🐶 🐕 PERKINS (aka PERK) Special Needs Male Border collie Mix 7 years, 52 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Hi, my name is Perkins – just call me Perk - and I am about 7 years young. My Mom thinks I am a Border collie mixed with some type of guardian dog because I watch over my family and pack mates. I have notified them TWICE of rattlesnakes in our yard, barking loudly while keeping my pack mates at a safe distance away. Mom says I am a hero dog, as we have little kids and lots of dogs in our yard that need protection from dangers like that. Mom says I am special needs because I have some incontinence issues. I don't really know what that means. I let Mom and Dad know when I have to go potty, but when I am done, Mom says I leak. We've tried some different medicines and diagnostics, and Dad agrees it really isn't bad. When I hear the Velcro separate on my diaper I know its “free time” in the house. I stand still until I feel that little pat on my backside to signal it’s secure. Mom uses washable diapers, but I would probably do fine with other types as well. I don't like leaving my homestead, so when it's time for my checkup I get something special to help me relax. Everyone at the Vet’s office loves me and tells me what a good boy I am. Speaking of love, I love to chase a tennis ball. I may or may not bring it back depending on my whim at that moment. I also love to eat. Give me food, give me treats, YAY. I sit nice for my meals, which I always eat in my crate. I sleep quietly in my crate, but it's not my favorite place, and I will warn you if strangers are lurking outside because that’s my job. Oh, if you have that white stuff that’s cold, wet, and covers the ground that would be fun. I had a blast the one time it “snowed” here, that’s what my hoomans called it. Dad says he took the cutest video ever when I kept poking my nose out the doggy door, then retreated because what the heck is that? But once I was nudged out the door we had so much fun. I have been with my foster Mom and Dad for a few years and have helped with many of the other dogs and puppies that have come through our home, but I would also be fine as an only dog. I do enjoy playing at the other dog’s level. I wrestle with Skittles, because she is my size and she can take it, but I am gentIe with smaller dogs, or dogs not interested in that sort of thing. I am super friendly and loyal once I get to know you. I can be very vocal when I want something or when I am trying to warn you about something. I tolerate Mom's inside cats, but I don't like any cats in my yard. Mom says I need a cat-free environment for their benefit as well as mine (whatever that means). If you think you would be interested in me, and would like to learn even more about what makes me special, please submit an application so you can talk to my foster mom and dad (because we all know dogs can’t talk). Thank You, Perk PERKINS is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about PERKINS, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration. Story
🐶 🐕 JUNI Female border collie mix approximately 1 Year, 36 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Juni is a 1-year-old, 36# spayed female, who thinks she is a puppy. She is sweet & happy to meet people, even at the vet's office. She loves to go for a visit at her friend Amanda's house, zooming all around that yard, stealing toys she finds hidden in the garden, & snuggling on the couch after a good romp. This girlie loves to snuggle! Juni is crazy about toys, especially her Hollee-Roller ball. She will toss it in the air for herself, catching it & running loops around the yard with it. She also likes to play fetch with her foster mom & is learning that when she brings the toy back, her foster mom will throw it again. Juni also likes hard chew toys like antlers, hoofs, & pizzles. Even when she's in her crate, she is wagging her tail & playing with her toys. She does need to be supervised in the house so that she doesn't mistake one of your things for a toy of hers. She is learning to "leave it" or "bring it to me." Juni enjoys meeting other dogs on her walks. And she plays boundlessly with her foster brother. They take turns chasing each other & wrestling. And Juni runs like the wind! She is not sure about her foster sister, who is as crabby as they come. Juni initially defers & backs up when Nancy tells her, but minutes later she tries again to engage Nancy in play. Juni would not be a good fit for a home with cats because of her relentless joy in running & chasing. Juni is learning to walk on a leash, to sit, & to wait before coming through doors--crate doors & house doors. She has a great recall. And she is both treat & toy-motivated. So, while Juni seems not to have had much guidance in her previous home, she has a nice desire to please & wants to learn. She wants to be included, & likes to go places in the car, riding quietly in her crate. She is crate-trained, & is making great progress in her house-training, pottying on command--even on leash. She sleeps through the night without having to go outside, but during the day she still needs to be taken outside often & reinforced for pottying outside. Juni is friendly, sweet, active, & wants to learn. She is agile & fast & a nice size. She might enjoy dogs sports like agility or nosework & activities where she can run like sprints on a beach or playing chase with her dog pal. She would enjoy most anything she would get to do with her person. She will not be content with playing fetch & walks around the black. She wants fun, learning opportunities, & activity, & then to hang out with her people. She can live happily as an only dog, or with a dog that matches her exuberant play style. JUNI is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about JUNI, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. JUNI is fostering north of Sacramento, CA.

Story
Meet Adiago, one of our adorable ballet-inspired pups alongside his sisters, Pirouette and Arabesque and brother Battu! At just about 2 months old and 17.4 pounds, this handsome black, white, and tri-color sweetheart is already showing off his brave and confident personality. He’s the braver one of the bunch, always ready to explore first but just as ready to soak up cuddles and affection. Adiago is as sweet as he is cute, with a curious spirit and a heart full of love. Fern is a 1-year, 2-month-old sweetheart who weighs 48.6 pounds of pure love. We believe she may be a Border Collie mix, possibly with some Border Collie in her, but whatever her mix may be, one thing is certain, she is absolutely wonderful. Fern has the most lovable personality. She is incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate. If you’re looking for a cuddle buddy, Fern is your girl! She will happily sit right by your side (she already knows how to “sit” like a pro!) before adorably climbing into your lap for some quality snuggle time. But don’t let her cuddly side fool you, Fern also loves to play! She enjoys having fun and would thrive with a family who can give her both cozy couch time and playful adventures. With her loving heart and joyful spirit, Fern is ready to find a forever home where she can share all the sweetness she has to give. Could that be with you?
