Some dogs just need a little extra time to discover that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. And sweet Poppi is proof that with patience, kindness, and a few good dog friends, beautiful things can happen. 🥹❤️
Meet Poppi, a 2½-year-old, 40-pound Terrier mix with the most adorable scruffy, tricolored coat and a heart that’s just beginning to bloom! 🌼
Poppi’s story hasn’t exactly been filled with the adventures every young dog deserves. When her owner could no longer care for her, she found herself in long-term outdoor boarding in eastern Arizona, where she spent a significant portion of her young life. She missed out on so many of the everyday experiences that help a dog feel confident and comfortable in the world.
When Poppi first arrived with us, everything was overwhelming. New surroundings, new people, new experiences… she was unsure, nervous, and understandably a little intimidated by it all.
But look at her now! 🥰
With time, patience, and the encouragement of her four-legged friends, Poppi is finally starting to come out of her shell. And watching her confidence grow has been incredibly rewarding!
🐶 A FEW THINGS TO LOVE ABOUT POPPI:
* Approximately 2½ years old and 40 lbs
* Adorable scruffy, tricolored Terrier mix
* Dog-friendly and LOVES to play with dogs of all sizes!
* Needs a confident, friendly resident dog to show her the ropes and help her continue building confidence
* Doing fantastic with her potty training!
* Enjoys her crate, although she’s discovered that freedom and lounging around the house are pretty wonderful, too!
* Cats and children are currently unknown
* Requires a securely fenced yard
🏡 HER DREAM HOME?
Poppi isn’t looking for perfection. She’s looking for patience.
She needs a loving, understanding home that will give her the time and space to continue blossoming at her own pace. A confident, playful resident dog is a MUST for Poppi. Having a canine companion to follow, play with, and learn from will make all the difference as she continues discovering just how wonderful life can be.
And when playtime is over? We imagine Poppi would be perfectly happy spending her afternoons lounging in a sunny spot, curling up on a soft bed inside, and enjoying all the little comforts she’s waited so long to experience. ☀️🛏️
Poppi has spent far too much of her young life without the opportunity to simply be a dog. Now it’s her turn to experience the good stuff: a family, a home, adventures, playmates, and a place where she finally belongs.
💉 HER VETTING: Poppi is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and has just one remaining veterinary appointment before completing her care. She is accepting adoption applications NOW!
