Story
UPDATE: Maia was pregnant when we was attacked and had 6 puppies on June 23rd.  Two of her surviving puppies, Ziva & Zinnia, are ready for adoption and we need to find a nice furever home for Maia as well.  She is very sweet with people including children.  Maia is blind but navigates familiar spaces smoothly.  She loves to lay in the grass while her foster mom works in the garden.  Maia can be an only dog or possibly go with a calm male dog. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's a Maia update since she was attacked last week. First, we thank you for all the generous donations we received on behalf of Maia! We asked & boxer lovers answered! She's doing really well. In fact, she’s healing SO well, she'll be cleared for transport this weekend!  She's taking antibiotics, pain meds & having her wounds cleaned.  We'd love to have a foster/adopter to welcome this sweet girl when she arrives in the Northeast this weekend.  She deserves love & comfort after this trauma. Since we've had Maia, we learned she is heartworm positive. We started her treatment plan which is paid for by your generosity.  She is also visually impaired. She walks well outside on leash but inside bumps into walls and doors.  It's also possible she's never been inside a house.  When dogs bark, she freezes but with encouragement from her foster she remains calm.   Please continue helping us with Maia! If you can provide a safe place for her arrival, please contact your coordinator or apply here: https://www.chelseashopeboxerrescue.com/adoption-application/April 24, 2024, 8:28 am

UPDATE: Felicity has arrived in her foster home and although she's a bit confused by all the new activity she is friendly and goes with the flow.  She had a bath, went shopping for a coat because it's cold in the Northeast and enjoyed some naps in a cozy bed. *********************************** Found roaming by a busy highway w her two siblings Felicity was saved from a life on the streets.  She is a sweet and friendly girl! She would make a great companion to a male dog or do fine as an only. She has been learning how great a life full of safety and love can be!April 24, 2024, 8:28 am

Story
Meet our Christmas miracle Rose, who was saved by her own Christmas miracles while sedated on the euthanasia table. Those miracles - her newborn pups! Rose was surrendered to a high kill shelter by a family who simply didn’t want her any longer. Forgotten and unclaimed, she was marked for euthanasia. In her most dire moment, already on the table with catheters placed and sedatives administered, ready to be euthanized, an unexpected miracle occurred. As Rose lay there, teetering on the brink of the end, she went into labor. This incredible turn of events halted the procedure, and her life, along with her unborn puppies, was spared in those critical moments. We contacted by the shelter and they wanted Rose and her puppies out immediately, even more heartbreaking was that she still had the needles in her veins when they dragged her out to our volunteers car. Now, Rose and her puppies are safe under our care, but this is where the hard work begins. We urgently need your help to provide Rose and her newborn puppies with the care and nurturing they desperately require. Every donation will contribute to: Essential veterinary care and monitoring for Rose and her puppies. Nutritious food and supplements for their recovery, and a safe and comfortable environment for their rehabilitation. We humbly ask you to consider making a donation, or simply spread the word about the great work CHBR is doing. Your generosity ensures that Rose, and many others like her, get every chance they deserve. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for always standing by us! UPDATE: Rocco loves to run and play with other dogs and is enjoying life in a foster home.  He loves all people, including every single stranger that will say "hi" to him.  In foster he is great with a 3YO and 5YO child as well as foster fur siblings.  He is a great passenger in the car and unphased by livestock.  He would love to show you his wiggles!  ***************************************************** This is Rocco.  He's 3.5 years old and lost his home when his parents had a human baby.  He always has lived outside and is still outside waiting patiently for a new family.  We need a foster or adopter to love and accept him immediately!     Rocco is neutered, vaccinated & great with other dogs.  He does not like cats.  Rocco is also friendly with children but he's big boy and boisterous.  He longs to be part of a family again and we know he'll love life indoors as well.   Can you help us reward this handsome boy the life he so deserves? https://www.chelseashopeboxerrescue.com/April 24, 2024, 8:28 am

Story
Please meet Brutus! He is a sweet boy with vision impairment. He is nearly to totally blind , but he doesn't let that hold him back! He is still a happy guy that quickly becomes familiar with a new environment . Once he adjusts and learns to navigate his new space there is no stopping him! He does like other dogs , but can become confused if the other dog is very vocal or too enthusiastic as he can't tell which direction they are coming from. He would be fine as an only pet or with a low key female that won't try to wrestle with him all the time and can read his social cues. The only sad part about Brutus' disability is that he will never be able to see how stunningly handsome he is! So you will have to tell him at least once per day !April 24, 2024, 8:28 am

