Hi there! My name is Bowie! I am a 2 year old male Miniature Dachshund and Border Collie mix and I'm currently living at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home! This short little guy is cute, energetic, and always ready for adventure. He is definitely *not* a couch potato — he would love an active home where he can go on hikes, long walks, and explore the world with his person. He absolutely loves being outside and moving! He can be a little timid when first meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and soon becomes a friendly, happy companion. Once he feels comfortable, his playful and affectionate side really shines through. He is crate trained and mostly housetrained. On walks, he prefers to avoid other dogs and will need continued work on leash manners since he tends to pull. He’s smart and active but will do best with someone patient and consistent who can continue helping him build confidence and boundaries. This little guy would do best in a cat-free home. He's curious, loves to investigate the world with his mouth, so keeping an eye on snacks, toys, and household items is important! And of course, like many smart, energetic dogs, he can get a little mischievous if left unsupervised for too long, so he’ll thrive with structure, enrichment, and plenty of activity. Despite his quirks, he’s a good dog with lots of potential in the right home. He’s looking for an experienced, active adopter who understands energetic herding-type mixes and is ready to give him structure, exercise, and guidance.
