Story
Located in San Antonio Texas Meet Gerti the Border Terrier! She is our newest addition. She was found running the streets with her Dogo Argentino pal. The family that found them spent weeks trying to find their owners with no success. Gerti was not spayed and did not have a microchip. The good new is, she is now spayed, microchipped, and has had all her vaccines! The bad news is, she is heartworm positive. All though we are all very bummed about this she has a fabulous veterinarian that is taking care of her! She has started Gerti on her heartworm treatment protocol and says there is no reason why she can’t find a new home while she is undergoing treatment! Now we just need to find her that perfect place to call home! If you are interested in Gerti let us know.

Story
Benny was found running the streets in a stray dog pack in the Rio Grande Valley. When he first came here, he was fearful around men and could be a bully to new dogs, but he's come a long way since then. Once he gets to know you, he's a sweet, funny, playful dog who wants to be with you as much as possible. Benny was initially cat-aggressive, but he's been around cats for several months and has grown used to them. He mostly ignores them but sometimes chases them. He can be around cats, but should not be left alone with them. (I kennel him when we leave.) Benny gets along well with most female dogs, but he can be dominant towards male dogs. He shows some resource guarding of both food and people and seems to want to "defend" his people from other dogs. That doesn't mean he can't get along with other dogs or other male dogs, but he needs to be introduced to other dogs carefully. The same can be true for introducing him to new people---he needs some time to build trust. Someone who is willing to take time and socialize Benny with other people and animals would be a great adopter. Benny is a great dog who really wants to please. He is loving, affectionate, and playful.

Story
Quarantine up 5/21 Meet Happy .... and her name couldn’t be more fitting. Happy is a 15-pound bundle of joy, possibly a Pug Terrier mix or Brussels Griffon mix, and we estimate she’s around two years old. She is truly the life of the party! If dogs could apply for jobs, Happy would make the perfect Walmart greeter — she loves everyone she meets and is always full of happiness. This fun-loving girl plays a little rough and tumble, reminding us of a tiny bull in a china shop. Because of her playful energy, she would do best in a home with another dog who enjoys wrestling, romping, and keeping up with her spirited personality. Happy absolutely adores people and has never met a stranger. She was found at the Weslaco shelter in deep South Texas with no collar, no tags, not spayed, not microchipped, and sadly, no one came looking for her. Their loss is truly our gain, because we are beyond grateful to have this sweet, joyful little girl safe with us. Happy is now ready for the loving future she deserves. Happy is located in Hondo, TX and a meet and greet can be scheduled with an approved application. If you’d like to make this sweet dog part of your family, please review our adoption process and complete an application here: https://www.tracyspawsrescue.org/adopt Learn more about our rescue here: https://www.facebook.com/TracysPawsRescue Every dog adopted through Tracy’s Paws receives: • Chagas, heartworm, and tick testing (when age-appropriate) • All core vaccines (age-appropriate) • Heartworm and flea/tick preventatives • Regular Deworming • Spay/neuter surgery • Microchip Breed and age listings are our best guess, based on appearance. Whether you're adopting from us or anywhere in the southern states, please familiarize yourself with Chagas disease. It's endemic in the south. Story
Meet Tonka! Tonka is a 4-month-old Cairn Terrier/Blue Heeler mix weighing just 11 pounds, and he is packed full of personality, affection, and charm. This sweet boy loves nothing more than being close to his people. Whether he’s curled up in your lap, soaking up belly rubs, or following you from room to room, Tonka is happiest when he’s spending time with his family. Tonka is a very social puppy who enjoys meeting new people and taking part in everyday activities. His friendly, confident nature makes him an excellent candidate for public outings, whether that means visiting a pet-friendly store, enjoying an outdoor café, or joining you on family adventures. He loves attention and is always eager to make new friends. Like any young puppy, Tonka enjoys playtime and would especially love a canine companion around his size to romp and wrestle with. He has an energetic, playful side but also knows how to settle down and enjoy quiet cuddle time with his favorite humans. Tonka is already off to a great start with his training. He knows the command “sit” and is both kennel trained and potty trained. His eagerness to please and affectionate nature will make continued training enjoyable and rewarding. Tonka is currently being fostered in a loving home in Seguin, Texas. While he resides in Texas, he can be transported out of state to the right forever family after adoption. If you're looking for a loyal, loving, and social companion who will fill your days with smiles, Tonka may be the perfect match for you! You can apply directly for Tonka by clicking the Apply for Adoption button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-855 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
Hooch came to us from a shelter. Hooch patted my husband on the shoulder as he walked by and it was love at first sight for them. He loves to go for walks and to meet new people and dog friends to play with. He has a calm nature. The only time he gets overly excited is when there is loud thunder or fireworks going on. You have to hold on tight during those walks because he is strong and likes to investigate so he will pull you around if you let him. He has always gotten along well with other dogs and children. He wants to be friends with everyone. He's about 7 years old and settled, never a bit of trouble. He used to shake, roll over, and sit on his haunches usually to let you know he is either hungry or wants out. He will even sleep at the foot of your bed if you allow him to!
