Story
Meet Abby- This beautiful 6 year old bluetick girl ended up at a rural shelter during a storm. She's been staying with a foster family for the past month, and by all accounts she made herself right at home. She figured out the bell system on the doors and now rings the front door bell when she's ready for a walk or a car ride. She's not subtle about what she wants, and honestly, that's part of the charm. Abby is a people person through and through. She loves everybody, happily cuddles with adults and kids alike, and is comfortable enough in her surroundings to fall asleep on the couch and snore. Loudly, presumably, because she's a bluetick and they commit to everything. She's dog-friendly and would love a dog friend to run around with. Cats are a no, and she's been around kids 10 and up without any issues. She does pull on leash when she's excited, but settles into a routine well- she just needs someone consistent to establish one with her. Abby is crate trained and working on her house training. She does get nervous during storms, so a patient home that'll let her ride it out inside is important. She's an easy dog to love. She just needs a home that has enough room in the routine for a few extra car rides and couch naps.

Story
Jack Ryan guy is a big handsome Bluetick Coonhound with a true hound heart and plenty of personality. He knows how to relax indoors but lights up when there's something interesting to see, chase, smell, or do. Jack is a high-drive hound who does best when his brain and body are kept busy. He has a strong chase instinct and needs a fenced yard and an active lifestyle, including things like enrichment activities like scent work, long walks, or a playful buddy to keep him engaged and content. Without a job to do, he might try to invent one on his own- like deciding he's responsible for neighborhood traffic patrol. For Jack Ryan, a home that understands hound instincts and can safely channel them is important. He's housebroken, trustworthy at home, and happiest with consistency, activity, and a little purpose in his day. He really loves to chase cars, so he will require an adopter with a securely fenced yard for his safety, as well as the patience to train that impulse out of him. If you're looking for a beautiful dog with classic hound charm and just the right amount of spark, Jack Ryan says hi. https://www.adoptapet.com/shelter/281102-helpless-hounds-st-louis-area-foster-st-louis-missouri

Story
Cedric spent seven years as a loved family dog, and the only reason he's here is that his family is moving out of state. That's it. That's the whole story. He came from a home with kids as young as newborns, knows his basic commands, graduated obedience school, and is crate trained. He's friendly with strangers, does well with other dogs, and can be left alone without incident. For a hound, he's pretty reasonable. Day to day, Cedric is calm and easygoing. He's not high-maintenance, doesn't have a list of issues, and seems genuinely unbothered by most things. His feelings on cats are unknown, so a home without them or one willing to do a careful introduction would be the safer call. He would do best with room to move around, so a yard or some outdoor access would go a long way for him. Cedric is a straightforward, good boy in a situation he didn't ask for. He's ready for someone to give him a couch to come home to.

Story
Chipmunk is a young dog with a big personality hiding behind some very intense eyes. When he first meets new people he can be a little nervous and prefers to observe from nearby rather than jump right into the action. He's the kind of dog who likes a moment to figure things out. The good news is that Chip is highly motivated by snacks, and a handful of treats or kibble is really all it takes to start making friends. Once he realizes you're safe, his sweet and goofy personality starts to come out. He's an energetic boy with plenty of puppy energy and a bit of endearing clumsiness as he continues to figure out his long legs. He absolutely loves treats chewing on a good bone, enjoys a porch snooze, and is happiest when he's playing with his dog friends or hanging out close to his people. Chipmunk has settled in beautifully with dogs of all ages, sizes, and play styles and really enjoys having dog friends around. He's the kind of dog who requires a playmate- he will need to go to a home with at least one other dog. He also does extraordinarily well in his crate and has been comfortable relaxing there with something to chew on. The most special thing about Chip, other than how soft his fur is, is getting to watch him open up. At first he may quietly hang back and take everything in, but as he grows comfortable his silly, snuggly, affectionate side starts to shine. Earning his trust is incredibly rewarding, and once you do, you've got yourself a loyal, joyful little shadow who is thrilled just to be near you. Chipmunk is looking for a patient home that will give him a little time to settle in and the chance to show just how soft he really is. Chipmunk MUST go to a home with at least one other dog.

Bloodhound

Male, Adult
Tulsa, OK
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Ruckus has a very sweet temperament. He seems like he's looking to please people. Responds quickly to his name, entertains himself with toys or squirrel chasing or a nap on the couch. He loves to wrestle and play keep away with sticks or toys. Curious about what's on the counter, but disciplined enough not to jump up and find out. Wild on walks because he's got his nose to the ground and there's smells everywhere. No accidents in the house and no destruction, even when left alone for a few hours. He is housebroken, crate trained, and knows basic commands. He does show some resource guarding behaviors around his food and will need to be fed separately from other dogs. Ruckus can be protective until he understands a new person is welcome, but he is very friendly once comfortable. He would do best in a home with a bigger yard that has space to roam.