Story
Update 2:  Valentina was discovered with a pack of stray/abandoned dogs nursing 9 puppies in January. We sprung into action to bring Valentina and her little ones to safety before an approaching deep freeze. Unfortunately they fell ill with parvo and required immediate medical intervention. Eight of the 9 puppies survived, are growing strong and receiving vaccines. 2 males are available for adoption in mid March. Valentina is their mom and a black shepherd is the father. Age: 12 weeks Weight: 10lbs Dogs: Yes Cats: Yes Kids: Yes  ***************************************************** Update 1 : 8 puppies are currently at a local vet receiving care due to the lack of transportation to the parvo center. We will allow the vet to make the decision on whether or not he believes they need further care or if he believes we have caught it soon enough to treat them here. The first pup who broke with parvo and went to Pet Dr 911 yesterday did not make it through the night. Parvo Emergency You guys may remember this mom and litter of 9 who came from Sullivan City. Unfortunately they contracted parvo. We now have 24 hours to get them to the parvo center and raise (ESTIMATED) $5229 to give them the best chance at survival. $379 pet 911 bill for the first pup to break with parvo (estimated) $500 PER DOG for their treatment at a parvo center April 24, 2024, 8:28 am

Story
Petey is a gigantic goof who does not know he's almost 90 pounds! This handsome hunk is as silly as they come and has plenty of energy for any outdoor activity. But of course, Petey contains multitudes... at home, he's a total couch potato and loves the calm and quiet pace that only a home can provide. Petey loves to play fetch and willingly shares his toys during playtime! He takes treats very softly and enjoys belly rubs. Petey loves every adult he meets when he's out and about but needs to live in an adult-only home! According to Petey, cats make great toys... so for the sake of cats everywhere, we're putting a stop to that, too. To recap: Tons (90 pounds) of fun? CHECK Goof with no idea he's 90 pounds? CHECK Rude around kids? CHECK Kind of a jerk to cats? CHECK Not interested in sharing a home with other dogs? CHECK Missed the puppy school class titled "Sharing Is Caring"? CHECK Great couch warmer? We dare you to keep a straight face when you meet Trevor! He's so sweet and silly, that we're pretty sure it's impossible not to smile when he's around. He's sweet as pie, goofy as heck, and eager to play in the grass and then crawl into your lap. Trevor looooves other dogs and is super tolerant of exuberant play styles but also respectful of the more mellow players. Trevor is an energetic babe who would do best in an active household! He does well with people and pups of all shapes and sizes and will make a delightful addition to all sorts of homes. **Please Note** Our pet listings update automatically every 4 hours, so they are as current as possible. Story
Cali enjoys spending time with humans, but not other canine companions. She would need to be the only dog in her new home. She is also very strong on the leash while walking but does take correction. With some basic training we believe she'd be a really good dog for a couple or single person. Cali will be UTD on vaccines, spayed and will be microchipped prior to going home.

Story
Zeke is a rescue dog we got as a pup. He isn't used to being around a lot of people. It is just me and my husband so he will bark when someone does and then calms down. He is an excellent watchdog. He is used to sunningaroud on our huge lawn without leash. He always cones back. He loves his huge crate inside out house and often prefer the crate and watches out the windows from it. Zeke is Bulloxer. Very handsome. He would thrive in a house two adults and with a nice size property. He would love a lot of attention as he wants to please. Due to health issues, we have to move to a sister living. You would fall in love with Zeke. He is a loner but would get acclimated quickly. Needs energetic person who can devote the time he deserves. I feel terrible about having to rehome him but I have no choice. Need areal kind hearted person to welcome him. He is 4 years old now.

Story
Hero came to PCHS as a local stray unclaimed. He was traveling with another dog, that was hit and killed by a car. Hero is a very active dog, adjusting well to having daily care and TLC. He is housebroken, but will need additional leash walking training. Hero is food motivated. He would benefit with an active home and lifestyle with reassurance. Hero loves to splash around in water! If you have another dog, meet and greet is required. We believe Hero will be a loyal companion.

Story
Tempest was found recently as a stray in "ruff" shape.  She was never claimed and that's the best thing for her.  Tempest is very underweight, covered in fleas, her eyes are painful with "cherry eye" and discharge.  We are feeding her puppy food to get a few pounds on her so she can undergo anesthesia to be spayed and have her painful eyes fixed. So far in foster she's fearful of other dogs and would likely enjoy a quiet home as an only dog. It's obvious she has been through already in her life.  Apply to foster or adopt Tempest on our website: https://chboxerrescue.com/adopt/  April 24, 2024, 8:28 am
