Story
Meet Elvira, a one-and-a-half-year-old Pit mix weighing 57 pounds. Elvira is the kind of dog who makes you smile the moment you meet her. With her beautiful dark grey coat, expressive ears, and always-wagging tail, she radiates joy and affection. Elvira came to us after being hit by a car, but this tough girl bounced back fast! Thankfully, X-rays showed no broken bones, and she’s been making a speedy recovery ever since. Her spirit is as strong as her heart is big. She’s friendly with everyone she meets – humans and dogs alike – and has already made a great impression on a doggy friend during her time here. Elvira lives for treats, loves attention, and will gladly be your shadow if it means more cuddles (and maybe a snack or two). If you`re looking for a loving, happy-go-lucky companion who’s overcome the odds and still greets life with a tail wag, Elvira is ready to meet you. This pet is available for adoption on 9/26/2025 at 1:52 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Roxy, a one and a half year old Pit mix weighing around 70 pounds.Roxy is a happy, outgoing, and silly girl who’s ready to take on the world—one tail wag at a time! Everything is new and exciting to her, and she greets life with joy and curiosity. Whether it’s going for a walk, meeting new people, or just exploring the backyard, Roxy is all in!She loves her walks and is great with all people, including the finder’s older kids. While staying with them, she was also potty trained, which is a great start for her future home! Roxy is strong on leash and could use some guidance to help her learn not to pull—she’s just so excited about everything around her. Roxy has met another dog while with us and did very well, we think she would do great in a home with another playful dog or as an only dog.Her goofy personality is matched by her adorable ears, which definitely have a mind of their own. Roxy’s the kind of dog who will make you laugh daily, keep you on your toes, and cuddle up with you after a fun-filled day. If you’re looking for a lovable goofball who’s eager to learn and be your adventure buddy, Roxy might just be your perfect match! This pet is available for adoption on 8/30/2025 at 12:24 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Ace!Ace is a 6½-year-old Blue Pitbull with a heart as big as his smile and a love for the simple things in life—like a comfy couch and a good nap! This handsome guy is the definition of a chill companion. He’s happiest lounging by your side, soaking up attention, and enjoying a relaxed day at home. While Ace is a total sweetheart with people, we do recommend a meet-and-greet with any potential dog friends before adoption, just to make sure everyone gets along.Ace is looking for a home that appreciates his calm, easygoing nature and will give him the love and comfort he deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal buddy to share the couch (and maybe a few snacks), Ace is your guy! Please do your breed research before adopting a Terrier mix. They can be a bit stubborn at times and need lots of physical and mental stimulus to keep them happy. Terrier mixes can be strong-willed and need an equally determined person to keep them in line. Terriers are fun, athletic and smart. Many people have fallen in love with them over the years, but it is important to keep their breed needs in mind if you are considering adding one to your household. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane-Ellensburg Shelter If you recognize this animal, please contact the adoption center at 509-925-7387 Ready to adopt?
