It was quickly realized that some cruel people must have hurt this "sweet black angel with her pretty brown paws." My rescuer comforted me. Slowly I began to trust her. We became friends quickly thereafter.I am very smart — the first time my rescuer reached out her hand, I gently gave her my paw.I am very social with other dogs, especially puppies. I love making friends and quickly bond with children. Because I was mistreated when I was young, if someone suddenly throws something towards me, I may bark intensely. But as soon as I realize the person means no harm and loves on me, I do everything to win their heart. Now kitties on the other hand. Not so fond of them.I also adores plush toys (“dolls”) and am very gentle with them. I love treats. So much so, that I have learned to count. You heard that right. I had a deep wound around my neck — it looked like I had been tied tightly with a rope for a very long time. I was hurting and alone, but those kind students didn’t ignore me. They called a rescue, and a wonderful worker came in a taxi to bring me to safety. I received medical care right away for my neck, and slowly I began to heal — on the outside and the inside. With treatment, rest, and gentle hands, my wound healed beautifully. Even after everything, I never lost my sweet spirit. I still believe people can be kind. Right now, I’m living in a shelter with many other animals who are also waiting for their second chance. I’ve made some doggy friends here and enjoy playing with them. I’ve also met cats — they’re interesting creatures! I tend to keep a respectful distance and observe.  The volunteers are so kind to me. I love when they bring treats (yum!) and walk time is very special. I’m learning leash manners and enjoy spending one-on-one time with my humans. Me and my best friend Olivia were constantly harassed by passerbys. We were threatened with being shot, if not removed. Thankfully, a rescuer came through for us. I was pregnant when found and since had 4 adorable puppies. I was transferred to a boarding shelter until a home was found.  I certainly enjoy snuggling, a real cuddle bug they call me.My foster says I am great in the house, calm outside and I don't bark a lot. I enjoy the great outdoors— so much so that it would be best to go to a home with some decent sized property for me to run around."Very sweet & very loving" is how my foster describes me. My foster has worked with me to get me to stop pulling on a leash, and now I'm a pro walker! I am also great in the house.I have no aggressions at all and will wait to eat til told "ok". I get along fine with other dogs as long as they are my size or bigger. Neither cats nor chickens are a good match for me, as at times I have dug holes to try to escape from the acreage to get to the chickens next door... chicken al fresco. KOREA  RESCUE STORY - I was living at the Gimje Shelter, where the conditions were very harsh due to the freezing winter and the risk of infectious diseases. To ensure I didn't have to face that harsh winter alone, some kind hoomans stepped in for an emergency rescue and busted me outta there! Now I am just waiting for my next adventure, awaiting my new furrever family. TEMPERAMENT – Im a friendly, affectionate boy who has no problem saying hello to new people! I’ll happily show interest in strangers, although if you reach out to pet me right away, I might suddenly decide, “Hmm... perhaps we should get to know each other first.”  I’m friendly, but I also believe in personal space and boundaries. Sometimes I like to hang out by myself and enjoy some quiet kennel time. I’m basically the kind of guy who loves you very much but occasionally needs to put himself on “Do Not Disturb.”  When I’m feeling playful, though? Game on! I love my stuffed toys and enjoy asking my foster to play with me. Morning time and post-walk zoomies are when my energy really comes out! I can sometimes get a little overwhelmed when other dogs come at me too quickly or aggressively. I may bark and say, “Excuse me, personal space please!”.  With calmer introductions and some patience, I do well with dogs I’m comfortable with. Overall, I’m a sweet, social, playful little guy who enjoys both fun time AND me time. If you’re looking for a companion who will happily hang out with you but doesn’t need to be glued to your hip 24/7, I might just be your guy! Hi my friends! My name is Nena and here's more about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Border Collie/Sheltie mix Age: 7 years 4 months approx.  Gender: Female Weight: 49lbs (22 kg)  Height: 50cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 70cm (head to butt) Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico RESCUE STORY - I'm not gonna lie, it's been a rough life for me folks! I used to live with an unhoused person for a couple of years, but during that time I was neglected, malnourished and mistreated. When some angels stepped in and finally rescued me they noticed I was super skinny and I had developed resource guarding (protecting my food and my hoomans from other dogs), reactivity and a prey drive. This is likely because of the tough times I had when I was younger and food was not guaranteed for me. My rescuers took me in and I started working with some nice trainers and have made some progress. However, I cannot be around other doggies and I would do best with an experienced adopter. I have bitten one dog in the past and therefore it's essential I am the only pup at home (and that the presence of other dogs around me is managed when I am out on a walk/on a leash). Aside from this, I am super affectionate with my people!  TEMPERAMENT - I'm a very relaxed, chill pup with a pretty low energy level. I like to spend my time lazing in the sunshine! I also am not noisy or jumpy at all, I'm a quiet and afectionate pup who really bonds with my people. I loveeeee cuddles and belly rubs! ENERGY LEVEL - Low GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. Dogs – No. I cannot live with other dogs and have bitten another dog in the past.
