Story
Benny was found running the streets in a stray dog pack in the Rio Grande Valley. When he first came here, he was fearful around men and could be a bully to new dogs, but he's come a long way since then. Once he gets to know you, he's a sweet, funny, playful dog who wants to be with you as much as possible. Benny was initially cat-aggressive, but he's been around cats for several months and has grown used to them. He mostly ignores them but sometimes chases them. He can be around cats, but should not be left alone with them. (I kennel him when we leave.) Benny gets along well with most female dogs, but he can be dominant towards male dogs. He shows some resource guarding of both food and people and seems to want to "defend" his people from other dogs. That doesn't mean he can't get along with other dogs or other male dogs, but he needs to be introduced to other dogs carefully. The same can be true for introducing him to new people---he needs some time to build trust. Someone who is willing to take time and socialize Benny with other people and animals would be a great adopter. Benny is a great dog who really wants to please. He is loving, affectionate, and playful.

Story
Located in San Antonio Texas Meet Gerti the Border Terrier! She is our newest addition. She was found running the streets with her Dogo Argentino pal. The family that found them spent weeks trying to find their owners with no success. Gerti was not spayed and did not have a microchip. The good new is, she is now spayed, microchipped, and has had all her vaccines! The bad news is, she is heartworm positive. All though we are all very bummed about this she has a fabulous veterinarian that is taking care of her! She has started Gerti on her heartworm treatment protocol and says there is no reason why she can’t find a new home while she is undergoing treatment! Now we just need to find her that perfect place to call home! If you are interested in Gerti let us know.

Story
This is George around 11 years per lady that re- homed him, owner passed away. I took George in around 10 months ago. He loves to walk and play ball. George is healthy, at the time I took in 3 dogs to save from shelter. I have two small dogs Yorkie and Shitzu who now have illness. I am a senior and developed back issues that need medical attention. George is up to date on all shots. He needs a loving home to live out rest of his life. I regret that I can no longer handle 5 dogs. I cannot afford the upkeep with my own health and my two little sick dogs. George came from Oklahoma and lived with 10 Yorkies and couple other dogs his owner passed away from long illness. George is very mellow and good natured would make a great companion for senior. George is inside dog and cannot be out in heat or cold. George is spoiled and loves to play with my silky terrier whom I adopted around same time. I am hoping someone will give him a good loving home. ❤️

Story
Quarantine up 5/21 Meet Happy .... and her name couldn’t be more fitting. Happy is a 15-pound bundle of joy, possibly a Pug Terrier mix or Brussels Griffon mix, and we estimate she’s around two years old. She is truly the life of the party! If dogs could apply for jobs, Happy would make the perfect Walmart greeter — she loves everyone she meets and is always full of happiness. This fun-loving girl plays a little rough and tumble, reminding us of a tiny bull in a china shop. Because of her playful energy, she would do best in a home with another dog who enjoys wrestling, romping, and keeping up with her spirited personality. Happy absolutely adores people and has never met a stranger. She was found at the Weslaco shelter in deep South Texas with no collar, no tags, not spayed, not microchipped, and sadly, no one came looking for her. Their loss is truly our gain, because we are beyond grateful to have this sweet, joyful little girl safe with us. Happy is now ready for the loving future she deserves. Happy is located in Hondo, TX and a meet and greet can be scheduled with an approved application. If you’d like to make this sweet dog part of your family, please review our adoption process and complete an application here: https://www.tracyspawsrescue.org/adopt Learn more about our rescue here: https://www.facebook.com/TracysPawsRescue Every dog adopted through Tracy’s Paws receives: • Chagas, heartworm, and tick testing (when age-appropriate) • All core vaccines (age-appropriate) • Heartworm and flea/tick preventatives • Regular Deworming • Spay/neuter surgery • Microchip Breed and age listings are our best guess, based on appearance. Whether you're adopting from us or anywhere in the southern states, please familiarize yourself with Chagas disease. It's endemic in the south. Story
With her beautifully expressive dark eyes and a wonderfully scruffy coat, Annabelle looks like a little plush toy come to life. This ten-month-old sweetheart is brand new to our care and is already proving to be an exceptionally brave, gentle soul. Annabelle is currently navigating a front leg injury that our dedicated veterinary team is working diligently to resolve. Despite her physical discomfort, her resilient spirit shines right through, and she greets every single caretaker with a soft, hopeful gaze and complete trust. Because the bustling energy of a shelter environment makes relaxing difficult, we are searching for a compassionate foster provider who can offer her a quiet, safe indoor sanctuary. This friendly young girl needs a calm, low-activity space where she can strictly rest her body, soak up gentle companionship, and focus entirely on her healing journey. By opening your heart to her temporary care, you will be providing the vital comfort and stability she needs to make a full recovery. Foster this brave, sweet girl today and give her the quiet space she needs to heal.

Good with dogs,
Story
Tonka is a 4 month old Cairn Terrier mix with the perfect blend of scruffy charm and playful energy. With a Blue Heeler dad and a 10 pound Cairn Terrier mix mom, he’s expected to stay on the smaller side but brings a big personality wherever he goes. Tonka and his sibling were found on the side of the road, but you’d never guess it from his happy, loving spirit. He’s curious, smart, and already showing that loyal Heeler side, while still being a cuddly little terrier who loves attention. Tonka enjoys playing, exploring, and then crashing in your lap when he’s worn out. He would do great in a home ready for a fun, affectionate puppy that will grow into a devoted companion. Tonka is being fostered in TX but can be transported after adoption. You can apply directly for Tonka by clicking the Apply for Adoption button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-855 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org.
