Story
Newly Rescued, Currently in Foster. This girl was just pulled from the shelter and is now settling into a foster home while we get to know her. New places take some adjusting to, so we're going slow- letting her decompress, feel safe, and show us who she really is on their own timeline. We'll share more as we learn more. For now, she's safe, she's resting, and that's exactly where she needs to be. helplesshounds.com/adoption-application

Story
Meet Abby- This beautiful 6 year old bluetick girl ended up at a rural shelter during a storm. She's been staying with a foster family for the past month, and by all accounts she made herself right at home. She figured out the bell system on the doors and now rings the front door bell when she's ready for a walk or a car ride. She's not subtle about what she wants, and honestly, that's part of the charm. Abby is a people-dog through and through. She loves everybody, happily cuddles with adults and older kids alike, and is comfortable enough in her surroundings to fall asleep on the couch and snore. Loudly, presumably, because she's a bluetick and they commit to everything. Cats are a no, and she prefers to be the only dog in the home. She's been around kids 10 and up without any issues. She does pull on leash when she's excited, but settles into a routine well- she just needs someone consistent to establish one with her. Abby is crate trained and working on her house training. She does get nervous during storms, so a patient home that'll let her ride it out inside is important. She's an easy dog to love. She just needs a home that has enough room in the routine for a few extra car rides and couch naps. Abigail is currently in foster in Tulsa, OK and is adoptable anywhere in the country. helplesshounds.com/adoption-application

Story
Maybell is a 2 year old Bluetick Coonhound who was picked up as a stray- everything we know about her, we're learning fresh, right alongside you. She seems to be familiar with "sit" and already has a handle on the housebreaking basics- not bad for a girl with no known history. She's good with strangers, but takes a little time to warm up to new dogs, so a patient introduction goes a long way with her. Cats are a hard pass- she'll give one a sniff, then back off and let the whole neighborhood know about it. Maybell is quiet, a little shy at first, and figuring out the world one new experience at a time. She'd do best in an active home with a yard, no cats, and people willing to let her come out of her shell on her own schedule. helplesshounds.com/adoption-application

Story
These six puppies arrived the old-fashioned way: a neighbor's dog, a fence that did not do its one job, and two very young hound mamas who absolutely did not sign up for this. Technically these pups come from two litters- some born to a redtick, some to a bluetick, all within a couple weeks of each other- so they're half siblings raised in one big pile and being counted as one crew. Dad was a lab mix who has not returned our calls. They're roughly four months old, with ears too big for their heads and a lot of growing left to do. They've never met a stranger- good with other dogs, easy around kids- even little ones as young as 1-2 years old- and operating under the firm belief that every new person is just a friend who hasn't introduced themselves yet. They're curious, busy, and happiest with room to roam and a person willing to keep up. If one of them sounds like your kind of trouble, let us know! This whole litter is currently in foster in Tulsa, OK and is adoptable anywhere in the country. helplesshounds.com/adoption-application

I was brought in by the public. I can be shy at first, then a social sweet girl that seems to get along with other dogs well. I am easy going, sweet natured. I appear to have an old injury that doesn't affect me at all.

Story
Meet Burger Jean King. It took two days, a lot of grilled burgers, and a tennis court to finally catch her. She'd been running loose in traffic and had no plans of stopping for anyone. She's cautious with new people at first- she'll check you out, take her time, and decide later whether you're worth the effort. Cats, on the other hand, don't even register. She'll walk right past one like it's furniture. For a hound, that's practically a party trick. Other dogs are where she really comes alive. No hesitation, no assessment period- she just likes them, immediately and completely. Burger is a good girl. Housebroken, crate trained, and currently negotiating the terms of "sit," fine being left alone for a normal workday, and good with kids of any age. What she's after is a home with another dog already in it and someone patient enough to let her warm up on her own timeline. She spent her early life running from things. She'd like to stop running and start staying. Burger Jean King is currently being fostered in Chanute, KS and is adoptable anywhere in the country. helplesshounds.com/adoption-application
