Story
Ava is 5 years old and loves people. Loves any and all attention you are willing to give. She is more of an inside dog than out. If you're playing with her or just even out with her, she's ok staying out too. She does not like being alone for too long outside unless she has other companions to play and adventure with. Ava loves to run and play and go for walks. You wont have to worry about holes in the yard as she does not really dig. However, car rides are not her thing. She is very anxious when it comes to getting in the vehicle. She gets along really well with other animals. She is house and kennel trained. Im looking for someone or a family that will love her as much as we do. Who will give her the love, attention, and care she deserves. Ava is a really good dog and unfortunately, we have to move and the expenses she requires is more than what I can afford with 3 children and the cost of living. Im really hoping we can find a perfect fit for not only her, but as you as well.

Story
Ellie is almost 2. We found her abandoned, hurt an malnourished a little over a year ago. After a few months of vet bills an posting heron line to find her family - we decided to keep her. We have had her spayed, microchipped and is fully up to date on shots. She is very loving.Great without 8 and 2 year old grandkids. She does get along with our cats. She loves to herd them out of a room. Its her breed. She listens to basic commands well. She is in house dog so she loves to cuddle an sit on laps. She's afraid of other dogs.Vet seems to think this comes from her last home - something that may have happened. We have tried introducing her to docile large and small dogs all with the same results. It scares her. She needs to be the only dog. She also hates being on a leash when it's needed - again from her last home. We have a farm and she is free to roam recalls easily. Our situation is our adult daughter is moving home and has her emotional support dog- Ellie gets too scared.

Story
Meet Banjo! Banjo is approximately 1 year old and is thought to be an Australian Cattle Dog type mix. Banjo was found as a stray, so unfortunately we don't know what his life was like prior to being found and we are learning a little bit more about him every day. When he first arrived, he was a bit shy with new people and seemed unsure as to who he could trust. It didn't take him more than a couple of days to learn that everyone here is a friend! For anyone who has not previously owned or been with Australian Cattle Dogs/Blue Heelers, we encourage you to do lots of research before applying. Heelers are a highly-driven, highly-active breed who often use their mouths to communicate. They also love to chase/herd, which is important for parents of toddlers & young children to remember. He is a very playful dog who loves fetch, chases bugs, and is very agile! Banjo will not be a good match for someone who wants a couch potato ;) We don't know Banjo's history with other animals, so we recommend slow introductions, safe separation & time for everyone to settle in if he goes into a home with other pets. It's important to understand that Banjo is still learning the new environment here in the shelter, and will again have to start over by learning all of the new sights, sounds and smells of your home, so give him plenty of time to figure all of that out. This little guy is so much fun, so happy to learn (he's wicked smart!) and ready to find an active & involved owner! If that might be you, follow the link below. We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been generally approved:https://monroecountydogshelter.com/apply-adopt.htmlBanjo will be neutered & vaccinated prior to adoption. His adoption fee is $200.
