Meet Jewel, a sweet older girl with the most beautiful eyes and an even sweeter heart. Jewel is a quiet, gentle lap dog who would happily spend all day curled up on her person’s lap or tucked beneath a cozy blanket. When her people come home, she gets incredibly excited, jumping right into their laps and giving kisses if invited. She loves her people deeply, follows them from room to room, and has formed strong bonds with both adults in her foster home. She’s easy to love and has all the makings of a wonderful companion for someone who is home often.
Jewel arrived very timid and meek, and although she has gained confidence with time, she can still be easily frightened. She feels safest when her people are nearby and prefers a calm, peaceful environment. She enjoys short strolls with her humans, although she is still learning leash manners and may cross in front of you or wind around your feet. She doesn’t pull much, though! Jewel is house-trained, uses a pet door, comes when called, and sleeps comfortably in her kennel. She may bark when visitors first arrive, but she settles down quickly and is happy to welcome everyone.
Jewel is a picky eater who prefers soft food, especially beef, and likes having her people close while she eats. She has an adorable habit of rooting around before meals and will even check the vehicles outside if her favorite person leaves, just in case she might be there. Jewel has been around dogs, cats, and children and does okay with them, but she would truly prefer to be the only pet and have all the attention to herself. She isn’t much of a player these days—she’s much more interested in short walks, long naps, cozy blankets, and being close to her person. Jewel will thrive in a quiet, loving home where she can feel safe, cherished, and included in everyday life. For someone looking for a devoted little shadow and a constant cuddle companion, Jewel may be the perfect match.
