Hi there! My name is Lotus and I'm a 1 1/2 year old Border Collie Mix currently living at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home! Meet Lotus, our flower that is ready to bloom in a home of her own! This sweet cattle dog mix may be a little shy when first meeting new people, but with patience, kindness, and a gentle approach, her personality slowly begins to show. Lotus has already been making wonderful progress coming out of her shell and learning that the world can be a safe and exciting place. She’s looking for a family that will continue helping her grow by taking her on adventures, exploring new places, and giving her plenty of opportunities to experience life at her own pace. Like the flower she’s named after, Lotus flourishes best when given time, understanding, and space to open up naturally. She would do best with adopters who respect her boundaries and allow her to seek affection when she feels comfortable, rather than rushing her into new situations. Once she starts to trust you, Lotus shows just how sweet and loving she truly is. She has done well playing with other dogs and has shown that she wants to make doggy friends, though she would still benefit from continued positive socialization and guidance as she builds confidence around them. An active home that enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, enrichment activities, and continued training would be a wonderful fit for this smart and sensitive girl. With enough time, Lotus is sure to continue blooming into an amazing lifelong companion! Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Milo is 2 yrs old. He is very sweet, affectionate, smart and athletic. He does well with other dogs and very well with our family, but has anxiety when guests are over. He has never been aggressive or bitten anyone, but he will hide and bark.A few months after we got him we had a family crisis and were not able to give him the time, training and confidence-building he needed. He knows basic commands and has a lot of potential. Would do great with room to roam or adventures to go on, someone with experience with anxious dogs, and who will show him the affection that he craves and help build his confidence.This is a very difficult decision, we love him dearly. Our older dog needs surgery and I don’t know if we can manage it all, nor do I think he would do well in a shelter. He is a wonderful boy with so much potential. But we want the best for him and we cannot provide it at this time. Any help or interest is appreciated!

The people at SBH refer to me by many different names. As long as you are talking to me I am happy. I am a morning guy who doesn't need coffee to get the day started. I would make a great running or walking partner for someone. Once I get my energy out and work my brain a bit, I will lay with you or near you while you do your tasks. I am still learning that I am ok when you leave me, and you will be back to take me on a good outing. I have blossomed into a social butterfly and like to say hi to everyone. I will draw you in with my charm and before you know it, you are wrapped around my paw. I'm the type of guy who makes friends just standing quietly in line, not because I'm flashy or loud, but because I have an undeniable charisma that people can't help but be drawn to.
