Story
FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Thorne from the Witchy litter! This litter of beautiful mutts are a mix of fun colors and even sizes. DNA has them with 21 different breeds - just WOW! Thorne was the largest in the litter and at just over 4 months old, he's about 32$, so we are guessing he will be in the 60-70# range when fully grown. We hope his little white forehead blaze never disappears - it's adorable. Thorne is the last puppy to be adopted, we took him off Petfinder to get a better idea of his ideal home. We have played musical fosters and have discovered that he takes time warm up. Once he knows you - he's all kinds of fun and cuddles. We think another friendly dog in the home would be great to help with the transition to his new life. His first foster mom said he mastered the bell ringing to go outside pretty quickly - he's a SMART boy! He is crate trained. He will need a PATIENT home that is prepared to continue working with him. His current foster mom has been taking him on adventures to get over his fear of new people and he's improving daily. Because of his current 'fraidy cat' nature - we think a home with older kids is best, or an adult only home. This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood area. Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.
