APPLY TO FOSTER TO ADOPTFostered in Waterdown Ontario Meet Ruby, a stunning reddish-brown Australian Shepherd mix with a heart as big as her energy for life! Ruby is the perfect blend of intelligence, athleticism, and affection. This sweet, gentle girl has already proven herself to be a great foster pup, and now she’s ready to find a forever home where she can truly shine. Ruby is friendly, quiet, non-destructive, and loves being part of the action - whether that’s playing with toys, engaging in training, or joining her doggy daycare buddies twice a week (where she’s thriving!). She walks nicely on leash, is house-trained, crate-savvy, and has no medical concerns. Ruby would do best in an active, adult-focused home that can provide her with plenty of exercise, enrichment, and continued training. She’s highly toy-motivated and would excel in dog sports like agility, dock diving, or frisbee. She has some herding instincts and a touch of excitability, so she’d benefit from a home that appreciates her drive and is excited to help her channel it into fun, structured activities. Ruby gets along well with other calm dogs, is friendly with people (though she may be a bit shy with men at first), and is eager to bond deeply with her humans. If you’re looking for a loyal, smart, and active companion to share your adventures, Ruby might just be your perfect match!Name: RubyBreed: Australian Shepherd X Mystery Mutt!Age: ~1.5 yearsWeight: ~35lbSex: Female, spayedColour: Reddish brownMedical: No concerns Good with men: Yes, but shy and warms up quicklyGood with women: Yes, friendly and outgoingGood with kids 0-6: Unknown, not testedGood with kids 7-15: Unknown, not tested - suspect yes Has this dog ever bitten or attempted to bite? Story
Oreo is a 3-year-old male Border Collie/Jindo mix who was rescued from a shelter just before he was scheduled for euthanasia. Sadly, and for unknown reasons, before finding himself abandoned and alone at the shelter, his teeth had been deliberately ground down. Amazingly and despite this, he remains a lively, energetic, and otherwise healthy dog who is remarkably intelligent, craves human interaction, and is very loyal to his guardian. Oreo has the exceptional intelligence typical of Border Collies, fully understanding various commands such as "sit," "wait," and "house." He is also deeply loyal to his guardian and has a strong capacity for forming deep bonds typical of the Jindo breed. He is truly a remarkable dog who has the capacity to grow into an even more amazing companion through continued obedience training and by establishing a trusting relationship with his guardian. Oreo is incredibly affectionate and loves people. He is also very social and gets along well with other dogs. However, he has a habit of jumping when excited, which requires caution when a person is interacting with him in a low position. With consistent training, this behavior can be corrected. Being highly energetic, Oreo possesses excellent jumping ability. At the training center, he has been known to leap over fences—not out of a desire to escape, but due to his curiosity and strong attachment to his guardian. In fact, he has demonstrated behavior where he jumps over a fence when he hears his guardian's voice outside, only to return shortly after. For this reason, families with yards should ensure proper supervision, and a high-fenced environment may be more suitable. The Ideal Family for Oreo is: ✔️ Someone who understands the high intelligence and energy levels of Border Collies, the exceptional loyalty of Jindos, and can provide sufficient mental and physical stimulation ✔️ Someone with experience in training or handling large dogs ✔️ Someone who values bonding with their dog and is ready to build a deep connection ✔️ Someone who can provide ample space for Oreo to move and exercise freely Despite his heartbreaking past, Oreo still loves people and finds his greatest happiness in being with his guardian. With so much intelligence and energy, he has limitless potential to become the perfect lifelong companion if he meets the right family, one that understands him and is ready to provide him with love, care, and proper training. Oreo is waiting for his new family! ❤️

