You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.      Hello, wonderful souls! I'm Peter, your soon-to-be charming companion! I'm a very handsome Miniature Poodle, and I'm discovering the joys of comfort and love in my foster home. Each day brings me more confidence, and I'm eager to share my overflowing love with a special someone—maybe that's you! I am a bit timid, sudden movements, commotion, and loud noises still make me a bit uneasy. However, I'm getting better at facing these fears every day. When foster mom is still, I'm all about those loving pets and cuddles. But if she's on the move, I keep my distance—I even bolt if she walks toward me. I know commands like "outside" and "stop," and leash and potty training are still on my to-learn list. I'm 95% potty trained, especially with a consistent routine. A fenced yard is a must for my adventurous spirit. I'd love to have a canine companion to show me the ropes, help me 'dog' properly, and boost my confidence. We're working on some manners, and my foster pals are excellent teachers. Walking on a leash needs some practice, and a confident pal by my side would be perfect. Despite being easily startled and a bit hand-shy, I've found joy in playing with toys, furry friends, and even those mysterious creatures called cats. I'm all about giving kisses, nibbling fingers, and enjoying ear scratches. Zoomies are my specialty, especially in the fenced yard or on the stairs. I've got some manners to polish up, like waiting for my turn and distinguishing between toys and household items – hee hee! I really am a sweet boy who is simply looking for the patience, unconditional love, and security that I SO richly deserve from my own fur-ever family! I really hope that YOU will be my new family because my heart is overflowing with love that I want to share with someone very special! Love, Peter *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses .   Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.   Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    I’m fairly new here but have been gaining confidence by the day!  As with most dogs, when I first meet someone, I’m a little shy and timid.  I’m really curious inside and want to be near so it’ll just need a bit of time to know that you’re a safe space for me.  I’ve been learning about trust and now I’m more apt to stay put than run, when approached.  Once I’m picked up I just melt right in for love.  That’ll likely be my personality all the time once I know you’re my people.  I’ve just started sleeping on my foster’s leg and inching my way up to hopefully a lap soon. In my spare time I enjoy eating and playing with other dogs.  I’m trying hard to follow along and go potty outside but as close as I am to getting the hang of it, I might need a little transition time to learn it at my forever home too. I do well in the kennel and am working on going inside on command.  Won’t that be a neat trick?! I do need a fenced yard in my forever home. When it is time to put on a leash and harness, I get worried. We are practicing how to stay put nicely to put on a harness without bolting.  HAHA  I’m tricky like that.  I haven’t really had any true leash walking experience so that’s something we can practice.  I do know the command for “stay” which is what I’m told when they want to wrangle me in the harness.  I have been snarky with some of the other dogs here when it comes to my food.  I have to tell them to buzz off, that it’s mine.  That seems to be all it is, as I’m not aggressive.  I can be an only dog too if you’d like. I’m just a sweetheart (so I’m told) and quiet overall.  I am still a little timid but not as much as I was when I first arrived.  I hope to find my forever home so I can have all the love I deserve. *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.
Hey there, friends! I'm Miles, the sweetest Mini Poodle you'll ever meet, and I'm ready to be your loyal companion for life! I've got so much love to give, and I'm not shy about showing it! People are my absolute favorite, and I warm up to them faster than you can say "treat." When I'm happy, my whole body wags, especially my tail—it's a tail-wagging masterpiece! Toys are my jam! I can't get enough of them, and I might have a small collection going on. Sharing is caring, but when it comes to toys, I want them all to myself. I'm a real homebody who loves being around my favorite humans. I've been known to get a bit anxious when I can't see my people, but who can blame me? Separation anxiety is a thing for me, and I'm working on it. Give me a backyard, and I'm in doggy heaven! I love racing around, feeling the wind in my fur, and exploring all the exciting scents. And, let me tell you, I've got the zoomies down to an art form. When nature calls, I'm all about #1 in the grass. But for #2, I've got a specific mulched, private area in mind. A dog's gotta have some dignity, right? I've got big dreams of being the center of attention with one or two retired humans. I want to be part of all your adventures and soak up all the love you've got to give. Sleeping in a bed with my human? Sounds like heaven to me. I may have my quirks, but who doesn't? What I promise is a friendship that lasts a lifetime. Super chill, super sweet, and super smart—I'm the whole package! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.      How do you do? Regina is my name, quite a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Now, it’s not like a lady to share her weight, but if I must, I’ll make the exception this one time. I am a 26 lb adult poodle, and while some other dogs are okay calling themselves a “good girl” I would say I am more of a refined lady. I mind my p’s and q’s, I wouldn’t dare cross your personal boundaries until I am invited to which I will gracefully accept your invitation. I will stand and give you a greeting hug and put my arms around you in a gentle fashion.        