Story
Sadie is currently at a rescue in Oklahoma. We are looking for a home in a state where people treat their animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport near one of the cities listed at the bottom. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, she will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Sadie is 2 1/2 years old (December 1) and is possibly a Border Collie/Lab mix. -Come into the local shelter in Summer 2023 as a small puppy. Transferred to our rescue on June 7th -Just went through heartworm treatment and tested negative as of December 9th! -Used to be shy and timid....now she is well socialized and loves to get all of your attention and she's not afraid to ask for it! -Energetic breed who would love a nice yard to run in and a family to love on. -35-40 pounds. -Gets along with other dogs. Would do best in a home with another dog to play with. Does like to be the "alpha" with some females (never aggressive). Gets along great with males -She can walk on a leash, but it does need some work. -If home has kids, must be 10+ -Video of Sadie from December 1: https://youtube.com/shorts/idXhtmRwhwg Sadie is spayed, vaccinated (Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella), dewormed, microchipped, on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. She had a negative heartworm test on December 9th. Health certificate and exam will be performed less than 10 days prior to transport. Adoption fee is $700 total, this is including all vetting above and transport cost. If you are interested in adopting Sadie, please fill out this application: https://form.jotform.com/243134969050053 After filling out your application, you can text/call Annetta 580-257-0622 or email luckypawsdoghouse@gmail.com if you'd like. Story
GRACIE (and her sister CHECKERS) are newer to the rescue and are sweet Border Collie mix pups born back in May. She's right around 25 lbs at the moment and will be a medium adult. She's good with other dogs and cats and loves people and getting attention and loving from them. Gracie is fully vetted and has done wonderfully at the rescue events we have brought her to. (DOB ~4/25/25) We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply ! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

CHECKERS (and her sister GRACIE) are sweet Border Collie mix puppies born back in April. She's right around 25 lbs at the moment and will be a medium adult. She's good with other dogs and loves people and getting attention and loving from them and has done wonderfully at the events we've brought her to recently. She's very playful (loves running around outside!), as well and does great with school-aged kid. She is fully vetted. (~dob 4/25/25) 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Story
This sweet senior pup is 11 years old and a true gentle soul. He is very well-behaved, fully house trained, and the happiest when he can lay quietly next to his person and keep them company. He gets along well with other dogs and cats and currently lives in a home with young children, always being gentle and appropriate with them. That said, the constant activity and noise of a busy household can cause him anxiety, so he would do best in a calmer, low-key home where he can fully relax and feel at ease. He has so much love to give and would be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal, peaceful presence. 🐾

Story
This is a high-energy breed and requires regular exercise and mental stimulation. He needs space to run and would do best with someone who can dedicate time and attention to meeting those needs. He lived with another dog for the first year of his life, without any issues but when we tried a new situation with other (new) dogs it didn't go as well as we had hoped. He was much on the defense but probably due to new environment as well. It is suggested he be the only pet in the home, at least to start. His ideal home would most likely be with a young adult or individual living alone, who wants to spend their free time providing structure, exercise, and companionship. He is very smart and wants to please you! Age: Just over 1 year old Breed: Texas healer, Aust. Shepard, Boarder Collie Status: Neutered, Potty trained and Crate trained. With a little coaxing he resides to his crate at night, barking only for a bit and is used to the crate during work hours as well if needed.
