🧺✨ THE JUNK DRAWER LITTER HAS ENTERED THE CHAT ✨🧺 (Please do not ask us why they’re named this. It just felt right.) These six super-duper-wrinkly pit mix babies came to us from our rural shelter partner after being found as strays with no mama anywhere to be found. No siblings’ backstory, no explanation, just a box of tiny potatoes who clearly needed help—and fast. They spent several weeks in foster with the shelter growing, wiggling, and perfecting their signature wrinkles until they were finally old enough to move along. But as much as the shelter staff loved them, we all know the truth: the shelter is no place for tiny babies whose biggest concern is whether their sibling is touching them. So naturally… 🧺 we scooped them up immediately 🧺 ✨ zero hesitation ✨ 🚗 straight to foster homes 🚗 Now they’re safe, warm, snuggled up, and thriving—just like the random assortment of items living peacefully in your junk drawer. Two members of the Junk Drawer Crew do have eye conditions that will be addressed with our veterinarian. They’re being monitored closely, are comfortable, and are receiving all the medical care they need (plus approximately one million kisses). The rest of the crew, however, is officially available for adoption and ready to bring clutter, chaos, and unconditional love into your life. They are: 📎 Not organized 🔋 Slightly confusing 🧂 Absolutely unnecessary 💥 Completely irresistible Much like: A spare USB cord A single chopstick A key that opens nothing A rubber band from 2009 They may not fix anything in your house… …but they will fix your heart. So if you’ve ever opened your junk drawer and thought, “Wow, this is a mess, but I love it,” congratulations—you might be ready for one of these puppies. 🧺 The Junk Drawer Litter: No purpose. All vibes. 100% adoptable. 🐶💙

Story
Meet Olaf ☃️🐾 — and yes, he really is that special. Olaf is guessed to be around a year old, and quite honestly, he may be one of the most incredible dogs you will ever meet. When I first met Olaf, he was sitting in a shelter after being found as a stray in a very rural part of South Carolina—the kind of shelter with limited resources, endless need, and far too many amazing dogs waiting far too long. Olaf had been there since before Christmas, week after week, with zero interest. No applications. No rescue holds. Just a goofy, hopeful boy waiting quietly for his turn. We think Olaf is some sort of Lab–Pitty–Dane mix, and honestly… he looks exactly like that sounds. He’s got a big, blocky head, but he’s tall and lanky—think awkward teenage boy who hasn’t grown into his body yet. And somehow, that just makes him even more perfect. As dangerous weather approached, we were praying we could finally get this boy out—and thanks to some truly incredible fosters, that prayer was answered. Olaf busted out of the shelter and stepped into a foster home, and from the moment he did, he has been nothing short of amazing. Olaf is pure joy in dog form. He’s missing a few brain cells (affectionately), and it shows in the best possible way. Other dogs could literally knock him over, and he’d just sit there wagging his tail, looking happy, confused, and absolutely doofy. He is phenomenal with other dogs, amazing with kids, wonderful with people, and just an all-around gentle, loving soul. Olaf is the kind of dog you don’t come across often—the once-in-a-lifetime dog that leaves a mark on everyone who meets him. The kind of dog who makes you laugh daily, love deeply, and wonder how he ever got overlooked in the first place. Now Olaf is safe, loved, and ready for the one thing he’s been waiting for all along: his forever family. And whoever that is? They are about to be very, very lucky. 🤍✨

