Story
Hi there! My name is Bowie! I am a 2 year old male Miniature Dachshund and Border Collie mix and I'm currently living at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home! This short little guy is cute, energetic, and always ready for adventure. He is definitely *not* a couch potato — he would love an active home where he can go on hikes, long walks, and explore the world with his person. He absolutely loves being outside and moving! He can be a little timid when first meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and soon becomes a friendly, happy companion. Once he feels comfortable, his playful and affectionate side really shines through. He is crate trained and mostly housetrained. On walks, he prefers to avoid other dogs and will need continued work on leash manners since he tends to pull. He’s smart and active but will do best with someone patient and consistent who can continue helping him build confidence and boundaries. This little guy would do best in a cat-free home. He's curious, loves to investigate the world with his mouth, so keeping an eye on snacks, toys, and household items is important! And of course, like many smart, energetic dogs, he can get a little mischievous if left unsupervised for too long, so he’ll thrive with structure, enrichment, and plenty of activity. Despite his quirks, he’s a good dog with lots of potential in the right home. He’s looking for an experienced, active adopter who understands energetic herding-type mixes and is ready to give him structure, exercise, and guidance. If you’re looking for a fun-sized hiking buddy with personality, charm, and lots of energy, he may be your perfect match! Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Story
Hi there! My name is Sully, I’m a 1 and a half year old Labrador/Border Collie mix, and I'm at the Santa Barbara Campus! Sully, Sullivan, cutie pie, sweetie, adorable. The people at SBH refer to me by many different names. As long as you are talking to me I am happy. I am a morning guy who doesn't need coffee to get the day started. I would make a great running or walking partner for someone. Once I get my energy out and work my brain a bit, I will lay with you or near you while you do your tasks. I am still learning that I am ok when you leave me, and you will be back to take me on a good outing. I have blossomed into a social butterfly and like to say hi to everyone. I will draw you in with my charm and before you know it, you are wrapped around my paw. I'm the type of guy who makes friends just standing quietly in line, not because I'm flashy or loud, but because I have an undeniable charisma that people can't help but be drawn to. Do you feel the connection? Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Story
WOOF! I'M ROCCO! I'm a 2-year-old Border Collie-Flat-Coat mix in need of a foster or forever home! I was recently rescued from a crowded California shelter, where I was impounded as a stray. I then was adopted, but returned less than 24 hours later as someone in the house had allergies. Fortunately I was rescued and now am ready for a foster or forever home! I have done great with other dogs and am a happy, playful boy. I love to play with other dogs and hang out with humans. I weigh 59 lbs. Could you foster or adopt me? I'm currently in California and available to meet! Please email for an application.

Story
Hi, I’m Gary! I’m a gentle, sensitive boy who’s looking for a calm home where I can settle in and truly shine. I’ve lived with other dogs before and may do well with a canine companion who matches my easygoing vibe and gives me a little time to feel comfortable. I can be a little shy at first, but once I know I’m safe, my sweet personality starts to come through. I enjoy quiet companionship, spending time with my people, and taking things at a slower pace. I also do well with other dogs in playgroups, where I’m respectful and take corrections nicely. I’d thrive in a patient, loving home where I can continue building confidence and enjoying all the good things life has to offer. Underneath it all, I’m just a kindhearted boy who wants to feel loved and safe. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a gentle heart and soft eyes, I’d love to meet you.

Breed: Border Collie X DOB: 2/2024 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: large Color(s): black / white Description:Hi, I'm Sadie, a remarkable and resilient young Border Collie mix with a heart as big as the challenges I've overcome. After being rescued with my nine newborn puppies, I faced health issues and injuries with unwavering courage. But now, I'm ready to leave my past behind and find a forever family to call my own. I am a gentle soul who craves love and attention. With a calm and friendly demeanor, I welcome all the pets, kisses, and treats life has to offer. My sweet and quiet nature will instantly capture your heart. Imagine leisurely walks together, where my easy-going temperament shines through, and cozy nights in, where my loving presence warms your soul.I'm a beautiful black and white pup who not only survived but thrived. I'm very quiet and keep a close watch on my person and house especially at night. I'm still learning to trust the resident cat in my foster home, but I'm getting better every day. I enjoy being brushed outside in the morning, doing a few zoomies to show my appreciation, then laying in the grass to sunbathe. I've never had an accident in the house and I'll even let you know when I have to go outside. I'm learning to walk on a leash and to not be so nervous around traffic and children riding bicycles/scooters. I understand 'NO', 'wait' and 'back'. I enjoy car rides especially when we go get burgers, but I'm still learning to get into the car. I take treats very nicely; I'm a very polite girl. I'm a bit nervous with strangers approach me, but do better if they let me approach them.My resilience and adaptability are a testament to my unwavering spirit. With ongoing care and medication, I am on the path to recovery and will continue to bring joy and devotion to those around me. I'm more than just a loving companion; I'm a symbol of strength and a reminder that second chances exist. If you're looking for a loyal and devoted friend to cherish and adore, consider opening your heart and home to extraordinary me. Could you be the loving and patient person I have been waiting for? Fill out an online application to meet me and discover the heartwarming bond that awaits. *Thank you to Sharon for sponsoring this wonderful dog and giving her the chance for a better life.May 24, 2026, 8:24 pm

Story
Lizzy is your go to gal for smarts, snuggles, and adventures! She’s eager to please (treat motivated!) and the perfect mix of adventure buddy and cozy home companion. Lizzy has blossomed in foster care in a home environment. She’s housebroken, sleeps through the night, and respects boundaries when they’re set consistently (though she secretly hopes you’ll invite her into bed for snuggles). Not to mention her leash skills are getting better every day! Her favorite types of fun? (1) Outdoor fun: Fetch with her ChuckIt! ball is her FAVORITE, but she also enjoys hikes, jogs, runs, car rides, and walkies and (2) Indoor fun: Lizzy loves to curl up nearby (often with a single paw or her nose touching you) and nap while you relax or work from home, and she`ll happily settle and keep herself entertained with a chew toy, or a pupsicle when you need space). Lizzy is a quick learner, very affectionate, and bonds deeply with those she trusts. She is looking for a home where she can be your one-and-only pet. She’ll thrive with someone who enjoys both snuggling on the couch and exploring the outdoors, and who can offer her patience, structure, and a whole lot of love. Lizzy makes life simple, clear cues and a little love (and a ChuckIt! ball or two) are all she needs. If you’re ready for a once-in-a-lifetime dog who will be your loyal shadow, Lizzy is waiting for you.

Story
Hi there! My name is Wooly and I am a 6 year old male Australian Shepherd mix and I'm currently living at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home! Meet Wooly- the dog, the myth, the certified heart melter. This 6 year old bundle of fluff came to us from an overcrowded shelter where he was found roaming as a stray and has quickly won the hearts from the staff here at SBH! He's the kind of dog that has eyes that tell a hundred stories and has a calm, loving presence. He's also the kind of dog that doesn't ask for much... just a comfy spot to relax, a few daily walks, and a human to share his gentle nature with. He has a gorgeous coat that his future family will need to maintain to help Wooly continue serving looks 24/7 and he would also thrive in a steady home environment with a loyal companion of his own. He would benefit from continued exposure to new places and experiences since he's in his "curious but still gaining confidence out in the world” era. And a bonus, he's housetrained too! Come in and meet him, after all, home is where Wooly is. Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted, I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home.
