Story
William went to the SunDome for the March Muttness event and did amazing! He was quiet for the whole event and walked with both the staff and the public. William had no issue being petted or approached by the crowd while kenneled and loved getting treats. He spend most the night looking around and stoically watching all the action.Meet William, an 8-year-old male Boxer mix.William was tied to a tree at a local park and brought in by animal control. William has been in a home because he is well cared for and already neutered. William gets excited to go out in the park and does pull on his leash to get to all the cool smells. He keeps a clean kennel and would love a yard to call his own. This pet is available for adoption on 11/16/23 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.

Story
Meet Chaze, a 3-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix.Chaze was picked up by animal control in the lower valley. He seems to be used to doing his own thing, but at the same is also very big on affection when he feels its the time. Chazes' past is unknown but he does have a long scar down his back that indicates it hasn't been all rainbows and butterflies.Chaze has been in a foster with an employee and he is doing amazing. He is working on his leash manners when going on walks, but overall does pretty well on the leash. He seems to be potty trained as long he is taken out on time, and seems to prefer men over women but loves the attentions and love from everyone! Chaze is a little too interested in cats and would probably do best in a home without one. He has met a small dog while in foster and did well but was very excited when meeting a large dog, so a meet and greet is recommended with any other animals in the household prior to adoption. He is also the perfect gentleman when going out. He went with his foster to go get her hair done and hung out in the salon with everyone. We would love a home where he can lay around and do his own thing but also have a nice fenced in yard where he can safely be himself and time to bond and hangout with you! This pet is available for adoption on 9/29/23 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Birch, a 5-year-old male Pit Bull mix.Birch got his name because he was dumped at the shelter location on Birchfield rd. When staff was out feeding the feral lot cats, Birch limped right up for pets. He didn't seem to mind the cats and showed zero interest. Once Birch got some attention he followed shelter staff straight in the back door. Birch is a very handsome boy with a solid 65 pound build. His history is unknown but he is limping and has a scar on one leg too. Birch has a good body condition so was eating regular meals prior to his abandonment. He is looking for a forever home with a nice yard and a comfy dog bed. This pet is available for adoption on 10/19/23 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
