Story
We are excited to introduce you to the ever so handsome Blue Jay Bird! Blue Jay known in his foster home as BJ, is a boston terrier puppy born approximately on 12/17/2023 who is paralyzed in his rear legs since birth.     He is a ham . He is Mr. personality and loves to be around other animals and humans.   He is not incontinent. but has to wear diapers so he doesn't dribble peepee on his legs as he moves due to the pressure on his stomach. But most importantly he wears them to keep his tush safe from friction burns and wounds . He came to us with wounds on his bum, tail, back of his legs and feet. The back of his legs and tush were completely bald due to constant friction. His hair is now growing in as his wounds have healed due to wearing diapers to protect his skin. He needs to be on carpeted surfaces to help his ability to maneuver around in his own way.   He takes baths daily and loves them . he gets his bath a bit before bedtime where he sleeps without a diaper (we call this his naked time). He sleeps great through the night in his x pen where he has a soft bed, toys, a rug underneath, and his water. He does great in a sling where he can be carried around and he will watch the world and enjoys being in the conversation.   He gets the post dinner crazies and wants to play play play. At times he thinks he is in WWE and the star of Monday night raw and it is his responsibility to defeat the Undertaker .   He loves toys and fun things to chew on line bully sticks and bento balls. He has not had all of his puppy shots yet but has been neutered. He travels fine in the car with a bully stick to keep him entertained.   This guy is looking for a family (or person) who works from home, is retired, doesn't have to work, or can take him to work with them. If none of those apply then a babysitter when you will be gone for long hours. He does great in an office setting and stays on his dog bed and rug in the office.   He is being fostered in Sacramento California which is where he will be available to meet potential adopters. If you are interested in meeting and adopting this amazing fella, fill out an application at www.beourpet.org/adoptions.php please be as detailed as possible and let us know why you would be an ideal home for this sweet guy. He requires special attention and care to ensure he is safe, so let us know how you can provide that in your home.   If you are unable to adopt but want to help sweet BJ find the perfect home, please ***SHARE HIS STORY*** GENERAL INFO:   Housebroken?: Special needs, needs diapes Crate Trained?: Yes Leash Trained?: Not yet Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: No Good with cats?: Yes Good with dogs?: Yes Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: No adoption fee for appropriate home Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. Story
Meeko, a confident Boston Terrier of excruciating cuteness, has an announcement: Just because a dog can't see very well doesn't mean they can't have opinions, play hide and seek, go on long walks, climb stairs, hang out with kids or be house trained. In fact, adds Meeko, who is the dog of whom she speaks, they can also sing, roll, goof around, and hunt down pets and scritches, often all at the same time. Footnote: Meeko says she is slim, fit and friendly but draws the line at taking out the garbage. Fair! Here's some notes from her foster: Meeko is a wonderful little gal. She sure doesn't act her age. She is very agile and loves to go on a fast pace walk. She can do stairs and even can jump up into the couch. She plays with toys and loves a Kong stuffed with cream cheese for a snack. She is a great eater and will sit when asked. She has been great with my 2-1/2 yr old granddaughter and is fantastic with other dogs. She will be a wonderful addition to a family that will give her the forever home she deserves.

Story
WEIGHT: ~17LBS.Here's Lana! Has her sights set on a forever home, just hasn't quite focused in on THE ONE. She has been living in a foster home. Here is what her foster has to say about her:"She is the sweetest little doggy, full of life and energy and curiosity. She seems overall very well behaved, eager to please and easily accepted a routine. She is a little insecure, but I think in the right "forever home" she would be a wonderful addition. As for behavior with strangers and other dogs, she seems fine. I walk her at least twice a day and she has never barked at any dog; she has approached neighbors and friends calmly, with normal tail position. The only thing she did once, when my brother appeared at the back door was that jumping up and down like a jumping bean and barking. I made her sit and calm down, and then my brother came in the house. After that she never did that again when he came in the back door."Because she's in foster, she's not able to be viewed during Browsing Hours. So, let us know you'd like to learn more by filling out and Adopter's Profile!

Story
French Fry is a bit of a diva; she likes to be the center of attention and claim her person for herself! When in a calm household, she is a good girl and a nice companion. She sleeps well in a crate or a dog bed and is completely housebroken. French Fry loves to chew, so she'll be thrilled if her new family has plenty of yummy snacks on hand for her. She has puppy energy and loves to follow her person everywhere they go, before flopping down next to them to relax. She weighs 22.8 pounds and is estimated to be between 1 and 4 years old.French Fry was diagnosed with intervertebral disc disease at T12-13 and possibly 11-12 and L1-2. This is a condition where disk material presses against the ligament and the spinal cord. Symptoms can include back pain, ataxia and paraplegia. She is currently on an anti inflammatory and gabapentin which are controlling her symptoms well. She will need to be on these medications ongoing. There is a possibility that symptoms can worsen and surgery may need to be pursued.Have you fallen in love? Ready to adopt? Story
Frank was transferred to Valley Humane on 4/19 from the East County Animal Shelter after being abandoned. Frank is an adult dog (estimated to be between 4 and 7 years old) and weighs 14.5 pounds.Frank has a shrunken left eye. This could be secondary to an injury or severe infection. He appears comfortable with no obvious discharge or redness. If this changes or is painful an exam should be scheduled with a veterinarian. Frank is missing a right testicle. An exploratory was done to look for the right testicle but it was unable to be found. A testosterone level can be checked in 1 month at VHS.Do you have questions about this animal or are you ready to take the next step to adoption?
