Story
Meet Harlow! Harlow is approximately 1 year old and is thought to be a possible Border Collie-type mix. Harlow was seen running on his own for about 4 weeks. During this time, he would be seen instigating play with dogs in the neighborhood, but would get spooked and run anytime someone tried to contain him. Eventually, someone was able to gain his trust and after a month of being scared and alone, he was brought to safety! We don't know if he was dumped and abandoned by his family, or if he just found himself lost, but either way, we promised him the best future we could provide! Harlow is still decompressing and understandably overwhelmed, so we're taking things one day at a time. He's very sweet and friendly, and even though he's still insecure (totally expected after what he's been through!), he turns to the closest human for reassurance and comfort. Harlow might spook easily, so safe containment anytime he's outdoors will be very important. This could certainly improve over time after he's settled with a new family and familiar with voices/commands, but until he feels fully safe and bonded with someone, a leash or a fence would be best. Harlow should do well with other pets and respectful children as long as everyone is properly introduced and supervised. He would benefit from a family who is willing to work with him on anything he might not know (his past is unknown at this time). Breeds like Harlow tend to be quick learners and bond quickly with their humans. If you have a little extra patience, we know Harlow is going to be a wonderful family pet! We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been approved: https://www.co.monroe.wi.us/home/showpublisheddocument/35564 (please email this PDF to monroecountydogshelter@gmail.com) Harlow is now neutered & current on vaccines. His adoption fee is $200.

Story
Hi, I'm Cash! I'm a 2-year-old male heeler. I am current on my vaccines, neutered, and soon to be heartworm tested and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Friendly, Curious, Affectionate Words from Cash's foster mom: Cash is doing great in our home! He is fantastic with our dog and family. It is incredible to see how much things have changed for Cash in just one week. He went potty in the house the first two days, but he's done perfectly since then.?? We could hardly get him in the door that first night, and now he's coming up to us for pets and licks. He loves the crate and spends most of his day in there, but he relaxed outside of the crate for a little more than an hour the past two evenings. We bring the crate into our bedroom every night, and he loves sleeping in the same room. He is still skittish from time to time, but overall he seems happy and comfortable. I was brought to CRHS after being rescued from a large scale animal neglect case in Juneau County where around 80 other dogs were saved. Due to my rough start, I am a bit of a shy guy. I would appreciate a calm living environment and my forever family will need to be willing to take things at my pace. Once I get to know you I'm super friendly and affectionate. I'll be a lap dog in no time! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 7/10 Housetraining Status: Foster family says after a couple of days he does well!! I should do well in a home: Due to my nervous temperament any children in my potential home will need to be 5 years or older. I should do well with other dogs given proper introductions and time to adjust. My friends at CRHS are unsure how I'd do with cats. My favorite activities are: Getting affection, going for walks, and enjoying the outdoors! Things I need work on are: Learning what everything is in this big world is/learning how to be a dog, basic commands. My adoption fee is: $300 *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Hi, I'm Tiny! I'm a 1-year-old female heeler. I am current on my vaccines, spayed, microchipped and heartworm negative! 3 words that describe me: Friendly, Curious, Affectionate Words from Tiny's foster mom: Tiny has come so far since coming to our home. She has mastered the use of stairs, now welcomes visitors with ease and takes snacks from us. She loves going for walks and playing outside in the fenced yard. She wags her tail and loves being a dog! She'd do well to have another friendly dog in the home that can help her keep building her confidence! I was brought to CRHS after being rescued from a large scale animal neglect case in Juneau County where around 80 other dogs were saved. Due to my rough start, I am a bit of a shy lady when I first meet people. I would appreciate a calm living environment and my forever family will need to be willing to take things at my pace. Once I get to know you I'm super friendly and affectionate. I'll be a lap dog in no time! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 7/10 Housetraining Status: Foster family says after a couple of days she is amazing! I should do well in a home: Due to Tiny getting startled easily, any kids in the home should be 5+ who will not startle or scare/chase her. She should do well with other dogs given slow and proper introductions. My friends at CRHS are unsure how I'd do with cats as I've never lived with one. My favorite activities are: Getting affection, going for walks, and enjoying the outdoors! Things I need work on are: Building her confidence, basic commands.
