Story
🐾 Meet Moon 🖤 📍 Nixa, MO (transport available) Moon is the kind of dog you don’t forget. Those eyes… that face… and the sweetest personality to match. She’s a 6 month old heeler mix who is ready for a fresh start. She’s fully vetted and ready to go, just waiting for someone to give her the chance she deserves. Moon and her sisters were given up when their owner couldn’t care for them anymore… now she’s hoping her next chapter looks very different. ✨ She doesn’t need to stay with her sisters… she just needs someone to say yes. We are a foster to adopt rescue, so you can take that first step without pressure. We just ask for a 2 week commitment to give her time to settle in. If you fall in love (which we think you will), her adoption fee is $350. We understand life isn’t one size fits all, and payment arrangements are available for approved adopters. Story
💕🐾 Meet Paisley! 🐾💕 Paisley is an approximately 3-year-old Border Collie x Labrador Retriever mix — although, as always, your guess is probably as good as ours! What we do know for certain is that this sweet girl has had a rough start. Paisley was found abandoned, clearly having recently nursed puppies… but there were no puppies to be found anywhere. Sadly, we have a pretty good idea that their absence may not have been accidental. 💔 But whatever happened before she arrived here, Paisley is safe now. She came to us a little rough around the edges, but she has received the care, attention, and medical treatment she needed. Now she's ready to put her past behind her and find the forever family she deserves. ❤️ And honestly? You couldn't ask for a sweeter dog. Paisley is affectionate, loving, and VERY kissy. Her favorite place is probably as close to you as physically possible — preferably in your lap, giving you kisses and soaking up all the attention she can get. 🥰 She may be a little lacking in the manners and basic training department, but those are things that can be learned with time, patience, and consistency. Because here's the thing: you can teach a dog manners. You can teach obedience. You can teach her how to be the perfect household companion. But you can't train a personality. And Paisley has a wonderful one. She's ready for someone who will give her the guidance she's missed, the patience she deserves, and most importantly, the love she's been waiting for. Paisley's past may be a mystery, but her future doesn't have to be. Her forever family is out there — and we hope they find her soon. 🐾❤️

Story
Someone did a breed test on one of the dogs in my group (not positive it was a sibling) and it came back with the top two breed border collie and lab. That explains my smartness and loveableness! The Survivor Litter — born brave, built for joy. Meet Bravery, Chance, Courage, Fighter, Grit, Hardy, Perseverance, Resolve, Soldier, Spirit, and Tenacity — a lively crew of pups who have already shown the world what resilience looks like. With bright eyes, wagging tails, and hearts full of hope, they’re ready to start their next chapter. These pups are thriving — safe, warm, vaccinated, and discovering that every day brings something new to love. They’re a mix of sweetness, silliness, and steel spined charm, and they’re looking for families who will celebrate the strength and spirit behind their names. If you’ve been waiting for a sign, this is it. Adopt a Survivor. Give them the joyful ending their story deserves. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2707940##

Story
Whitney, little trigger, or little whitt is ready for a good mom or dad in life. I took her in to find her new life for her, she is an absolute sweetheart who loves water! First time I found that out I took the dogs to the pond at night to check the property and she just dove in head first I thought it was an accident until she did it again! Lol this little girl has loads of potential and too much personality. I want her to go to someone who will spay her and give her a good long life with them ❤️ dogs are a life long commitment and she will definitely be the center of the show. Please contact me about any questions you have for this little spitfire. Thankyou ❤️ ✌🏻

Story
Meet Gretchen! ❤️ Gretchen is an approximately 3-year-old Shepherd x Border Collie mix who is still waiting for someone to see just how special she is. Gretchen came to us from Hills n Hollers Rescue, and as we understand it, she was originally found as a stray. Because of that, we don't know much about where she came from or what her life looked like before rescue. What we do know is that Gretchen has already been a momma. She raised her puppies, watched them grow, and eventually watched every one of them leave for their forever homes. And now... she's still waiting. Gretchen is a shy girl when she first meets you, but once she feels comfortable, her sweet and affectionate personality starts to shine. She really enjoys human attention and seems to be longing for that one-on-one connection with someone she can trust. She's also done well with both dogs and cats, making her a lovely little companion who just needs someone willing to give her the time to come out of her shell. It seems like Gretchen may have been forgotten somewhere along the way. Her babies got their happily-ever-afters, but no one has stepped forward to give Gretchen hers. She's spent enough time taking care of everyone else. Now it's Gretchen's turn to be someone's girl. Her puppies found their forever homes. Now we're hoping someone will finally look past the shy girl in the kennel and discover the affectionate, loving dog waiting underneath. ❤️🐾
