Hank “Williams” #25121; male; mix breed; estimated age 2 years; approximate weight 55lbs. Hank and several others found themselves on their own when the owners abandoned them without food, water, or shelter. He is currently undergoing slow-kill heartworm treatment. He is neutered and fully vetted. Hank has lots of energy and needs a safe fenced yard where he can run it off! The shelter is a STRESSFUL place and causes a lot of over stimulation in dogs. Hank can be selective with his playmates. Applicants will be required to have a meet and greet with family members and other dogs.

Sam #24205 aka “Smiling Sam” is a male boxer mix that is estimated to be 3 years old and weighs approximately 60 lbs. He is neutered, up-to-date on shots and heartworm negative. This handsome boy has a ‘history’. He took himself to visit the local nursing home in July 2024. Although he meant well and they loved him, he had to vacate the premises. A very very sweet elderly lady that was there volunteering (yes, volunteering) decided to take him home and find his owner or a home. This sweet lady (89 years of age) had no fenced yard and had not had a dog in decades. She took him to the vet and had him neutered, vaccinated, and all the good stuff. She walked this big boy multiple times a day on a leash. He was housebroken and fantastic on a leash when he came in. In an overcrowded shelter we do not have the ability to provide the needed consistency to reinforce these good habits, and he has slipped a little. He is very food motivated and with a little time, I’m sure he will get right back in line. He plays with others but does have an energetic play style. He will be great with proper introductions. We do not have cats in our shelter and can’t advise on his reaction to them.

Mickey #24160; male; mixed breed estimated to be about 3 years old and weighing approximately 50 lbs. Neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, flea/tick, and is on slow-kill for heartworms. This sweet, sweet boy was abandoned by his humans and left to starve. Thankfully a neighbor reported it and we were able to get him into our rescue. Just take a look at that “grin”. It’s not uncommon to find him upside down in his dog bed snoozing away after a good play session. With proper introduction, he should be fine with other dogs. We do not have cats in the shelter and cannot evaluate the dog’s behavior with one.

Meet Ripley. This beautiful brindle girl has already overcome so much in her short six months of life. Ripley was found on the side of the road, terrified with a cardboard box and blanket. When she first arrived at the shelter, she was understandably very scared and unsure of the world around her. But look at her now. Ripley has come such a long way. She has learned that people can be kind, that she is safe, and that there are so many wonderful things waiting for her. She is friendly, incredibly loving, and absolutely loves getting attention from her people. And of course, she’s still a puppy. That means she’s still working on potty training and learning all those important puppy manners. She’s a smart girl, though, and with patience, consistency, and someone willing to continue teaching her, we know she’ll get there. One of Ripley’s favorite things is playing outside in the pool. There’s something pretty special about watching a once-terrified puppy discover that life can actually be fun. Ripley deserves a family who will continue showing her the love and security she should have had from the very beginning. She has already come so far. Parker is a very strong, handsome pit bull who’s been patiently waiting for his home since early December. At just over a year old, he still has that playful puppy energy and a personality that will keep you smiling. Parker is deaf, but don’t let that fool you. He’s incredibly smart and eager to learn. One of our kennel techs has been working with him using sign language and treats, and he has come such a long way already. He’s very treat motivated and loves having a job to do. His absolute favorite game is tug-of-war. He’s going to win every time too. He gets along well with other dogs and does a great job keeping his kennel clean during the day. Parker is still learning leash manners and currently thinks the leash is just another tug toy, but with a little consistency and continued training, he’ll keep improving. What really makes Parker special is his sweet, goofy personality. He’s full of love, eager to connect with people, and ready for someone who will continue helping him grow. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion and don’t mind losing a few tug-of-war matches, Parker might be your guy. Come meet him and see if he’s the missing piece to your family. Reba may not come with a detailed backstory, but what she does show us every day is just how special she is. This beautiful, laid-back pittie is around two years old and has a heart as soft as her soulful eyes. Reba has been through a lot already. She underwent surgery on both knees for luxating patellas, but she recovered beautifully in foster care and hasn’t let it slow her down one bit. She’s proof that resilience can come wrapped in the sweetest package. She’s a calm, gentle soul who enjoys the simple things in life, like lounging around, soaking up love, and playing outside with other dogs. She’s mostly housebroken and does well with most people, though she can be a little cautious around certain men and didn’t quite warm up to her foster dad. Because of this, she may do best in a home that’s patient and willing to let her build trust at her own pace. Reba isn’t looking for chaos. She’s looking for comfort, consistency, and someone who will love her for exactly who she is. And in return, you’ll get a loyal, sweet companion who just wants to be by your side.
