Story
Sawoop first came into the shelter via animal control after she and another dog (Rosie) were found abandoned in an old building. During Sawoop's time with WAIF, we've learned she doesn't seem to be a fan of other dogs, but she did play nicely with Rosie a few times before Rosie's adoption. Sawoop doesn't have much prior training, but she's learned to sit and lie down in her time with us. Sawoop loves to go out to play fetch or chase the giant herding ball, and she walks nicely on the leash waftershe's had a chance to run and play.

Story
Kenji Cowboy has that sweet, slightly bashful charm that makes you want to earn your way into his heart and inner circle. He is gentle, handsome, and a little unsure when something is brand new, but give him a moment to take it all in and a treat for good measure, and you will quickly see what a lovely young dog he is. Kenji is still figuring out the world, and he approaches it thoughtfully, with soft manners, a curious heart, and an increasingly brave little cowboy spirit. Go watch Kenji Cowboy | The Soft-Spoken Sheriff on YouTube and see this handsome young cowboy! https://youtu.be/DaxrLP8rOvU?si=wHaqU5OLZg_hUok1 Kenji is estimated to be around ten months old, and we believe he may be a Boxer/Pittie mix, but with animal rescue, breeds are always a mystery and never an exact science! He is currently fostered in a loving home with other dogs and has been getting plenty of opportunities to experience life beyond the house too. His foster regularly brings him along for patio lunches and dinners in the city, and Kenji handles those outings with a wonderfully calm demeanor for such a young dog. He is not trying to work the room or introduce himself to every person who passes. He is much more content hanging with his person, watching the world go by, and quietly taking everything in. He has good basic leash skills and is treat motivated and eager to learn, giving his future family a really nice foundation to continue building on. Kenji is dog friendly and wonderfully polite when meeting new dogs. He can be shy at first and prefers a little time to decide that his new acquaintance is, in fact, friend material. Once he warms up, he is a sweet and gentle playmate. He is not the type to barrel into an introduction demanding immediate friendship, and his softer approach makes him especially endearing. One thing that can convince this reserved cowboy to cut loose? The water hose. Kenji loves playing in the water, and it is an adorable glimpse of the silly young dog underneath that initially cautious exterior. He is also a great car companion once aboard. Kenji has not quite cracked the complicated engineering problem of getting himself into the car yet, so he currently appreciates a little boost. Once inside, however, he settles in and rides peacefully and happily. Kenji was polite when introduced to our house cat, although he was clearly unsure what exactly he was supposed to make of this strange little creature. Because he does not currently live with cats, we would recommend some initial boundaries, thoughtful introductions, and supervision if his future home includes a feline friend while everyone gets comfortable with one another. At nine months old, Kenji still has plenty to learn, but there is something really special about the foundation already there. He is gentle, affectionate, observant, dog friendly, easy to take out into the world, and very willing to learn when treats are part of the negotiation. He may need a little encouragement for some of life's firsts, but every new experience is another chance for this sweet cowboy to discover that he can do it. Story
Life with Buster Sweets looks a lot like this: a loyal little sidekick who's always happy to see what you're up to, always ready to join in, and always up for ending the day with a cuddle on the couch. His foster says his favorite thing about him is how sweet he is, how outgoing he becomes once he's comfortable, and how much he genuinely enjoys being part of whatever's happening. He has a wonderful way of making everyday moments just a little bit better, whether that's following you around the house to see what you're doing or hopping onto the couch to snuggle after a fun day. Watch his video and prepare to fall in love with this adorable little sidekick: https://youtu.be/2KRVtz2lcKE?si=s64_Um7j3G7KL0OQ Buster is believed to be approximately 9 months old and currently weighs about 20 pounds. As with any rescue puppy, his exact breed is always a mystery, but our best guess is he's a Boxer and Pittie mix. Whatever combination created him also gave him an adorable face, a fun-loving personality, and a size that we think will stay on the smaller side once he's fully grown. Buster is curious, playful, and always excited to see what the day has in store. Exploring the backyard, checking out new smells, chasing toys, or carrying one around the house... he's convinced life is meant to be enjoyed. He loves being involved in whatever his people are doing and is happiest when he gets to tag along. Whether you're making dinner, working in the yard, or relaxing in the living room, Buster is perfectly content simply being part of it all. One of our favorite things about Buster is the balance he has between his playful side and his affectionate side. Once he's comfortable, his outgoing personality really shines. After he's gotten some playtime in, he's more than happy to climb onto the couch and snuggle up beside you. His foster says he's incredibly sweet and loves being close to his people, making him the kind of dog that's just as rewarding to relax with as he is to play with. Buster is also one smart little guy. He already knows how to sit, and if you happen to have a treat in your hand, you'll definitely have his full attention. Treats are absolutely one of the quickest ways to his heart, and his eagerness to learn makes us think he'll have a lot of fun continuing his training with his future family. His foster says Buster is kennel trained and does very well in his crate. He's also about 90% potty trained. Like any young dog, he still has a small bladder, so he'll do best with regular potty breaks throughout the day as he continues building consistency. Buster enjoys playing with other dogs and would likely love a playful canine companion, but we also think he'd do wonderfully as the only dog as long as he has a family that's excited to include him in everyday life. He's also spent time around children between the ages of 5 and 8 and has been nothing but gentle with them. We think he has all the makings of a wonderful family dog. It's important to remember, though, that Buster can be a little shy when meeting new people or adjusting to new places. Like many rescue dogs, he'll simply need a little time to decompress, settle into his new routine, and let his personality blossom. Once he does, you'll discover the sweet, outgoing little guy his foster has completely fallen in love with. Buster has such a wonderful balance to him. He's playful without being over-the-top, affectionate without being clingy, and curious enough to make every day a little more fun. More than anything, he simply wants to be included. