Meet Rooney. This handsome black-and-white senior is a 9–10-year-old Border Collie mix who came to us from local animal control. He hasn’t had an easy life, but he has a gentle heart and a real love for adventure. Rooney is a special-needs boy. He has cataracts and is going blind—currently he has roughly 50% vision. We want him to experience and enjoy all the sights he still can, and we’re hoping to place him in a loving home where he can feel safe, comfortable, and cherished for the rest of his life. Rooney is a sweet, loyal guy who enjoys exploring and will make a wonderful walking partner. He thrives on routine, reassurance, and quiet companionship. Because of his limited vision and past experiences, Rooney must be the only pet in the home—no cats, no other dogs—and he is not suitable for a household with children. Despite everything he has been through, this old soul still has so much love left to give. He deserves a calm, patient adopter who will help him navigate his world and give him the kindness and stability he’s always deserved. I adopted Leia from someone in Harrisburg. She did come from two farm dogs. She's extremely playful, energetic, and cuddly. She definitely needs someone who can give her the attention that she so desires. Back when I had more time, I'd take her and my shepherd to hike in the woods and I do trust her off leash out there. She does chase deer and squirrels, but always comes back and has never caught up to them. Aside from the time constraints, the other reason I'm hoping to re home her is because she gets car sick. So, I'm hoping that she can go somewhere with a large property. I think she'd do fantastic somewhere either with a large fenced in yard or just no close by neighbors. As far as cats go, she seems terrified. I figured that was a farm cat thing from when she was a pup, because I have no cats, myself. Ask any questions you like! I want Leia to get the best life possible.

Our app can be found at haydudeequine.org Hey. I’m Walker. I am the smallest of the litter, and the one who takes “think before you leap” seriously. People say I’m a Border Collie–Lab mix, which means I got the smarts of a Collie… but luckily not the full-throttle, never-stop-running energy. I’m more of a medium-energy guy. I’ll solve the puzzle, then take a nap about it. I’m also the shy one. When I first meet someone I do this whole “I’m just a mysterious black-and-white shadow observing from a safe distance” routine. Give me thirty seconds and a kind word, though, and the act falls apart. Suddenly I’m all wiggles, soft eyes, and “okay fine, you’re my person now.” I warm up fast once I decide the coast is clear. I’m happy-go-lucky in the best way — not the bouncing-off-the-walls kind, more the “life is pretty great and I plan to enjoy it at a reasonable speed” kind. I like other dogs, I like people, and I especially like water. My early chapter wasn’t great. My story started on a property with a bunch of unfixed adult dogs. It wasn’t an easy beginning. Almost all of my littermates didn’t make it—they were lost to the heat and parasites. Somehow I held on. I’m one who made it out. I’m looking for a home that appreciates a slightly dramatic, medium-energy smarty-pants who will stick close once he trusts you… and who will pretend not to notice when I overthink a simple treat.
