This boy has a sparkly personality and loves cats and kids and has a long list of his favorite things.....Please apply at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.    Dexter is the most amazing, 4-5 year old, chonky Boxer mix with a nubby tail. He's friendly, happy and can no longer stay in his home due to quarrels with another dog. They tried professional training to no avail. We are seeking a household where Dexter will be the only dog living there, although he can be friendly with other dogs. He seems to prefer to have his family all to himself on an ongoing basis.   Dexter is house trained and crate trained. He doesn't love being in a crate, but does tolerate it. If left out for long periods, he will have occasional accidents, but is not destructive. Dexter would preferably have a physically fenced yard. He does walk nicely on leash.   Dexter's list of loves: Cuddling and being right next to his people (especially on their bed in night). Favorite toy; the Otter. Raccoon is a close second. He loves to watch Scooby Doo when left alone. Greenies specifically the blueberry flavored ones. Dexter lives for belly rubs and likes to show his people things around the house by gently taking their hand and leading them. Warm jackets and harnesses during a walk (but they must come off once back in the house.)   Dexter is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He will also come with many of his things including his toys, bed, bowls, leash, collar, and harness. If interested in Dexter, his adoption fee is $100. Meet Rigby!! Rigby is just over 5 years old and weighs about 40#. He is a Boxer/Pitbull Terrier mix.   Rigby is one of the sweetest souls! He came to us as an abandoned stray, in pretty rough shape. Rigby has been nothing but a friendly and loving guy in his time here with us! He can stand to gain some more weight, as he came in to us very visibly underweight. Rigby has put on several pounds while in our care, but can stand to gain a bit more to get him where he should be.   We expect that he will do fine with kids as his demeanor is calm and loving. We haven't introduced him to cats or other dogs yet but can upon request.  Rigby loves to go for walks and loves to play with a ball! He sits and shakes as well!   He did test positive for Lyme Disease, and has started his month long Doxycycline treatment here with us. Rigby will need kept on monthly Flea/Tick Prevention and should receive a yearly Lyme Vaccine as well. He is not contagious! Lyme Disease is transmitted from an infected tick directly to the dog.    He is neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm negative and on monthly preventive. Peter Pan came in scared of everything & it was like he lived on another planet. He had never been on a leash, interacted with people, or been loved by another human. Great news is that he is learning & he loves other dogs. We think it would be best that he was adopted or fostered by someone without kids for now & someone with other dogs. He does great with males or females. He also is very treat motivated & that will definitely help him learn.