I am rather intelligent and am of the curious kind. If my senses are heightened by a delicious scent from the countertop, I must admit, I may explore but only when I know something is obtainable. Perhaps keeping delicious morsel treats a tad bit higher will keep my nosy nature at bay, which will likely lessen a counter surfing opportunity. Because of my intellect, I will remember where you keep treats, so, take note.        Despite my small frame, I move with elegance, like a graceful horse in stride. Though I have not been around children or felines, I am gentle and calm in spirit, so I do believe my patience will carry over if either were present in my new home. I do not mind other dogs of any size, but I love being with my person, a home without another canine could be ideal. I’m sure either will be quite alright.       I do prefer to be near my master, but will remain quietly poised in my kennel if that’s where you desire me at times, I also understand the command. While I often do not choose to speak, if prompted by another playmate, I may whine until the barking stops. Because I am a smart cookie, puzzle games are a great joy to me, along with treats and food being a delight as well.        I’m hoping my new home has a fenced yard, I don’t enjoy unnecessary sights and sounds, and an area that’s familiar would keep me in a gentler state of mind. I am working on potty training, I go outside, and I do use bathroom pads in the middle of the night, but I do need practice. I would think that with some extra attention in this area, maybe a schedule, I will likely pick up on cues in this area quickly. Perhaps allowing me to have free reign in the home when you are gone will have to be a reward that I must earn because of this reason, which is quite alright as I stated earlier, I don’t mind the kennel.       Well, look at the time, I must take my afternoon nap. Before I go, I will leave you with this thought to keep in mind. I promise to be loyal, loving and a caring companion for the human that is looking for a fellow gentle soul. Sending my warm regards.   *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hello, I'm Chestnut, the mini poodle with a heart of gold and a shy demeanor. You might find me tucked away in my cozy kennel, observing the world with cautious curiosity. While I'm not one to seek out attention, I'm learning that I'm worthy of love and affection. With a patient and kind-hearted human, I'm slowly coming out of my shell, venturing out to explore the yard and spending more time with my foster family. I may not be the playful type, but I do enjoy the occasional treat, especially if it's a delicious pup cup from Caribou! My favorite pastime? Simply observing you from the comfort of my kennel—it's where I feel safe and secure. While I'm still figuring out this big, bustling world, I've got some fears, particularly when things get too chaotic. But with a gentle hand and a calm environment, I know I'll continue to build my confidence. I'm potty trained and crate trained, preferring to do my business outside and retreat to my cozy spot when I need some downtime. A fenced yard is a must for me, as I'm still a bit fearful of new things and could easily become overwhelmed. I get along well with cats and would appreciate the company of another dog, regardless of size or gender. As for barking? You won't hear a peep from me— so far I'm as quiet as can be. In search of a patient and understanding forever home, where I can continue to blossom at my own pace. If you're willing to give me the time and space I need, I promise to be a loyal companion, offering quiet companionship and unconditional love. *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hello, my name is Viscount. Not only am I a happy, playful young adult male Mini Poodle but I’m incredibly handsome and I have really got it goin’ on if I do say so myself!! I am a curious guy who loves chewies; gazing out the window; saying hello to passersby; eating treats; relaxing on the couch with my family; and getting back rubs! Hint, hint!! Oh, and if you’re wondering if I’m having any fun…just watch for my wiggly bum and tick-tock tail wag! Hee, hee!! I’m a smart, well-mannered boy who knows what “come”, “sit”, and “kennel/crate” mean; I’m potty trained on a schedule; and I do well with the leash and crate. I have not met any cats and I have limited experience with kids…  but I can tell you that if I’m around any kids, they must be calm, respectful, and know how to care for a small guy like me.  Anyway, I really am an incredibly sweet and loving boy who craves affection from my people. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Zoey was dumped at a high kill shelter in West Texas. She is good with other calm dogs, and cats, no young children as the excitement scares her. She is thought to be older, exact age is not known.  She is a pretty calm girl, does like to play some. Zoey would prefer not to be picked up alot, would rather lay with you on the couch on your lap and chill.  All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. She will be arriving in MN late April. First priority will go to someone who lives in the twin cities metro in order to bring to a vet visit.  Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 24, 2024, 10:00 am

Story
