Story
Slade is looking for a home!Slade has been spending some time in weekend foster with one of our volunteers, who has this to say about him:After a one day outing with Slade a week prior, where we introduced him to his kennel when he visits, Slade stayed with us for 4 days and 3 nights this time. Slade has no problem getting in a vehicle, and is a perfect traveler. Like most all dogs, he likes to hang his head out the window, but also sometimes just lays down and cruises, and sometimes just sits there and watches out the back window. Never anxious or panting like some large dogs do in a vehicle. Slade was very comfortable in the kennel which I built for "no dog contact" fostering, as we have two dogs of our own. Slade and my 2 dogs were never in contact, but got to know each other very well; two feet apart. All 4 days were very positive for all 3 dogs, and there was a lot of "fence chase play". Slade truly enjoyed watching my dogs play, and at times they all just laid by the fence close but no contact.Slade's 3 nights in the house went smoother than I had hoped. We dedicated a room to Slade with an XL crate. We left the door to the crate open, so he had access to the whole room. He enjoyed my recliner, and TV! The majority of the night he did stay in his crate. There were no messes of either type all 3 nights! Slade seems house broken. That was nice!Slade spent a lot of time with my Wife, while I would take my other 2 dogs for walks, or played in the back. He was very comfortable while he had the run of the rest of the house. He and my wife are "Buds". I think Slade would get along with most anyone.(We don't have cats, so I have no feedback on that)I took Slade on several walks in my neighborhood, he was great, no pull, just wanted to sniff and explore, it was very easy to walk him. I also took him on a couple walks out by the River on a long-leash, all nature, no cars or trucks. He absolutely loved it!Though I hope Slade gets adopted today! He will always be welcome at our house. He is a great houseguest, and a Gentle Giant with a playfully side too!My dogs go out first thing every morning to see if he is there! This animal is at the City of Chico Animal Shelter. Story
🐶 🐕 BUNGEE Male approximately 2 years, 35 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 BUNGEE is a 2-year-old border collie with a medium-thick coat, weighing 35 pounds. He is a cute little guy with freckles, and he always has a smile. Bungee loves people and is eager to please. While he can be shy at first, he warms up quickly. During his vet clinic visits, he was very friendly and well-behaved, and he visited with everyone, and he’s been a well-behaved guest at a small local pub with an outside patio. With his smaller size and love of people, Bungee is great for evening wiggly snuggles on the couch when he is invited up. He is an exceptionally endearing boy; everyone who has met him says so! BUNGEE is a super-fast, agile dog, sprinting around with the other border collies in his foster home and running alongside the motor bike when doing chores. He sticks with the pack and is not prone to wander, even when tempted by wild deer nearby. He likes other dogs, but he is slow to take the hint when trying to play with uninterested older dogs; that said, he’s wonderful with the puppy in his foster home. He could easily and happily live in a home as an only dog or with another playful dog with a similar energy level. Bungee likes to sniff cats, occasionally chasing when they bolt, but he doesn't want to hurt them and is easily called off. This boy loves water, and he loves to swim, so a pool, lake, creek, or river nearby will be a big plus for him! BUNGEE is treat-motivated and has once he understands what you want, he shows a nice desire to please. For example, when he becomes unsure of what’s expected during his herding training, he just comes to his handler and sits, waiting for further direction. Bungee shows a good herding instinct. He has had several training sessions with ducks, during which he shows a nice outrun and can be stopped and called off even under the temptation of the chase. He’s learning to “lie down” in the duck arena. Bungee shows interest in sheep, but he has not been tested with them. BUNGEE enjoys learning new things and wants to do the right thing. He’s learned to sit, and he comes when he’s called most of the time now. With his love of people and at his young age, learning not to jump up with enthusiasm when greeting people is still a work in progress. He’s learning to stay and wait at the door until he hears his release word. On leash, he doesn’t pull, but on a long line he can get tangled! Bungee is housebroken and sleeps well in his crate all night; in fact, he likes his crate and often goes into his crate on his own. He rides well in the car and likes going places with his foster family. While BUNGEE is a typically active young border who loves training, adventure, play, and even opportunities to work, he is a sensitive dog that can become overly stimulated in heavily people and vehicle-trafficked situations. He prefers quieter and less stimulating environments. He responds well to consistent, clear, and supportive leadership, and he does seek leadership. While he is sensitive, he appreciates knowing what is expected of him so that he can do the right thing. He is looking for an adopter with border collie experience and who can provide the leadership and support that this young border collie needs. BUNGEE is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative, on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved application and wish to inquire, send an email to: adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have not filled out an application, or it’s been more than a year since your last application, please submit a new one here: Adoption Application. BUNGEE is fostering in Oroville in Butte County, CA.

Story
🐶 🐕 PERKINS (aka PERK) Special Needs Male Border collie Mix 7 years, 52 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Hi, my name is Perkins – just call me Perk - and I am about 7 years young. My Mom thinks I am a Border collie mixed with some type of guardian dog because I watch over my family and pack mates. I have notified them TWICE of rattlesnakes in our yard, barking loudly while keeping my pack mates at a safe distance away. Mom says I am a hero dog, as we have little kids and lots of dogs in our yard that need protection from dangers like that. Mom says I am special needs because I have some incontinence issues. I don't really know what that means. I let Mom and Dad know when I have to go potty, but when I am done, Mom says I leak. We've tried some different medicines and diagnostics, and Dad agrees it really isn't bad. When I hear the Velcro separate on my diaper I know its “free time” in the house. I stand still until I feel that little pat on my backside to signal it’s secure. Mom uses washable diapers, but I would probably do fine with other types as well. I don't like leaving my homestead, so when it's time for my checkup I get something special to help me relax. Everyone at the Vet’s office loves me and tells me what a good boy I am. Speaking of love, I love to chase a tennis ball. I may or may not bring it back depending on my whim at that moment. I also love to eat. Give me food, give me treats, YAY. I sit nice for my meals, which I always eat in my crate. I sleep quietly in my crate, but it's not my favorite place, and I will warn you if strangers are lurking outside because that’s my job. Oh, if you have that white stuff that’s cold, wet, and covers the ground that would be fun. I had a blast the one time it “snowed” here, that’s what my hoomans called it. Dad says he took the cutest video ever when I kept poking my nose out the doggy door, then retreated because what the heck is that? But once I was nudged out the door we had so much fun. I have been with my foster Mom and Dad for a few years and have helped with many of the other dogs and puppies that have come through our home, but I would also be fine as an only dog. I do enjoy playing at the other dog’s level. I wrestle with Skittles, because she is my size and she can take it, but I am gentIe with smaller dogs, or dogs not interested in that sort of thing. I am super friendly and loyal once I get to know you. I can be very vocal when I want something or when I am trying to warn you about something. I tolerate Mom's inside cats, but I don't like any cats in my yard. Mom says I need a cat-free environment for their benefit as well as mine (whatever that means). If you think you would be interested in me, and would like to learn even more about what makes me special, please submit an application so you can talk to my foster mom and dad (because we all know dogs can’t talk). Thank You, Perk PERKINS is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about PERKINS, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration. PERKINS is fostering north of Corning in Tehama County, CA.