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will happily join you for life's adventures, make you smile with his goofy personality, and then curl up beside you at the end of the day, Buster is ready to make himself right at home. We are willing to test Buster Sweets with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69ead1d4ebec3114810daf3b Questions? Meet Leo Little Romeo A Lover, Not a Fighter! 🖤 Some puppies steal your shoes. Some steal your socks. Leo? He steals your heart, and he doesn't even have to try. Check out his adorable video to fall in love at first watch! Meet Leo Little Romeo, an adorable Boxer/Cane Corso mix (our best guess!) with the sweetest little soul and a face that could get away with just about anything. Seriously, one look into those big puppy eyes and you're done for! Leo is a lover through and through. He absolutely adores being held, snuggled, and loved on. If there's an opportunity to curl up in someone's arms, you better believe he's taking it! He's affectionate, gentle, and happiest when he's close to his people. But our little boy isn't all cuddles! He enjoys playing, exploring, and getting his paws on a good toy. Unfortunately for Leo, his sister Leia has other plans for those toys. 😂 During playtime, she would repeatedly steal whatever he was playing with, and instead of protesting, Leo would simply look up at me with those big brown eyes like, "Well... she's got that one now. Do you happen to have another?" And THAT is Leo in a nutshell. Just a sweet, easygoing little guy who would rather ask for another toy than argue over the first one. He's also one smart little cookie! Leo is already showing how observant and people oriented he is, and with a family to guide him as he grows, we think he's going to blossom into an incredible companion. Leo has all the fun, curiosity, and silliness you'd expect from a puppy, wrapped up in one incredibly lovable little package. He'll need a family ready for all the adventures, learning, and responsibilities that come with raising a growing pup, but we have a feeling he'll repay them with a whole lot of love. And if you happen to catch him with his tiny tongue sticking out? Don't worry. That's just part of his charm. 💙 Leo Little Romeo is ready to steal someone's heart for good. Could it be yours? Story
Meet George, a one-year-old goofball with a heart full of love and a body that seems to be powered entirely by joy. George is the kind of puppy who believes the world exists to be loved, kissed, and played with, preferably all at once. From the moment you meet him, he wiggles his whole squishy little body straight into your space, climbs right into your lap, and reminds you that no one is a stranger—just a friend he hasn’t kissed yet. His sweet, goofy puppy smile and endlessly wagging, longgg tail (which functions more like a propeller) make it impossible not to fall for him instantly. George absolutely adores people. He is affectionate, cuddly, and so eager to be part of whatever you’re doing. He would be thrilled to be your shadow, your couch companion, your adventure buddy, and your reason to laugh every single day. Despite his busy puppy energy, he has a soft, loving side and is happiest when he’s close to his humans, soaking up attention and giving out kisses like it’s his full-time job. Watch his video, then you'll officially be in love! https://youtu.be/slAlUsSrZpc?si=DIMvZoA5PTxIgSY2 When George isn’t loving on his people, he is playing—because play is truly his greatest passion in life. He is incredibly dog-friendly and greets every dog the exact same way: an immediate play bow, lots of kisses, and then straight into joyful chaos. Confident dogs, shy dogs, playful dogs, aloof dogs—George loves them all. He is a rough-and-rowdy, pushy puppy player who thrives with dogs that enjoy that style of play. He loves running, chasing games, tug, sharing toys, and even lazy play sessions. One of his most endearing quirks is his signature move of ducking under things like they’re his own personal tunnels, because clearly that’s the more fun route. George currently lives with multiple dogs and does great in a pack, and he would absolutely love having dog siblings in his future home. That said, he also loves his people just as much and could be happy as an only dog if his humans are ready to keep him engaged and active. George is still very much a puppy and comes with all that happy, bouncy energy. He walks beautifully on leash and checks in constantly, turning to you with eye contact when you say “let’s go,” making him a wonderful companion for walks, outings, and adventures. He would be the perfect dog to take everywhere with you, always ready for the next experience as long as he’s by your side. He does live with cats and approaches them with sweet, goofy intentions, but he can be a little too playful at times. He doesn’t want to harm them—he just wants them to play, endlessly, even when they are very clearly done. Because of this, a cat-free home would be ideal. However, we do think he could go into a home with kitty friends. If he were to live with cats, he would need a playful dog companion to redirect his energy, along with cats who have safe spaces to escape and take a break. George loves kids and does well with them, but he is a growing boy with a lot of enthusiasm and can be a bit rough in his excitement. Older kids who can handle his bouncy play and occasional hops of love would be the best fit. He would be an amazing family dog; he’s playful and cuddly, the perfect formula for a kiddo’s best friend! As for his future home, George is an extremely adaptable pup. He could do well in an apartment with an active family or in a home with a yard where he can zoom and burn off some of that puppy energy. Continued training will help him channel all that excitement, but his eagerness to engage and love people makes him a joy to work with. George is, at his core, a silly, affectionate, playful little soul who wants nothing more than to love hard and live life to the fullest. If you’re looking for a dog who will make you laugh, keep you moving, and love you with his entire wiggly body, George is ready to be your best friend. 💙 Ready to welcome this goofball into your life?
