Story
Benny was found running the streets in a stray dog pack in the Rio Grande Valley. When he first came here, he was fearful around men and could be a bully to new dogs, but he's come a long way since then. Once he gets to know you, he's a sweet, funny, playful dog who wants to be with you as much as possible. Benny was initially cat-aggressive, but he's been around cats for several months and has grown used to them. He mostly ignores them but sometimes chases them. He can be around cats, but should not be left alone with them. (I kennel him when we leave.) Benny gets along well with most female dogs, but he can be dominant towards male dogs. He shows some resource guarding of both food and people and seems to want to "defend" his people from other dogs. That doesn't mean he can't get along with other dogs or other male dogs, but he needs to be introduced to other dogs carefully. The same can be true for introducing him to new people---he needs some time to build trust. Someone who is willing to take time and socialize Benny with other people and animals would be a great adopter. Benny is a great dog who really wants to please. He is loving, affectionate, and playful.

Story
6-9 months, 38 lbs and probably not much bigger. Ideal work-from-home companion, ESA animal or family pet. This sweet girl has an unconditional trust of every human she meets. We found her starving, stinking like skunk and covered in bugs on the side of the road. She came right to us without hesitation. After everything she had been through she is still fully convinced that every human is her new bestie. After a bath, her first meal in weeks and sleeping for two days her personality began to sparkle through. She LOVES to cuddle on the couch and curl up next to a sleeping human, particularly kids. She has a puppy love of chewing but is gentle with her mouth around humans. If an adult is on the computer she is content to curl up on a bed beneath the desk. Around familiar dogs she is playful, submissive and defers to her elders without drama. But she is often intimidated by new dogs and will bark at them. Heartworm positive, will need treatment.

Story
Harley is a pretty girl with a gentle heart. She may be a little shy when meeting new people, but it's clear she wants to connect. Give her the time and space to build trust, and you'll be rewarded with one of the sweetest companions you could ever hope to meet. Once Harley feels safe, her affectionate side shines. She loves climbing into a trusted person's lap, gazing into their eyes, and soaking up all the love and attention she can get. Harley is at a wonderful stage of life—still playful and ready for adventures, yet happily well beyond the puppy phase. She also does well with other dogs who match her energy. We believe Harley's best days are still ahead, and that the family willing to give her a little patience will be rewarded with a loyal, devoted friend for years to come. To set up a no-obligation meet and greet with Harley, please visit wimberleywagrescue.org and fill out an application. Harley is ready for her second chance—and she just might be the perfect addition to your family.

Story
This is George around 11 years per lady that re- homed him, owner passed away. I took George in around 10 months ago. He loves to walk and play ball. George is healthy, at the time I took in 3 dogs to save from shelter. I have two small dogs Yorkie and Shitzu who now have illness. I am a senior and developed back issues that need medical attention. George is up to date on all shots. He needs a loving home to live out rest of his life. I regret that I can no longer handle 5 dogs. I cannot afford the upkeep with my own health and my two little sick dogs. George came from Oklahoma and lived with 10 Yorkies and couple other dogs his owner passed away from long illness. George is very mellow and good natured would make a great companion for senior. George is inside dog and cannot be out in heat or cold. George is spoiled and loves to play with my silky terrier whom I adopted around same time. I am hoping someone will give him a good loving home. ❤️

Story
Located in San Antonio Texas Meet Gerti the Border Terrier! She is our newest addition. She was found running the streets with her Dogo Argentino pal. The family that found them spent weeks trying to find their owners with no success. Gerti was not spayed and did not have a microchip. The good new is, she is now spayed, microchipped, and has had all her vaccines! The bad news is, she is heartworm positive. All though we are all very bummed about this she has a fabulous veterinarian that is taking care of her! She has started Gerti on her heartworm treatment protocol and says there is no reason why she can’t find a new home while she is undergoing treatment! Now we just need to find her that perfect place to call home! If you are interested in Gerti let us know.
