Meet Artemis
Artemis is a 4-year-old spayed Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix with a heart as big as her brain. Sweet, sensitive, and deeply devoted to her people, she is looking for a home that understands her unique blend of energy, intelligence, and affection.
As a herding breed mix, Artemis is an active girl who thrives when she has an outlet for both her body and mind. She loves playing fetch, enjoys herding-style games, and would do best with a securely fenced yard or a farm-like environment where she has room to run and explore. Just as importantly, Artemis is incredibly intelligent and enjoys puzzle toys, training exercises, and other mental challenges. If she doesn't have appropriate ways to use her brain, she'll gladly invent her own entertainment!
Despite her energy, Artemis has an excellent off-switch. She sleeps soundly through the night, settles nicely in the home, and absolutely adores cuddling with her favorite people. She is house-trained, knows her manners, and has completed all three levels of PetSmart training. She has even earned her Canine Good Citizen certification, demonstrating her willingness to learn and work alongside her handler.
Artemis is very people-oriented and forms deep bonds with those she trusts. She loves routine, consistency, and having clear expectations. Like many herding breeds, she can be vocal when she spots exciting triggers such as squirrels, delivery trucks, or children running by. Her recall is still a work in progress, but she responds well to training and positive reinforcement.
Because Artemis is such a sensitive soul, she requires a gentle approach to training and handling. Harsh corrections, punishment-based methods, or adverse training techniques are not appropriate for her. She can become anxious around loud noises, fast-moving vehicles, vacuum cleaners, ceiling fans, and other overwhelming sights and sounds. The good news is that with patience, consistency, and reward-based training, Artemis has already made tremendous progress and continues to build confidence every day.
Artemis is seeking a home where she can be the only dog, allowing her to fully relax and enjoy being the center of her family's attention. In return, she offers unwavering loyalty, endless cuddles, impressive intelligence, and the kind of bond that makes all the extra effort worthwhile.
