a committed, structured home with someone who understands hounds and enjoys training. Story
Confiscated by Animal Control after being found in a garage with five other dogs. His hold at our city shelter was 2 weeks to give owners a chance to reclaim him but thank goodness they didn’t. He was severely underweight and has spent the last few weeks fattening up! Despite being skin & bones, he’s been a sweetheart since day 1. Intentionally named, Sherlock explores everything with his nose and is quick to figure things out including where the food is and how to use the doggy door. Understandably, his favorite place to be is in the kitchen where he hopes to find food left unattended on the counter. He is rather sensitive about sharing so should other dogs be in the house, it’s best to feed completely separately. He is a bit of a busy bee in the house, always scanning for something to see or do. However, Sherlock does enjoys chilling with his humans, especially after an outdoor adventure. He is very dog friendly and would likely wear out even faster if his foster brother was more playful. He will occasionally pick up a toy and toss it haphazardly, entertaining himself and he enjoys a leisurely neighborhood walk every so often. It’s very much in his nature to let you know if he spots a squirrel or outdoor cat. Then he will gladly relax on the couch afterwards or seek pets from his people. He loves people, including meeting strangers while out and about. He’s a “leaner” if you know what I mean. He absolutely does have quite the hound howl which he uses for a few minutes initially in his crate before settling in. Sherlock is ready to solve the biggest mystery of all—finding his forever home! He is UTD on vaccines, kept on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, neutered & microchipped. His adoption fee is $350. Meet Oreo! Don’t I have the prettiest brown eyes? I’m your brown eyed girl. I am a 35 pound hound that is the perfect size. I am about 2-3 years old and I absolutely love dogs. I am a little shy, but I am warming up to the people in my life. I will need a quiet home with another dog who can teach me the ropes. I will follow it around and do what it does. I can be quite playful once I feel safe. I shouldn’t go to a home with young kids who will scare me. I will thrive in a home with a fenced in yard, another dog, patient people with predictable routines that I can trust. If you adopt me and give me time to earn your trust, I will blossom. This handsome fella came into the shelter as a stray on November 8, 2025, and when no one came to reclaim him, he began his search for a loving home and the perfect “gotcha day.” Burger King is a happy, affectionate 5-year-old who loves spending time outside—playing, exploring, sniffing around, and soaking up attention from his human friends. He especially loves playing fetch with a rope toy!! He’s also known to let his voice be heard when he gets excited, adding to his charming personality. He is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, and ready for his next chapter. Burger King would thrive in a home with a fenced-in yard, where he can run and play during the day before settling in comfortably with his family at night. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to write. I love this dog with my whole heart, but I have run out of options. I've had Bailey since she was 9 months to a year and a half old (the vets were unsure). She was a rescue from Iredell animal control. I've had her since October 2018. She is my best friend, and we have been through so much together. Unfortunately, I am no longer in a situation where she can be healthy and happy. For financial reasons, we had to move into a tiny apartment in the city. She hates it here. The loud noises, the tight quarters, the busy streets; it's so bad for her, and I simply do not have the means to fix this. A new home - she needs to be an only dog. She was fine with others for years but was attacked and has never recovered from that - she needs space to run around—ideally a fenced backyard. - she needs literally all of the cuddles. All she wants is to be close to you. - she has lived with cats twice and been fine with them even after the dog issues
