And DNA shows she is 100% border collie!!  She wants nothing more in life than to play frisbee, fetch, and spend time romping and wresting with her dog buddies. Willow has a high energy level, a medium herding drive, and is eager to please. She is treat and praise motivated and knows basic commands. She is potty trained and crate trained. Her ideal home would have a 5 foot fence, a playful housemate and a soft couch. She adores children and strangers. Willow would do well as a running companion and is a natural at agility and obedience. She is ready for adventure and is always eager to learn. Willow was born in a rural setting and was penned without much human interaction for her first 6 months of life. She went to new owners and along with their resident Border Collies changed her from a terrified, constantly hiding puppy to a well socialized outgoing adult. Willow came into MO-Kan’s care and is happily living with playful canine housemates including elderly dog and a puppy.   Read about Smooth Coat Border Collies>>>  Willow is being fostered in the Kansas City, MO area. Click here to watch a video of Willow (2023) (Adoption Pending).Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 9, 2024, 12:49 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   Meet Suzi, a charming black and white Border Collie mix, weighing around 40 lbs. She's a true people lover, always ready for affection and cuddles. Suzi enjoys a variety of things and activities such as playing tug, soft squeaky toys, going on walks, frozen peanut butter filled kongs, hard chews, licky mats, snuffle mats, dog puzzles, soft foam dog beds (and maybe a fuzzy one for her head), belly rubs, and giving kisses. She's potty trained and is gradually warming up to her kennel, though she'd rather be by your side. Suzi has a bit of a prey drive, so she's not suited for homes with small animals. She's selective with other dogs, making her a good fit as an only dog or with a submissive dog companion. She's actively learning commands and tricks (sit, lie down, come, wait, here, get it, give it, leave it, place, here, spin, twirl, touch, hide, roll over, crawl and catch) and is eager to please for treats or toys. Suzi is intelligent, inquisitive, and knows when to relax. If you're seeking a Border Collie's intelligence, beauty, and loyalty without the high energy, Suzi is your ideal match. She requires a fenced yard and someone knowledgeable about her breed. She's spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Suzi is currently in foster care in Manhattan, KS.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 9, 2024, 12:49 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   Hi, I am an 40# boy living with my foster family near Wichita, KS. My mom was a Border Collie and we were told my dad was a Great Pyrenees.  I came into foster care at about 8 weeks old, and lucky I did because as I was quickly diagnosed with Parvo virus.  We got to the vet right away and our friends at MOKAN made sure we had the best care!  I am now fully recovered and ready to meet my forever family.  My favorite thing in the whole world is eating breakfast, or dinner, or working for snacks, (are you sensing a theme here?) but I also love to play and wrestle with my foster sister, Rosie.  I love toys and will entertain myself well with a squeaky toy or stuffie. I am a pretty independent guy, so will need to be in a home that has plenty of time for training me to listen to direction and check in more often — I don’t have reliable recall yet but am getting better every day! Don’t worry, I am VERY food motivated (remember my favorite activities), love to learn, and I love people! My foster mom says I am a clinger, which I guess means I always like to be with my people? Of course I do! I am not much of a lap dog, but I appreciate kisses, a bit of snuggling, and endless belly rubs. I settle down well whenever my people are working/sitting/watching TV, and am happy to snooze in foster mom's office while she answers emails, as long as I know there is a walk in my future (and snacks). I would make a good running partner because my long legs have the perfect stride for jogging!  I am crate and house trained.  I am good with other dogs and very respectful of cats — I dont chase them in the house, I just like to look at them and wag my tail! I am up to date on vaccines, neutered, and have been on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Can’t wait to meet you! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   This adorable, black and white border collie, Milo came into rescue after being found abandoned in a barn as a young pup.  He missed out on a couple of important socialization windows, and by the time we met him, he was pretty much scared of everything.  Milo was reactive with other dogs and fearful of people.  He quickly latched on to his new foster parents, but was a bit leery of the other 4 dogs here, as well as other people.  Meet the new and improved Milo!  He was given extensive socialization experiences, starting out with just visiting the feed store and learning to greet people politely.  He’s grown much more confident with people and learning to play nicely with other dogs.  He met with the dogs of another foster for playtime at the dog park.  It was rocky at first, but he now looks forward to meeting up with his friends.  He is also much better at meeting strange dogs, still a bit reactive, but easily redirected. Milo is a super smart little guy.  He learned "sit" very quickly, is house trained, sleeps well, crate trained (but he'd really not, thank-you very much), and has pretty decent recall.  He very much enjoys being outside, going for long walks around the farm, and running and wrestling with his pack, in our large fenced yard.   He is not interested in toys, unless it is a peanut butter-filled Kong.  He does like to “herd” his foster siblings while they run after the ball.  Milo needs mental stimulation to help meet his high energy border collie needs.  While very energetic, he does have an off switch and can move into cuddle mode pretty quickly. Milo would probably be happiest with a younger, energetic dog, who knows how to play fetch, or as an only dog, but with lots of exercise time.  He's not at all toy motivated, but treats are yummmmmy, as is praise...and a ride in the car. This pup must have someone who is familiar with the breed and patient enough to help him continue to develop the confidence he needs.  His leash manners still need work.    Milo will need on-going obedience work.  If you want an energetic, silly, cute, cuddly, loving pup, look no further than Milo the Wonder Pup.  Milo is being fostered in the Holden, MO area.Click here to watch a video of Milo (2023).Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 9, 2024, 12:49 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   Flash is an approximately 12-18 month old male who found himself an unclaimed stray in an Oklahoma shelter.  He’s a happy boy who loves everyone. His favorite things to do are play with his foster brothers and invade your personal space!  Flash will play with other dogs all day long if you let him but he also enjoys a good toy or cuddle as well. Flash also really wants the kitties to play too and can be a pest to them but does not try to hurt them. He would be ok with dog savvy and patient cats.  Flash is housebroken and crate trained but he does sometimes fuss a few minutes in his crate before settling and will let you know when it’s time to get up in the morning.  He rides well crated in the car. Flash enjoys the large fenced yard at his foster home and would do best in a home with a fenced yard to keep him safe and properly exercised.  He has a medium to high energy level.  Flash has not had much formal training before coming into rescue.  He is making a lot of progress on leash walking and his foster home is starting to work with him on learning basic commands.  Flash is a blank slate and still needs to “learn to learn” but once he does we will be better able to evaluate what kind of activities he may be suited for.  However, he would definitely make a great active pet and adventure companion! Flash would absolutely want a playmate in his forever home or a family who can plan plenty of play dates for him! Flash is a big, tall boy weighing in about 50 lbs but is working towards 45.  Flash needs a home that is committed to working on some basic manners and obedience skills so that he can continue his path to being the best boy in town! Flash is being fostered in the Springfield, MO area.Click here to watch a video of Flash.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 9, 2024, 12:49 pm

Boone is a very loving dog. He loves to be loved! He needs plenty of room outdoors to run as he is energetic and super playful. A walk or two would make his day. Playing ball is his favorite! He listens very well and is kennel trained. Gets along great with kids and other animals. He does at times get a little overexcited and pees. Toys and treats are a must in his life.
