Story
Bob is a Mini Australian Shepherd and beagle mix, due to his breeding he needs an active person and would do really well with a sister or brother dog. He's only been left alone for a couple of hours at a time and behaved very well. He is not and wouldn't do well as a crate trained dog. He's very social and needs a child free home. He might do well with older kids like teenagers. He loves his car rides and sticking his head out the window, he's a hit at his daycare. I don't know if he'll get along with cats. You'll need a well fenced yard as he is an escape artist and digger. Bob comes with everything you need, food, toys, leads, heartworm prevention. If you have any questions please contact me.

Story
Meet Phil and Lil! These two sweet pups were found abandoned out in the countryside, so unfortunately we don’t know much about their early lives. Based on their timid personalities, it seems likely they didn’t have much exposure to the world during their first few months. We estimate they’re around 7 months old, and they appear to be Australian Shepherd mixes—but as always with rescue dogs, your guess is as good as ours. Of the pair, Phil is the more confident one. He’s still shy and needs a little time to warm up, but with patience (and plenty of treats) he begins to show his gentle, affectionate side. Once he realizes you’re safe, you can see how much he wants to trust and connect. Phil is a very sweet boy at heart—just a little unsure of the world right now. Lil is having a harder time adjusting to shelter life. When people pass by her kennel, she often bolts to the outside area because she feels overwhelmed and uncomfortable. It’s clear she hasn’t had much human interaction in her short life, and everything still feels very new and scary to her. Lil is a very special girl who will need a very patient and understanding family—someone willing to move at her pace and give her the time she needs to feel safe. Both Phil and Lil will need a lot of catch-up when it comes to socialization. New experiences, new people, and everyday life are things they’re still learning about. With patient families, gentle encouragement, and positive experiences, they have every chance to grow in confidence and blossom into wonderful companions. These pups just need someone willing to believe in them and help show them the world isn’t such a scary place. 💛

Story
Hi, I'm Evie! I'm a 1.5 year old girl that's the perfect size, sitting at just 40 lbs! I'm a great girl and get along well with everyone. I'm currently in a foster home and they say I'm just the sweetest. I do good at home and seem to be potty-trained when kept on a good schedule. I'm waiting for that perfect home just for me. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2681290##
