Story
Hi there! My name is Atlas. I am a 9 month old border collie mix and I'm at the Santa Maria Campus. Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Need some supplies? Both SB Humane Campuses have retail centers stocked with everything you need, at comparable prices, and your purchase helps support our mission. Hope to see you soon!

Story
Milo is 2 yrs old. He is very sweet, affectionate, smart and athletic. He does well with other dogs and very well with our family, but has anxiety when guests are over. He has never been aggressive or bitten anyone, but he will hide and bark.A few months after we got him we had a family crisis and were not able to give him the time, training and confidence-building he needed. He knows basic commands and has a lot of potential. Would do great with room to roam or adventures to go on, someone with experience with anxious dogs, and who will show him the affection that he craves and help build his confidence. This is a very difficult decision, we love him dearly. Our older dog needs surgery and I don’t know if we can manage it all, nor do I think he would do well in a shelter. He is a wonderful boy with so much potential. But we want the best for him and we cannot provide it at this time. Any help or interest is appreciated!

Story
Hi there! My name is Bowie! I am a 2 year old male Miniature Dachshund and Border Collie mix and I'm currently living at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home! This short little guy is cute, energetic, and always ready for adventure. He is definitely *not* a couch potato — he would love an active home where he can go on hikes, long walks, and explore the world with his person. He absolutely loves being outside and moving! He can be a little timid when first meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and soon becomes a friendly, happy companion. Once he feels comfortable, his playful and affectionate side really shines through. He is crate trained and mostly housetrained. On walks, he prefers to avoid other dogs and will need continued work on leash manners since he tends to pull. He’s smart and active but will do best with someone patient and consistent who can continue helping him build confidence and boundaries. This little guy would do best in a cat-free home. He's curious, loves to investigate the world with his mouth, so keeping an eye on snacks, toys, and household items is important! And of course, like many smart, energetic dogs, he can get a little mischievous if left unsupervised for too long, so he’ll thrive with structure, enrichment, and plenty of activity. Despite his quirks, he’s a good dog with lots of potential in the right home. He’s looking for an experienced, active adopter who understands energetic herding-type mixes and is ready to give him structure, exercise, and guidance. If you’re looking for a fun-sized hiking buddy with personality, charm, and lots of energy, he may be your perfect match!
