She's a true people lover, always ready for affection and cuddles. Suzi enjoys a variety of things and activities such as playing tug, soft squeaky toys, going on walks, frozen peanut butter filled kongs, hard chews, licky mats, snuffle mats, dog puzzles, soft foam dog beds (and maybe a fuzzy one for her head), belly rubs, and giving kisses. She's potty trained and kennel trained, though she'd rather be by your side. Suzi has a bit of a prey drive, so she's not suited for homes with small animals. Suzi would be best with an easy going, playful dog or fine as a solo dog.  She will need proper introduction to other dogs. She's actively learning commands and tricks (sit, lie down, come, wait, here, get it, give it, leave it, place, here, spin, twirl, touch, hide, roll over, crawl and catch) and is eager to please for treats or toys. Suzi is intelligent, inquisitive, and knows when to relax. If you're seeking a Border Collie's intelligence, beauty, and loyalty without the high energy, Suzi is your ideal match. She requires a fenced yard and someone knowledgeable about her breed. She's spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Suzi is currently in foster care in Manhattan, KS.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 9, 2025, 11:12 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   Ziggy is a 35 pound, estimated 10-12 month old Border Collie mix who was cared for by a kind family when he and his sister, Alexa, showed up on their farm. He is cautious around new people and dogs for the first 60 seconds, then relaxes and wants to play. Ziggy has been in MO-Kan’s foster cares since September 13th. He is very treat motivated and has learned that sitting gets him results. Once he realized that the foster home’s two resident dogs didn’t want to eat him, he began to enjoy games of chase and wrestle. He is very much an adolescent: playful and puppylike and lacking life experience to form opinions on much beyond food and crates. Ziggy thrives on companionship. He and his sister were two playful peas in a pod. Separation was best for them so they could individually be trained and gain confidence as they matured. For more on this, “Littermate Syndrome”, a behavior description, is worth a quick google. Ziggy is used to being crated with a mid-day break during the workday. He keeps a clean kennel and knows that potty goes outside. He hasn’t been left unattended to test his potty training as he is very curious about everything new and still chews. Ziggy does not like to be left alone, so he has a crate in the foster’s bedroom, where he sleeps through the night without a peep. Ziggy would do best with a fenced yard and a dog friend who loves to run and play. He is respectful of the foster home’s elderly dog and also to the kindly dominant, playful adult dog. We have not observed him around children or cats. With continued basic training and a routine, he’ll be somebody’s special little buddy. Ziggy is being fostered in the Kansas City, MO area.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 10:33 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   Alexa (nicknamed Roo) is ready to find her forever family! She and her brother, Ziggy, went from strays to squatters (at a very nice, caring farm) to temporary foster care to their current residence in long-term foster homes. During this time, she experienced what we assume to be many “firsts” for her - vet visits, walks on a leash, baths, car rides, and crating, just to name a few. She is a very sweet and playful girl who is eager to learn. Some of the things Alexa has been enjoying in her foster home: training, toys, walks, rides, playing with her foster sister, and being outside.  She is well-behaved in the house but prefers to spend more time outdoors than indoors. Alexa is working on her leash manners and crate training. She has not been cat or kid tested. She is shy/timid when meeting new people, which is understandable given her history as a stray. Once she gets comfortable with you, though, she will be your best buddy. She has no problem initiating playtime at home, is always excited to see her foster mom, and likes to cuddle up on the couch at night when she’s burned off her energy. Alexa enjoys being busy (whether that be mental or physical stimulation), so an active home with a yard and another younger, playful dog would be best. She may also be a good candidate for dog sports with her energy level and eagerness to learn. Alexa would benefit from a home with Border Collie experience as she does possess many traits of this breed. She is still learning what it’s like to be a “dog” but has come so far already! Her forever family will need to be patient and willing to help her build confidence and be comfortable in her new home. This sweet girl has lots of potential and so much love to give! If you think you are the right family for her, fill out an application on our website. Alexa is being fostered in the Ames, IA area.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 7, 2024, 9:01 am

Hi I am Anderson, a blue Merle Border Collie boy, about 9 mos old. I was rescued from a hoarding situation, and am looking for a quiet, loving, patient home. I LOVE other dogs, especially a nice, playful, confident buddy to help show me the ropes of a life with people and a house. I haven’t had a lot of experience with humans but starting to like my foster home. It takes me lots of time to warm up, and very importantly that I can go at my own pace, as I learn about people. I am starting to enjoy pets, and seek attention from my foster mom, she is my safe person. I enjoy belly rubs and extending my paw for attention. I can be in the same room with a few strangers, and happily chew a bone, or play with one of my favorite toys. I am doing well with slow introduction to new people. Foster mom says I need experienced owners with the breed, and how to work with a shy and fearful dog. I need my humans to go slow and have patience with me as I learn about the world. I need positive and gentle training only, so that I can gain confidence and be a happy dog in my family. I would be best in a home without children. I am kennel trained, it is my “safe” spot, and I sleep there at night and when foster mom is away. I am learning to take treats from my foster family, and love hanging out with them chewing a bone while they watch TV. I LOVE running in the backyard, and zooming after a ball, and I love all toys!! I love my foster sister, she shows me that strange things are safe, giving me lots of the confidence that I need. I want a dog like her in my new forever home! I am interested in cats, and I can probably live with one that is good with dogs. I am ready to search for my forever home, could that be you? I’ll be waiting! Love, and woofs, Anderson Anderson is ready for adoption to the right home. His new family must have experience with training a shy and fearful dogs. He will need another confident, and playful dog to show him the goodness of life with humans.  Love, patience, and positive training, will in turn, reward you with the love from this wonderful boy! Anderson is being fostered in the Newton, KS area.Click here to watch a video of Anderson.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 28, 2024, 4:42 pm
