Story
Fred is a shy but happy guy. His owner passed away and he found himself at the shelter as no family wanted him. He's looking for a home where he'll have plenty of room to run around and sniff all the great things outside. He may happier in a solo pet home, but he has lived with 2 other dogs in the past. This dog has a history of seizures, according to his medical record (Rolling Hills Vet, Columbia, MO). He does not have an official diagnosis and is not currently on medication. However, it's possible that, if seizures are observed, diagnosis and/or treatment will be needed under the care of the adopter's veterinarian. Bloodwork was performed on 3/7 and all parameters were within normal limits Volunteers say "I spent some time with Fred today! He was very sweet and did well once he settled down on the walk. Lots of sniffs! He was pretty excited and pulled a lot when we saw small animals like squirrels. He definitely seemed interested in a dog we passed and pulled a bit/stared but didn't bark. He lost interest after he past and was back to sniffing. He also was not very food motivated but maybe he didn't like the treats I was offering." "Fred and I went for a walk on Mizzous campus and drove around town, while he stuck his head out of the window. Fred loved being in the car. But, he also loved to run around outside. Fred is so loving, so I think he would do best in a family home or be a good companion to someone who loves to give pets. Fred may be a little older but he's as friendly and agile as a puppy. I know Fred is going to make his future family members feel so loved and cared for! The most unique trait about Fred is that he is so grateful. Fred was leaning up against us and asking for love the entire afternoon." "Fred is cool!! He was friendly, affectionate, very energetic, and smart. Fred was great to walk with and although we didn't run, he definitely would have loved it if I'd said "Let's go! He was very interested in any people/dogs that we passed, but was completely responsive to my words to keep on walking. He was also very gentle taking treats! Fred is a great dog, he needs a lot of exercise and one-on-one connection and he's very eager to please."