Hi! I’m Sheila, I'm 8 years old and done being a mama! I’m enjoying my new life in Minnesota learning to play and looking forward to retiring on a couch, eating treats, playing with my toys, and snuggling up with my people. I’ve been spending my days dancing around my foster home trying out ALL the toys and ALL the beds, sniffing ALL the smells in the backyard, and taking naps both inside and out. Things I’ve learned I love are attention, treats, attention, toys (especially squeaky ones), attention, breakfast and dinner, attention, and sitting in laps. And did I mention attention? Things I’m figuring out is pottying outside (I know to go outside, but usually go inside once a day just because i want to!), which things/plants are ok to chew (hint- phone charger cords are NOT ok), and sometimes other dogs (I want ALL your attention!) I play tug and chase with the right companion but they need to be ok with me being the boss. Things I’m not a fan of are storms and loud noises, strangers, and the super cold weather. I don’t know or care what cats are- boring! I’m poodly smart with a big personality and would love to learn more games and might benefit from working with a trainer to help me learn to share if I end up living with other dogs. I can get a little jealous and bossy!  I will let you know if it sounds like anyone is coming home so living in a place with shared walls won't work for me as all those noises make me anxious and our neighbors won't like me letting them all know!  I will also answer if I hear other dogs calling me, ignoring them would be rude! I don't really like the leash but love to go outside in my fenced in yard to go potty, so I will definitely need a fence!  Zoomies in the yard or chasing my people are enough exercise for me. What I want most in life is to snuggle my BFF and eat treats. Can you be that BFF? Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dental, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $350.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 24, 2024, 5:46 pm

Story
Name: Harry Breeds: Shih Tzu/Poodle Mix Age: Adult Sex: Male Size: Small Harry is a super loving, fun Shih Tzu/Poodle type mix with a puppy spirit. This little guy is all about making friends, loving on everyone he meets, and having fun. He is reported to be 6 years old but he acts so much younger it’s hard to believe he’s a middle-aged guy. He came into the shelter in terrible shape—thin, matted, filthy, and with a giant mass on his face. He’s all cleaned up now, the mass removed, and he’s gaining back the weight he needs. Harry is not looking like a super model right now with a haircut that’s shaved to the skin in places from how matted he was but he will absolutely win every personality contest. He is excellent with dogs, cats, and kids. He loves nothing more than toys and tossing toys around. If he can’t find a toy, socks are his favorite things to run around with. Harry is housetrained, crates well, and minds his manners in the house. He loves to go for walks and then snuggle up with his people or in a sunny spot for a snooze. This guy is a forever puppy and immediately will steal your heart! Requirements: No special requirements Adoption Fee: $600 + tax. This includes neuter/spay, current vaccinations as age appropriate, heartworm/tick testing in dogs over 8 months of age, deworming, microchip and current Heartgard and Nexgard preventatives. Story
Say Hello to Nellie! This sweet, happy girl really loves attention – one of her favorite activities is to snuggle next to you while you rub her belly or her soft ears. Until recently, Nellie’s life was repeatedly being bred to produce babies.  Her life drastically changed when Nellie came to rescue.  She didn’t trust people, had never lived in a home & didn’t even know what a treat was.  Nellie has made tremendous progress, but sometimes loud noises or quick movements can still startle her.  She is a bit shy when meeting people but is curious, so slow introductions work best. Nellie is doing good on house and crate training - following a consistent schedule will be key in mastering these skills.  Nellie is working on the sit and down commands.  She also made up her own trick – spinning!  She just loves attention and treats so I’m sure she’ll enjoy training sessions.  Nellie lives with two small resident dogs and loves playing with them.  She also looks to them for guidance and confidence, so another dog in her forever home will help continue to show her the way. Nellie loves being outside – going for walks or just romping around outside.  She needs a fenced yard so she can run around off-leash, as well as take care of her business. Nellie has started playing with toys & food puzzles.  She’s even had the zoomies a couple times.  It is wonderful to see her playing and having fun! Nellie is looking for a loving forever family who will continue with her on her journey in her brand new world.  She can hardly wait - there are so many places to go, things to do & yummy things to eat!  Consistency and some patience may be required until she’s fully comfortable in her new home and also while continuing work on house & crate training. In return, Nellie promises to be a devoted best friend who will love you with all her heart, have fun with you & always make you smile. If you would like to meet Nellie, please visit spotslaststop.org and fill out an application.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    DOB: 09/17/2022 Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Weight: 12 pounds Requires a fenced yard:  Yes Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area.  Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, I’m Nina, a precious and sweet albeit VERY shy female Chihuahua/Bichon Frise mix puppy. I am cautious around people in general and I don’t like loud noises or a lot of commotion, so I’m not sure if kids are a good fit for me! I admit that I follow mom everywhere but it’s not necessarily because I want her attention…I just want to know what she’s up to…unless she’s giving the other pups attention then…of course, I must be part of the action! Hee, hee!! I love playing with toys and eating treats and have even started taking treats from foster mom’s hand…YAY for me!! I am still working on potty training, I don’t have any experience with the leash, and I don’t like the kennel/crate. In fact, I will holler a LOT when I first go into the crate and randomly throughout the night so just for the record, you have been warned! Hee, hee!! Anyway, I have not met any cats or larger dogs, but I do well with smaller dogs like me and will need a companion and a fenced yard at my new home so we can safely explore and play! I am a super smart girl who already knows what “sit”, “stay”, “down”, “leave it”, & “go potty” all mean…all I need now is a fur-ever home with YOU! I simply ask that you love me unconditionally, NEVER give up on me, and that you will patiently allow me the time and space I need to become comfortable in my own way! I have a huge heart that is overflowing with love I want to share, so please be my fur-ever family. I promise we will make amazing memories together!! All my love, Nina I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! *Grooming - this dog's coat may have been neglected before arriving at Underdog and it can sometimes take months to get their coat healthy as poodles and poodle mixes require daily brushing.  Grooming appointments occur every 3 months and cost on average of $150 per appointment. Adopters should be prepared for such expenses. Underdog Rescue cannot guarantee the non-shedding or hypoallergenic qualities of this dog.  **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters.  Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter.  Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized.  If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!       DOB: 12/07/2022 Requires another dog in home: Yes, another well-balanced dog is required Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown, likely afraid of kids Weight: 8 pounds and growing Food Fed: Solid Gold Requires a fenced yard:  Yes, required Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi, my name is Corbin and I am a very shy and timid puppy that is ready to find my forever people with patience, toys and lots of love to help me be the best I can be! I’m very afraid of being touched by humans but I do love them.  I’ve been brave enough to lick my foster mom’s hand but I’ll run away if you try to hold me or pick me up.  With time, lots of patience and love, I’ll get there.  I’m getting a little better every day but when things are scary, they’re really scary! You have to understand that I likely have never been in a loving home so sounds like the TV, clanking dishes, the horrible vacuum and lots of commotion might make me a little worried. I have shown foster mom that I do have some puppy antics in me, hee hee! I like to play with soft toys, run around the yard and wrestle with the other dogs in my foster home. So, it’ll be important that I have a good doggy role model in my forever home to help me learn that touch isn’t scary and keep learning. A social, well-balanced and confident dog is required. This means that my buddy will need to show me humans are safe, how to get on a potty routine and teach me which toys are the best! My fur-brother and the other dogs in my foster home have been amazing teachers! I am still working on my dog skills like potty training. We go outside on a routine, but I will still need of practice in my forever home. Foster mom wants to let you know that I am smart – I already know what “go potty” means! We tried kennel training, and oh boy, I will tell you how much I don’t like it! Bark bark! Foster mom uses gates for the dogs when she isn’t home. I also bark at her when she comes home – maybe I’m telling you I’m glad you’re home, or maybe I’m filling you in on what happened when you were away!  Also, a fenced yard is required as I don’t have a leash or tie-out experience. This is very important for potty training too. My foster mom said I’m fun, adorable, learns quickly and likes to play with other dogs and that I play hard!  Oh and that I have a wonderful appetite! I will let you know with a bark bark that I am excited for dinner! I’m just an overall, very happy dog who loves the feel of the sun on my face when I’m sitting outside, other dogs and treats.  All I need now is a forever home with lots of patience, unconditional love and a family that will help me be the best I can be! Foster mom says that with time I will learn to trust – we are taking baby steps. Will you take those baby steps with me? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!       Hi I'm Enoch!  I'm a sweet happy puppy who loves having a good time!  That means I love playing tag and wrestling with my doggie friends.  I don't need a doggie friend in my forever home, but if you do I'd sure love one! When I get excited I have the cutest barks!  Don't worry because generally I'm a pretty quiet guy.  I'm quickly figuring out that toys are pretty fun.  Soft ones are usually my favorite.  When I'm not playing I'm usually exploring around my home with a friendly wagging tail and the cutest smile.  I can be a bit unsure in new situations, but give me a bit and I warm up and get curious.  I love getting pets and scratches from my foster mom.  I often give her my tummy for those things called belly rubs.  They're awesome!  I haven't had much practice on leash so I'll need a fence yard or a patient family that is committed to helping me learn.  I must say I think I'll be an excellent student!  I've been working hard on potty and kennel training too.  I know I'll master those too with my amazing new teacher you! I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Visit this link  www.underdogrescuemn.com/donate   to donate.  (Please note: A Paypal account is not necessary to use Paypal. When you get to the Paypal page, just use the link to the left of their login to make your donation via Paypal without an account.) April 24, 2024, 6:11 pm
