Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Online Adoption Application!   Meet Boots, a beautiful Border Collie mix who has had a rough start. She’s spent her life chained, but now thanks to a beautiful rescue mom is blossoming in a home environment. She’s said to be around 4 years old, though she seems younger in energy and spirit. Boots is proving what a wonderful girl she truly is. She loves to run, explore the yard, and especially play with her new friend Cora. Cora can be a bit rough, but Boots handles it like a champ. Even her new blind senior friend, Socks, has decided she’s worth playing with! She is a shy girl at first, but she warms up very quickly. • Leash: She may pull a little, but when I remind her that I’m an “old woman,” she slows right down. • Car rides: Hops in fairly easily and rides well. • Vet care: Fully vetted, microchipped, and her 4DX test was all negative. Boots has been in foster for almost two weeks and has been no trouble at all. Her quirks are harmless and honestly kind of sweet: • Her foster mom leaves the back door open and Boots just loves to dart in and out, child like. When she comes inside, she likes to tuck herself under a table or other safe spot. That’s her comfort place, and she’s happy to have Cora join her for playtime there. • Boots has never tried to dig under or go over the fence. • Her reputation indicated she may not be trustworthy with cats, but she hasn’t been near them in foster to truly know. Boots truly deserves a home where she can get more one-on-one attention and continue learning what it means to be loved. She has shown zero aggression in her foster home—just a gentle, grateful personality that wants to feel safe. If you’d like more info about Boots or want to meet her, please reach out. She’s ready for her new beginning. Story
Hela was the only of her litter that was born and raised outside to have survive. She was taken in by The Ironwood Homestead and Sanctuary where she got a lot of exposure to other animals and gave birth to a litter of wonderful baby boys. She loves trying to herd the chickens and has a knack at finding old bones to chew on. She loves exploring outside and would do well with someone that also spends lots of time outside. She is great with other dogs, cats, goats, birds (chickens and larger). She knows a few tricks like sit, stay, up, spin, and paw but can be too excited or stubborn at times. She is VERY food motivated and loves to run around.

Story
🖤 Meet Shadow 🖤Shadow is a 2-year-old Border Collie mix with a loving heart and a playful personality. Through no fault of her own, Shadow has found herself back at the shelter after being returned for a second time. Her previous adopters cared about her, but ultimately realized they couldn’t provide the amount of space and structure she needs to thrive.Shadow is an affectionate girl who loves people and enjoys spending time with her family. She does well with children and gets along with other dogs, making her a wonderful companion for the right home. However, she is not a fan of cats and would do best in a cat-free household.Because Shadow has some separation anxiety, she will need a home that understands her needs. She does best with plenty of room to run and play, and if she is inside while her family is away, she should be safely crated. A home with a secure yard or a family committed to providing lots of exercise would be ideal for this active girl.Shadow is heartworm negative, spayed, current on vaccinations, and ready to start her next chapter.🐾 Good with children🐾 Good with other dogs🐾 No cats🐾 Needs space to exercise and thrive🐾 Crate recommended when left alone indoors💙 Adoption Fee: FULLY SPONSORED + tax 💙Shadow has been waiting for the right family to see her potential. She doesn’t need a perfect home—just one that understands her needs and is willing to give her the love, patience, and stability she deserves. Could that be you?Dogs are $115 and puppies are $110 unless otherwise noted. All cats and kittens are $75.00 unless otherwise noted. Our system automatically updates adoptable websites every two hours. Feel free to email or call us with any questions you may have. Our contact number is 270-887-4175. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30-4 and is closed daily for lunch from 12:30-1. Adoptions are done on a first come first serve basis for owner releases. Strays have a wait list.
