Story
Lucy is just the cutest white boxer mix. Most of us mistake her for a puppy with her youthful looks but we think she’s about 5 years old. She enjoys her time in the play yard and sniffaris on a walk. She knows ‘sit’ and takes treats gently. She’s ready to blossom in a forever home that showers her with patience and love! Lucy has done well with male dogs but not so well with females and small dogs.

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Teeka, a 1 year 7 month old spayed female, Boxer mix, 42lbs. She is in a foster home in Houston, TX and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! The amazing Teeka is on the hunt for her forever home. She specializes in best friending with an emphasis on playing! She currently lives with several larger dogs and is learning to respect their boundaries. She LOVES to play with them, but does need some help realizing when her foster siblings are ready to stop. She has not met any cats, so we’re not sure how she’d react to a feline sibling. Her foster mom says she’s done well meeting new human friends and is learning not to jump on them. Because of this and her high energy levels, we do recommend a home with older dog savvy kids. This smartie is house and crate trained! She sleeps quietly in her crate and is kenneled whenever her foster family is out of the house. We don’t recommend leaving her out unsupervised as she may help herself to whatever she finds in the kitchen. Teeka’s love for food is next level and she will try to sneak a bite from you or the other dog’s bowls, but has shown no signs of resource guarding. She is still working on her leash manners, but is getting better every day! She gets a little too excited when she sees other dogs, but is learning to calm down and continue on her walk. This happy girl absolutely loves toys! She knows where the toy basket is and will get one so you can join in the fun. She’s a huge fan of fetch and tug of war! Teeka is learning the joys of relaxing too. She loves to lay on your legs and get some pets and give some kisses. She’s happy just to be near her humans. Teeka is a young pup with boundless energy that will thrive in a home with a yard, daily exercise, training and patience. She’s a goofy, happy, loving girl and with just one look into those pretty doe eyes, your heart will melt! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her? Story
Nickname: D Rock Meet Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson... but don't worry, he's currently accepting applications for a brand-new last name! This handsome, muscular guy may look like he belongs in the spotlight, but beneath those good looks is a big softie who would much rather be cuddling with his favorite people than starring in an action movie. Dwayne came to us as an unclaimed stray and is ready to leave that chapter behind for a forever home. He can be a little nervous when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and soon shows off his playful, affectionate personality. He's done well with other dogs, loves to play, and is happiest spending time with his people. Because he's still building his confidence and due to his size, he'd likely do best in a home with dog-savvy kids age 10 and up. So, if you're wondering, "Can you smell what Dwayne is cooking?"—it's unconditional love! This sweet boy is ready to rock your world, become the champion of your heart, and finally find the family that will give him the happily ever after.

Story
Karl Barks (77 lbs) is a silly sweetheart with expressive eyes and ears, especially when you’re on his list of friends! A young pup of two years, he’s already acquired a great starting handful of tricks that he’d be happy to show off, perhaps, in exchange for some cheese? He likes to take his time getting acquainted with new people, but once he’s settled in, you’re cordially invited to offer some healthy scritches and pets! We’re still getting familiar with his other preferences, though, so we’re not sure how he’d feel about other animals in his next home. We’ll provide the cheese if you’re interested in providing the time to hang out with this handsome laddie! Why not drop in to say hello during our walk-in hours Wed – Sundays, from noon until 4:30pm (6:30pm Thursdays)? You can also reach our adoptions team:by email: adoptions@spcaonline.comby phone (during open hours): 607-257-1822 x221(Adoption Category: Lilac)
