Story
Meet Jack! The cutest, three-year-old, 78-pound Boxer and Pointer mix! This sweetheart was originally rescued from an unfortunate situation where he was treated poorly. He was taken in for two years by a very friendly family with children and lots of other dog friends. They can no longer care for Jack, so this amazing boy is ready to make a new family very lucky!Jack loves all people, especially children, and gets along well with other dogs. He can be a little bit afraid of very dominant dogs, but just needs time to grow comfortable. Jack is fully potty trained, kennel trained, and knows all of his basic commands. He`s a playful guy who loves all sorts of toys, and has a silly habit of carrying his food dish around. Jack is a certified snuggler who loves his people so much. He`ll make for a loyal and loving companion.Jack is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. You can visit him at the shelter Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or Sundays from 12:00 to 5:00 PM.

Story
Introducing the wonderful Guido! This guy is a 5-year-old, 51-pound Boxer mix. Guido was found abandoned in a foreclosed home alongside some cat friends. Despite his owners never coming forward, he has remained nothing but loving and playful like a puppy. He happily followed his rescuers out of the house and is ready for a fresh start.Guido finds incredible joy in squeaky toys, though we`re pretty sure the most important thing in his life is finding a partner for a game of tug-of-war. He`s a trained expert at the game who never tires. This energetic boy loves to romp around outside and is already fully potty trained. He sits nicely for treats and, having lived with feline friends before, could be a great friend for your cat!Guido is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. You can visit him at the shelter Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or Sundays from 12:00 to 5:00 PM.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Cider is a loving and intelligent 3-month-old Boxer mix who adores being cuddled and staying close to her people. She’s a bright, affectionate puppy who learns quickly—so quickly, in fact, that she mastered the doggy door in just one day. Cider would make a wonderful companion for an individual or a family, thanks to her sweet temperament and eagerness to bond. Like most puppies her age, she’s going through a teething phase and loves to chew, but with gentle correction and guidance she’s already learning what’s allowed and what’s not. With her affectionate nature, sharp mind, and cuddly personality, Cider is sure to grow into an amazing, loyal family dog. Whoever adopts her will be gaining a smart, loving best friend. Cider  is from Texas.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.* If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 9, 2026, 8:35 am
