Story
🐶 🐕 PERKINS (aka PERK) Special Needs Male Border collie Mix 7 years, 52 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Hi, my name is Perkins – just call me Perk - and I am about 7 years young. My Mom thinks I am a Border collie mixed with some type of guardian dog because I watch over my family and pack mates. I have notified them TWICE of rattlesnakes in our yard, barking loudly while keeping my pack mates at a safe distance away. Mom says I am a hero dog, as we have little kids and lots of dogs in our yard that need protection from dangers like that. Mom says I am special needs because I have some incontinence issues. I don't really know what that means. I let Mom and Dad know when I have to go potty, but when I am done, Mom says I leak. We've tried some different medicines and diagnostics, and Dad agrees it really isn't bad. When I hear the Velcro separate on my diaper I know its “free time” in the house. I stand still until I feel that little pat on my backside to signal it’s secure. Mom uses washable diapers, but I would probably do fine with other types as well. I don't like leaving my homestead, so when it's time for my checkup I get something special to help me relax. Everyone at the Vet’s office loves me and tells me what a good boy I am. Speaking of love, I love to chase a tennis ball. I may or may not bring it back depending on my whim at that moment. I also love to eat. Give me food, give me treats, YAY. I sit nice for my meals, which I always eat in my crate. I sleep quietly in my crate, but it's not my favorite place, and I will warn you if strangers are lurking outside because that’s my job. Oh, if you have that white stuff that’s cold, wet, and covers the ground that would be fun. I had a blast the one time it “snowed” here, that’s what my hoomans called it. Dad says he took the cutest video ever when I kept poking my nose out the doggy door, then retreated because what the heck is that? But once I was nudged out the door we had so much fun. I have been with my foster Mom and Dad for a few years and have helped with many of the other dogs and puppies that have come through our home, but I would also be fine as an only dog. I do enjoy playing at the other dog’s level. I wrestle with Skittles, because she is my size and she can take it, but I am gentIe with smaller dogs, or dogs not interested in that sort of thing. I am super friendly and loyal once I get to know you. I can be very vocal when I want something or when I am trying to warn you about something. I tolerate Mom's inside cats, but I don't like any cats in my yard. Mom says I need a cat-free environment for their benefit as well as mine (whatever that means). If you think you would be interested in me, and would like to learn even more about what makes me special, please submit an application so you can talk to my foster mom and dad (because we all know dogs can’t talk). Thank You, Perk PERKINS is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about PERKINS, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. 🐶 🐕 GEORDIE Male Border collie Mix 11 months, 40 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Meet GEORDIE — your handsome adventure partner and social butterfly. Go ahead and swipe right — GEORDIE’s the total package. This approximately 10 month old, 40-pound Border Collie mix (possibly McNab x Border Collie) is smart, funny, slightly sensitive, and absolutely ready to make your life more fun. GEORDIE is the full Border Collie experience — clever, athletic, affectionate, and deeply loyal, all wrapped in a great sense of humor. He’s the guy who’ll race you up the trail, dive into the lake for a swim, pose perfectly for photos, and then melt into you for some well-earned couch cuddles. And yes… he’s really handsome. The kind of handsome that turns heads at the coffee shop and earns compliments everywhere he goes. GEORDIE loves life and everything in it — people, dogs, adventures, and new places. He thrives when he’s part of the action: coffee runs, brewery patios, farmers markets, or anywhere with good vibes and friendly faces. He also loves water and will happily splash, wade, or swim whenever he gets the chance. He enjoys other dogs of all sizes and would be thrilled to share his home and adventures with another friendly canine buddy. GEORDIE is house trained, crate trained, and rides well in the car. Whether snoozing at your feet after a busy day or hanging out in his crate (just make sure it’s a secure one — he’s clever enough to test the latch), GEORDIE is an easy and enjoyable companion. Underneath all that confidence and fun is that classic Border Collie sensitivity — the kind that makes him tuned in to your moods and eager to please. He’s happiest when included in your adventures and routines, showing off his smarts, his heart, and that megawatt smile. If your dog is looking for a canine friend with which to have fun, and you are looking for a dog who is as social as he is sweet, as adventurous as he is affectionate, and who’ll make every day a little brighter — GEORDIE is your guy. So go ahead… swipe right on GEORDIE. Your perfect match might just have four paws, a wagging tail, and a love for the water. GEORDIE is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about GEORDIE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org.
