Hank “Williams” #25121; male; mix breed; estimated age 2 years; approximate weight 55lbs. Hank and several others found themselves on their own when the owners abandoned them without food, water, or shelter. He is currently undergoing slow-kill heartworm treatment. He is neutered and fully vetted. Hank has lots of energy and needs a safe fenced yard where he can run it off! The shelter is a STRESSFUL place and causes a lot of over stimulation in dogs. Hank can be selective with his playmates. Applicants will be required to have a meet and greet with family members and other dogs.

Sam #24205 aka “Smiling Sam” is a male boxer mix that is estimated to be 3 years old and weighs approximately 60 lbs. He is neutered, up-to-date on shots and heartworm negative. This handsome boy has a ‘history’. He took himself to visit the local nursing home in July 2024. Although he meant well and they loved him, he had to vacate the premises. A very very sweet elderly lady that was there volunteering (yes, volunteering) decided to take him home and find his owner or a home. This sweet lady (89 years of age) had no fenced yard and had not had a dog in decades. She took him to the vet and had him neutered, vaccinated, and all the good stuff. She walked this big boy multiple times a day on a leash. He was housebroken and fantastic on a leash when he came in. In an overcrowded shelter we do not have the ability to provide the needed consistency to reinforce these good habits, and he has slipped a little. He is very food motivated and with a little time, I’m sure he will get right back in line. He plays with others but does have an energetic play style. He will be great with proper introductions. We do not have cats in our shelter and can’t advise on his reaction to them.

Mickey #24160; male; mixed breed estimated to be about 3 years old and weighing approximately 50 lbs. Neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, flea/tick, and is on slow-kill for heartworms. This sweet, sweet boy was abandoned by his humans and left to starve. Thankfully a neighbor reported it and we were able to get him into our rescue. Just take a look at that “grin”. It’s not uncommon to find him upside down in his dog bed snoozing away after a good play session. With proper introduction, he should be fine with other dogs. We do not have cats in the shelter and cannot evaluate the dog’s behavior with one.

Bella is the absolute sweetest baby ever, she’s so loving and is a lap dog at heart. She loves to play, and run around. Does great with cats, does NOT like other dogs other than the one male she grew up with. She’s extremely the alpha female type, and while I’ve seen her co-exist with another dog it took some work. She’s an amazing companion.

Vinny is a special guy. He was left at his home when his owners were arrested. We are not sure how long he was left, alone, scared and unsure what was going on. Despite that he is a sweet, loving, silly boy. He loves being his goofy little self while running around waiting for you to give him the attention he fully deserves. There is nothing more important in his world them him and he will let you know that. We are working on manners, but he is picking up on right and wrong quickly. His favorite thing to do it try and get food out of your hands when you fill his food bowl. He knows which one is his kennel and doesn't have any issues going in it. Vinny is in line to get neutered. He is up to date on vaccines but is heartworm positive unfortunately and will need treatment. Don't let that hold you back on asking about this handsome fella.

Buddy was a loose dog that so many loved because he didn't bother anyone but unfortunately one-person didn't like him so they threatened to do harm to him, that is how he ended up here with us. He is full of energy, spunk and a little bit of sass! He has learned to kennel even though he thinks that it isnt fair, he does it anyway. He will entertain himself even if that means throwing his metal food dish up in the air and catching it himself. He is the first one waiting on you when you walk in. He is heartworm negative and up to date on vaccines. He just needs to be neutered and he is good to go!