Story
Meet Aesop – A Tiny Survivor with a Big Personality   Approximately 3 Months Old Female (Not yet) Border Collie Mix 5.5kg | 33cm shoulder height   Aesop’s story began in a shelter after her Border Collie mother was brought in while pregnant in February. Sadly, out of three puppies born at the shelter, only one survived — little Aesop. Despite such a difficult beginning, she has grown into a bright, affectionate, and confident puppy full of life and love.   ‍‍ Social with People Aesop is an incredibly social and people-loving puppy. She happily approaches both familiar people and strangers, enjoys affection from everyone, and easily allows handling. She loves both men and women, enjoys being picked up, and will even roll over to show her belly to people she has just met.   Social with Other Dogs She is equally friendly with other dogs and loves to greet and play with everyone she meets. Even large dogs don’t intimidate her — she confidently bounces right in to play! She may act fearless with other dogs, but when playing with her mom, she quickly rolls over belly-up like the sweetest little daughter.   Cats Her reaction to cats has not yet been observed, but cat testing can be arranged.   Energy Level Aesop has a typical puppy energy level. She enjoys running around and playing, but also sleeps a lot and settles down nicely after activity.   Walks She has not yet had formal walks outdoors due to her young age.   Other Notes No food guarding toward people or other dogs Calm and quiet inside a kennel/crate Currently uses both pee pads indoors and pottys outdoors   She does show some mild separation anxiety at first and may bark when initially left alone, though she typically begins adjusting after a few days. Continued training and gradual independence practice will help her build confidence.   Like many smart puppies, Aesop can also be a little vocal when she wants something!   Aesop is looking for a loving family ready to guide a smart, social, and affectionate puppy through all the adventures of growing up. With her confidence, sweetness, and resilient spirit, she is sure to become an amazing lifelong companion. Story
*Note: Winnie is currently in Korea but he will be arriving in Toronto once he is adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please click here.BackgroundWinnie was rescued in April 2023 from a breeding facility in Boryeong, South Korea. After his rescue, he stayed at a dog training center because there was no space available at our partner boarding house. This spring, we finally had space to bring him back to our partner boarding house. Now, it is his turn to find the loving forever home he has been waiting for.Personality and SocializationWinnie is a cheerful, people-loving dog with a lot of affection to give. He is comfortable with both men and women right away, with no shyness around strangers. He is a very happy and playful boy who loves greeting everyone he meets. He is the kind of dog who gets excited to see people and always makes his happiness known. With other dogs, Winnie is social and gets along with most. He does best with dogs who can match his energy and enjoy play. Dogs that are rude or overly chaotic are not his preference, and he will let them know. His ideal playmate is one who loves to run and play alongside him. Winnie has no known experience with cats.BehavioursWinnie is well practiced in daily routines. He travels well in the car, handles vet visits calmly, and has no trouble with baths. He has good experience with leash walking. He prefers to do his business outdoors. He has not shown signs of separation anxiety or destructive behaviours.Health and DietWinnie is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and up to date on his vaccinations. He also receives monthly parasite prevention. When he was rescued, he was diagnosed with heartworm, but he completed his treatment successfully and has no medical history that requires ongoing follow up care.He eats kibble twice a day and, so far, has not shown any allergies.Ideal HomeWinnie would be happiest with a family that enjoys spending lots of time with their dog, especially going outdoors and doing activities together. He would also love having a playful dog sibling to run around and snuggle with. A home with someone who works from home or is retired would be ideal for Winnie. He would do best in a house rather than a busy downtown condo environment. Winnie is a very loving and affectionate boy. Whoever welcomes this sweet boy into their family will be very lucky.*Note: Winnie is currently in Korea but he will be arriving in Toronto once he is adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please click here.

Story
Meet Tracker — part Heeler, part goofball, part amateur detective, and 100% ready to find his people. When Tracker first arrived, he acted like someone had accidentally dropped him into the wrong movie. He was timid, shaky, and clearly unsure about this whole “meeting new humans” situation. But after some time to decompress, the real Tracker has started making an appearance — and spoiler alert: he’s pretty great. These days, Tracker happily walks up to staff members on his own for attention and pets, proving that underneath that nervous beginning was just a sweet young dog waiting for the world to feel a little safer. Watching his confidence grow has honestly been one of our favourite glow-ups. True to his name, Tracker is very serious about investigating every blade of grass, leaf, squirrel rumour, and mysterious sidewalk smell on walks. Sniffing is his passion. Is he solving crimes? Mapping secret treasure routes? Conducting important neighbourhood business? We may never know. He’s a medium-energy boy who enjoys getting out and exploring, and as a young Heeler cross, he’ll need both physical exercise and mental stimulation to keep his clever brain happy. Puzzle toys, adventures, training sessions, and sniff-heavy walks will all be right up his alley. During his dog assessment, Tracker was playful and polite with a much larger intact male dog, and we believe he could happily live with another playful canine companion if introductions are done properly. We also feel he could do well with dog-savvy children who understand that sometimes a young dog needs a little patience while building confidence. Now, fair warning: Tracker currently believes leash walking is a full upper-body workout for his humans. He can be strong on leash, but with obedience training and positive reinforcement, he should improve quickly. In fact, we strongly recommend enrolling him in training right away — not only to help polish his manners, but because smart dogs like Tracker absolutely thrive when given structure and learning opportunities. At the end of the day, Tracker is a sweet, sensitive young dog who just needed a little time for his personality to shine. Now that it has, he’s ready to find a home where he can continue building confidence, making friends, and living his very best adventure-dog life. Please complete an adoption application: Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families. https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions *Please note: we only adopt within Ontario

Story
Marco is a purebred, Australian cattle dog a.k.a. blue heeler. He was born with a bilateral cleft lip. This birth defect does not stop him from doing anything. A normal dog would do. He eats just like a normal dog would eat. You just have to brush his teeth a little more often in that area to get the food out and check for grass or sticks that may get stuck in there. Please note this is not the same thing as a cleft palette. This is just a cleft lip and he can eat any type of food completely fine. Marco may look a bit different but he is a gorgeous boy. Marco is currently 5-8 months old 17 pounds. Male Heelers are typically 40-50 pounds fully grown. He is very timid and shy and under socialized but a gentle, nervous boy who has a huge heart and a beautiful soul. He does nervous pee so we are working on this and I do not think this will be forever I think once he gain some confidence, he will be perfectly fine. He gets very nervous with new people, dogs, and places. He needs a committed adopter willing to socialize him, be patient, loving , kind, and start on some basic puppy 101 training when he is ready. He is a nervous nelly but has the absolute sweetest soul. Please give him a chance !!
