Story
If you've ever wished a fox could be your best friend (without all the wild antics), then Minnow is ready to make your dreams come true! At just 2 years old, this adorable Border Collie mix is the perfect medium-small size—ideal for someone looking for a dog that's easy to handle without sacrificing personality. Whether you're a senior looking for a walking buddy or a family wanting a loyal companion, Minnow is ready to be your sidekick. Minnow arrived as an unclaimed stray, but she's left that chapter behind and is looking for a forever home where she can truly settle in. She's a sweet, affectionate girl who absolutely loves being with her people. Because of that, she's shown a few signs that being left alone can be a little stressful for her. She's quite vocal in her kennel and craves attention, so her new family should be prepared to help her build confidence through patience, routine, and positive training. This clever girl is eager to please and would thrive with clear boundaries, consistent expectations, and fun mental enrichment. Puzzle toys, sniffy walks, basic training, and learning new tricks? That's Minnow's kind of day! We think she's the type of dog who will blossom once she knows what's expected of her. She appears to be house-trained, with accidents only occurring during long overnight stays at the shelter. Minnow may enjoy having a calm, well-mannered canine friend, although introductions should be done thoughtfully, as she can be a bit snappy if another dog challenges her. Small animals have not been tested. Because Minnow has quite the set of vocal cords, she'd be happiest in a detached home rather than an apartment, condo, townhouse, or other shared-living situation where her conversations with the world might not be appreciated by the neighbours. Minnow is looking for someone who will see beyond her loud hello and discover the incredibly loving, intelligent little fox hiding underneath. Give her a little guidance, a predictable routine, and plenty of affection, and she'll reward you with unwavering loyalty and endless love. Could Minnow be the missing piece of your family? Please complete an adoption request: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families. *Please note: we only adopt within Ontario

Sure enough, she was found to have heartworm with microfilaria present (Baby Heartworm) and so her healing journey begins! We are looking for a LONG-term foster home or a foster2adopt home that can follow through with her treatment. Story
George is a two-year-old male, roughly 45 pounds. He is a cross of some kind, perhaps between a border collie and some sort of hound? He is dignified, polite, intelligent, good-natured, loves to run and play and have his belly rubbed: he shows affection quietly, by coming and placing his head against you. He is neutered, microchipped and house-trained. He is very good with people, and generally with other dogs, at least off-leash. He can panic, however, on-leash, if he gets in close quarters with another dog. We think he must have broken his left hind foot at some point in the past: it has healed, and he can run very fast on it, but occasionally favours it, and has begun to develop arthritis. He currently lives with 2 dogs listed on our site: Pipo and Karti. George and Pipo are especially good together.  George's ideal home would be one with people who are calm and are experienced with large dogs. One where he's allowed on the couch and bed. His foster home is in  midtown Toronto.  Due to time constraints, we cannot respond to every email asking for more information on a dog. Story
Pongo / Neutered Male / 6 Months / Lab mix? / Dogs: Yes / Cats: Yes / Kids: 13+ / Location: East Garafraxa Meet Pongo (again!) This handsome boy was adopted earlier this year but sadly returned just a month later. Pongo is a truly special pup who needs an equally special home to match. At just 6 months old and 45 lbs, Pongo is full of energy, smarts, and heart. While we were told he might be a Border Collie/Lab mix, we aren’t entirely sure, what we do know is that he won’t get too much bigger and that he’s 100% adorable. Pongo can be nervous in new situations or around unfamiliar people, but he’s been working so hard to overcome this. He even spent several weeks with our friends at stylek9dogtraining, where he learned amazing skills that will set him up for success. His future family will continue his journey with a few follow up classes, already covered in his adoption fee, because consistency is key for this sensitive boy. What makes Pongo amazing: Walks beautifully on leash, calmly and politely (even sitting at stops!) Crate trained & fully housebroken Snuggle king who always wants to be near his people Playful, smart, and food motivated, he learns fast! Loves doggy friends, is good with cats, and would thrive with or without another dog in the home Because of his nervous nature, Pongo would do best with older, dog savvy kids. A yard to run, play, and chase squirrels would be a dream for him. To help him settle in, Pongo will even come with his special “place bed” included in his adoption fee, we want to give him every chance to succeed. Pongo is sweet, loving, and so ready for a family who will understand his past and nurture his bright future. Could that be you? https://forms.gle/gMSrMCVFqQ3fb5gN8

Story
Pipo (pronounced Peepo) is a 5-year-old male, roughly 40 pounds. He appears to be a cross of some kind, perhaps husky and border collie. He is energetic, shy, bouncy, highly alert: just the gentlest, sweetest disposition and again, very affectionate. Pipo loves nothing more than to snuggle on the couch, or in bed. He is neutered, microchipped and 95 per cent house-trained -- but can occasionally lapse if left alone in the house too long. He is very good with people and dogs. His main issue is with cyclists: if they come near him he will lunge suddenly towards them, not aggressively but just out of excitement. His recall is not great and he likes to jump, so any off-leash any off-leash activity, at least in the short term, MUST be in a fully-enclosed space, with a high fence.  He currently lives with 2 dogs and would do well with another neutral or meek dog in the home. Pipo is quite sensitive and needs a very gentle home. His ideal home would be one where he is the centre of attention, where he can cuddle on the couch and bed. A home with someone who is experienced with rescued dogs and reactivity, and only uses positive reinforcement. His foster home is in  midtown Toronto.  Due to time constraints, we cannot respond to every email asking for more information on a dog.