Meet Lucky 🍀 — the dog who truly lives up to his name. Lucky is a 3½-year-old pitty/bulldog mix who came to us from one of our rural shelter partners after being surrendered by his owners for reasons we’ll likely never know. He arrived confused, overwhelmed, and unsure of what he had done wrong — a story we sadly see far too often. Lucky was surrendered alongside a small chihuahua named Peanut, and at first we believed the two were bonded. But once in our care, we quickly realized the dynamic wasn’t fair to Lucky at all. Peanut was beating him up, and Lucky… just took it. He never reacted, never fought back — he would simply sit there and endure it. Needless to say, they were separated, and Peanut has since gone on to find her forever home. That separation gave Lucky the chance to finally be himself. When Lucky first arrived, he struggled with leash reactivity and becoming overstimulated by the world around him. New environments, other dogs, and too much activity at once were simply overwhelming. Instead of writing him off, we leaned in — and with the help of our incredible professional trainers, Lucky was enrolled in a three-week board and train program. During that time, he learned how to regulate his emotions, channel his excitement appropriately, and gain confidence in a way that set him up for long-term success. The change in Lucky has been nothing short of amazing. He now walks beautifully on leash, is no longer reactive to other dogs, and approaches the world with a calm, happy confidence. He can do well with other dogs and enjoys their company, but would need a proper introduction to set everyone up for success — something we’re always happy to help with. Beyond the training, Lucky is truly something special. He is hands-down one of the snuggliest, happiest, most affectionate dogs you will ever meet. He loves people with his whole heart, soaks up attention, and radiates gratitude in every interaction. Lucky is trained using an e-collar and responds incredibly well to it, and as an added bonus, his training comes with free lifetime follow-up sessions — meaning adopters will have continued support for years to come. Lucky has done everything we’ve asked of him. He’s learned, he’s grown, he’s healed, and he’s ready to give his whole heart to someone who will never give up on him again. Now all he needs is the one thing he’s been waiting for: a forever home of his own. 🍀💛

Meet Cindy 🐾✨ ~ approximately 2.5 years old | bully breed mix | certified gentle soul ~ When we first met Cindy in the shelter, she was trembling in the corner, completely shut down by fear. She was so terrified that she had to be gently carried out — not because she was aggressive, but because she was overwhelmed and didn’t know what was happening to her. It broke our hearts. But once Cindy felt safety… she showed us who she truly is. Cindy is quite possibly one of the sweetest dogs we’ve ever helped. She is the definition of a nanny dog — soft, loving, and endlessly kind. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body and is honestly scared of her own shadow. Cindy finds comfort in her doggy friends, adores children, and was an incredible mama to her puppies. She loved them fiercely and gave them everything she had… and now, all of her babies have found their forever homes. 💕 Now it’s Cindy’s turn. This gentle girl is beyond ready for a fresh start — a quiet home, a cozy bed, and a family who will spoil her like the princess she truly is. Cindy is heartworm positive and currently undergoing treatment with our vet. Heartworm is not contagious to other dogs, and her treatment simply requires her to take it easy — which suits her perfectly, because she’s a calm, easygoing, go-with-the-flow kind of gal. Cindy has known fear. She’s known uncertainty. But what she deserves now is love, safety, and a lifetime of kindness. If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle, soulful companion who will love you with her whole heart… Cindy is waiting. 🥹💕 📩 Apply to foster or adopt and give this deserving mama the happy ending she’s waited so patiently for.

Story
Meet Councilman Jamm (CJ) ♥️🐾 CJ is quite literally the sweetest man in town. Many of you will remember him—he was with us for quite a while before finally finding his home. Sadly, CJ is being returned through no fault of his own. He struggles with thunderstorms and his family realized they weren’t the right fit to help him work through those fears. CJ’s story is a hard one to swallow. He originally came to the shelter after being saved from a hoarding/neglect case where 36 dogs were rescued from unthinkable conditions. Because of the ongoing court case, CJ had to remain at the shelter for several weeks. During that time, he put on much-needed weight and finally received the medical care he had been lacking his entire life. Many of you may remember seeing him on our stories—shaking and vibrating in his kennel from sheer fear of simply existing there. When he was finally released, we were able to pull this sweet land hippo to safety, and we promised him that his best days were still ahead. Despite all he’s been through, CJ holds nothing of his past against him. He can be a little nervous in new settings, but once he feels safe, his whole personality shines—his tail starts wagging, and he begs for pets with the sweetest smile. CJ is wonderful with other dogs, loves kids, and is the biggest cuddle bug you’ll ever meet. While he may need some patience and understanding in stormy weather, he is otherwise the perfect gentleman—gentle, loyal, and full of love to give. CJ is fully vetted and ready once again to find his true forever family. Could it be you?!♥️🥰 Apply foster or adopt at: https://dustytailsanimalrescue.org/...

