Boston Terrier Cupcake’s Story
This dog will make a lovely companion for the right person who understands the breed. Known as the “Velcro dog” he is very loyal and prefers to seldom leave your side. He does not like to be left alone or out of view of people in the house but prefers to be involved in or at least near all household activities. If you travel frequently or work long hours away from home, he is not the dog for you. If you are looking for an outdoor dog do not adopt Cupcake and a Boston Terrier is probably not a good fit for you. He cannot live outside and hates to be alone for longer than a few hours at a time.
He is approximately 3 years old and was found wandering around in our neighborhood all day in 98-degree weather. From his appearance he either was very poorly taken care of or he had been wandering elsewhere for several days.
He was very underweight (you could clearly see his rib cage) and severely dehydrated. That said, he was so sweet and friendly to both me and my mom as well as our two 100-pound dogs we were walking. He followed us home and we began to take care of him.
He rides nicely in a car and he walks well on a leash. He insists on running up to EVERYONE we walk past to greet and say hello to. When I walk him off leash with my other 2 dogs, he stays nice and close but if he does wander a little, I simply call his name and he comes charging excitedly back to me. We are working on sit, wait, gentle and other commands and he is coming along very well with the training. When in his kennel for more than a few hours he will start whining and if he doesn’t get let out, he does a very loud pitiful cry. He also does that if he is not allowed to go out of the house with me. I feel like this has gotten better since we first found him, but please understand he has anxiety and fear of being deserted again due to his early life. He is such a loving, gentle, fun, silly and very playful dog that I know he will be a terrific addition to your family. He is great with the cats that we are fostering. They all are often loose together in the same room. He has all the looks and personality of a Boston Terrier and if you have had one before you are a great candidate and will love our sweet Cupcake.
His adoption fee is $350; his adoption will be finalized once he is neutered. His vaccines are up to date, he is microchipped, and he uses a doggie door. Breed experience is preferred.