Story
Meet Posey 🥔🦛✨ (probably not a bulldog mix… more like a gargoyle–hippo–potato hybrid) Posey is technically a 3-year-old bulldog mix, but if we’re being honest, she is likely a rare mythical creature. Gargoyle. Potato. Hippo. Bowling ball with legs. Lord knows what. She answers to many nicknames—one of her personal favorites being Hot Wheels, for reasons that become immediately clear the second she starts moving. Posey is THICK. She is roughly 30 pounds of pure sass, attitude, and compact chaos. This girl is so round we genuinely don’t think she could gain another ounce if she tried—she’d simply pop. Think Veruca/Veronica from Willy Wonka after turning into a blueberry… but louder, funnier, and way more confident. She even has a little butt dimple, because her fat pads are just that impressive. Posey does what Posey wants. She is Miss Princess. She will confidently insert herself into any situation or dog group and immediately make it known that she is, in fact, the queen bee. While she does great with other dogs, her true love is her people. Once you’re hers, you’re done. She will Velcro herself to you, follow you everywhere, and become your personal shadow—no privacy, no exceptions. She is crate trained and does great in it, though the noises that come out of her sound less like a dog and more like a velociraptor having a disagreement with a T-rex. Truly impressive stuff. At our recent training event, Posey perfectly demonstrated her lifestyle: zoomies → itchies (aggressively rubbing herself into the grass) → immediate exhaustion. Rinse and repeat. Posey is ridiculous. She is hilarious. She is full of personality, confidence, and nonstop entertainment. She’s the kind of dog that makes you laugh every single day just by existing. And beneath all that sass and chunk is a girl who will love her people fiercely and wholeheartedly. If you’re looking for a normal, quiet, low-key dog… Posey is not your girl. If you want a walking potato with main-character energy and endless personality, Posey might just be your soulmate. 🐾💖

Story
Meet Big Ben 🖤🐾 — a survivor who finally gets to rest Big Ben is a 4-year-old bulldog mix who weighs around 70 pounds now—but when he first came into the shelter, he was nothing more than a bag of bones. He was severely emaciated, heartbreakingly thin, and clearly had been without the care he so desperately needed. Thanks to the incredible dedication of the shelter staff, Big Ben slowly but surely put weight back on and began to heal. But healing didn’t mean safety. In a shelter housing over 500 dogs, Big Ben didn’t stand much of a chance. Even after regaining his weight, his odds of leaving were slim to none. He spent much of his time in one of the outdoor kennels, meaning there were days when he quite literally had no roof over his head. While staff did everything they could to rotate dogs inside, the reality of an overflowing shelter meant that dogs like Big Ben were constantly waiting on a miracle. And we watched him wait. Week after week since November, Big Ben was still there. Still overlooked. Still hoping. As cold weather approached, we knew we had to act. Getting this boy into a warm home wasn’t just important—it was urgent. Finally, the perfect foster stepped up, and the moment Big Ben walked into that house, the weight of the world seemed to lift off his shoulders. He climbed onto his foster’s bed, fell asleep almost instantly, and the rest is history. Big Ben is incredible with other dogs, gentle, loving, and just an all-around best boy. He is house trained, does well in a crate, and has adapted beautifully to life in a home—clearly something he had been missing for far too long. He is the kind of dog who fits right in and makes everything feel a little warmer just by being there. Big Ben has survived hunger, cold, and being overlooked in an impossible situation. Now, all he needs is a forever family to show him that the hard part of his life is truly over. If you’re looking for a loyal, easygoing, loving companion who will be grateful for every soft bed and warm night, Big Ben is ready. 🐶❤️
