Hiya! I’m Kirby A 4-year-old, 43-lb orange & white, freckle-faced, neutered Brittany boy with a heart full of love and a tail that’s always ready to wag! I might be a little shy at first , but once we’re friends—oh boy! I turn into a happy, playful, snuggly guy who lives for yard time with my humans. If you step outside with me, just know… you’ve officially made my whole day. I’m pretty easy-going and independent, too. I do fine around other dogs as long as everyone uses their manners, but honestly? I’d be thrilled to be your one-and-only best buddy. More love for me, right? Fun facts about me: &#226&#156&#168 I’m a kennel superstar (seriously, I’m very tidy) &#226&#156&#168 I adore rawhides, toys, and cookies &#226&#156&#168 Belly rubs are basically my love language &#226&#156&#168 I don’t fence fight—I’m way too classy for that What I’m dreaming of: A fenced yard to play and explore Toys to keep me entertained Treats (obviously) A human who wants a loyal, loving sidekick If you’re looking for a sweet, playful boy who will be your shadow, your cheerleader, and your very best friend—I think we might be a perfect match. Story
Meet Birdy – Your Sweet Little Shadow Hello everyone! My name is Birdy, and I’m a Tri-colored French Brittany/Munsterlander 2.6 yr 35-lb bundle of sweetness just waiting to find my forever family. If you’re looking for a loving companion who wants nothing more than to be close to her people, I might just be your girl. I’m what they call a professional cuddle bug. I absolutely love being a lap dog, and if you sit down, don’t be surprised if I gently curl up beside you. Belly rubs are one of my favorite things in the whole world—if you stop too soon, I might give you a little nose nudge (or a tiny playful nibble) just to remind you I’m still waiting! My tail is almost always wagging because I’m just a happy, affectionate girl who loves being around people. Here are a few things my foster family says about me: Sweet and affectionate – I love cuddles and attention Eager to please and quick to learn Crates nicely and settles well Gets along with other dogs, especially respectful male dogs Loves antlers and Nylabones for chewing Learning leash walking and “stay/off” commands I’m still working on a few things, like most pups. I do have a bit of a prey drive for birds and small critters (I am Birdy after all!).  I need a physical fence, I love to play with my foster sibling, and I can get grumpy if my 4-legged foster sibling wants to take my food.  All manageable. I’m also pretty curious, so my family should be careful around doors because I can be a little sneaky when adventure calls. I would do best with respectful kids and a loving family who enjoys having a sweet dog nearby—because I really love being close to my people. I may not care much about chasing a ball, but if you’re looking for a gentle soul who loves cuddles, companionship, and chew toys, I promise to fill your home with love and wagging tails. All I need now is a forever family to call my own. Could that be you? Important Medical Update for Birdy: Birdy is currently recovering beautifully from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and continues to improve every day. When she first came into rescue in October 2025, she had been very sick, but thanks to thorough veterinary care—including extensive testing and biopsies—we were able to rule out more serious conditions and determine the best path forward for her health. Today, Birdy is doing very well and feeling better all the time. She is currently thriving on a special diet, Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein dry food, which helps keep her tummy happy and healthy. With this diet and continued loving care, she has been making wonderful progress over the past month. Because she is still finishing her recovery, Birdy may need a little more frequent potty breaks than some dogs, but she continues to improve as her system heals. The adoption fee for KS/Birdy, who lives in Olathe, KS  is $350,  which helps to offset our vetting and allows NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members.  If you are interested in making KS/Birdy part of your family, please complete the online application by visiting www.nbran.org .  Please let your state coordinator know so we can get the ball rolling.  Also, please email the state coordinator of KS/Birdy-Melinde Waddle @ macgammy@gmail.com  Once approved by your state coordinator, I will setup talking to the foster of Birdy. Transportation can be arranged up  to 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for at least the last 100 miles.  March 7, 2026, 3:26 pm

Story
Maple is a 2.5-year-old French Brittany who packs a whole lot of charm into her perfect 25-pound frame. Her foster family lovingly calls her “Meatball,” and honestly…it fits. She’s adorable, goofy, snuggly, and absolutely devoted to her people. Maple LOVES car rides, plush toys, and curling up next to you for belly rubs. She didn’t get much freedom or enrichment in her early life and likely spent most of her time in a kennel, so she came to us needing a refresher on potty training and some basic house habits. She’s made steady progress but still needs a patient family willing to keep her routine consistent. She can be a bit curious and may check out items that aren’t technically “hers,” so keeping tempting things out of reach and offering plenty of dog-safe toys will set her up for success. Maple does well in her kennel when her people are out of the house. She may give a little protest bark at first (she just has to make sure you know she has notes), but she settles down and rests quietly once she realizes she’s safe. Maple is not a dog that can live with or closely interact with other dogs. Through training, she has made progress in calmly seeing dogs at a distance with positive reinforcement, but pushing those interactions too quickly can cause anxiety for her. For her comfort and safety, she must be an only dog, and a fenced-in yard (ideally privacy fenced) would suit her best so she can explore and enjoy the outdoors stress-free. She’s playful, affectionate, and incredibly people-oriented. Maple has mastered “sit", and is working on more tricks, but needs a little patience since she isn’t very food motivated. Maple is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Now she’s just waiting for a family who sees how special she is and can give her the structure, love, and dog-free home she deserves. Maple is currently in foster care in Wisconsin and has an adoption donation fee of $400.  If you are interested in adopting her and have been approved to adopt, let your state coordinator know you are interested in her.  If you haven’t yet done so, please go to: https://www.nbran.org/adopt/adoption-application to fill out an application.  Your state coordinator will contact you and take you through the approval process.  If your application looks like a possible fit for her, your coordinator will contact Maple’s coordinator and continue the screening process. Maple’s state coordinator is Hallie Barbara. She can be reached at Minnesotabrittany@gmail.com for questions or inquires.   Thank you for considering this sweet girl.  March 7, 2026, 3:26 pm

Story
Zazu is a sweet, enthusiastic dog with lots of energy for his age. He’s also a great cuddler though once he’s gotten a little energy out. He’s very affectionate and a good listener with an e-collar and consistent training. He would do well in an active house being able to go out for walks, or going camping and hiking. He’s gotten along with any other dogs he’s met, but does bark through the fence at dogs. He’s aggressive with cats. I think he would do best in a house with older children (8+). He has a kennel, e-collar, normal collar, leash, and toys. He is microchipped and it can be transferred to a new owner.

These pups are in Fate, Texas too!

Story
Meet Valen! Valen is an approximately 1.5-year-old female Pointer/Dalmatian mix who is now ready to find her forever home. She was found running loose near Hwy 276 and 548 on 3/6/26 and, sadly, no one came forward to reclaim her. Now this sweet girl is hoping her next chapter leads to a loving family of her own. Valen has already won over the hearts of the shelter staff with her gentle, affectionate personality. She is a very social and happy girl who enjoys meeting new people and gladly soaks up any love and attention she can get. She walks nicely on a leash and seems eager to spend time with her humans. Because Valen is still new to the shelter, we are still learning how she does with other dogs. If you currently have a dog at home, a meet and greet will be required prior to adoption to ensure a good fit for everyone. Valen's adoption fee is $125, which includes her spay, microchip, rabies vaccination, boosters to date, and heartworm test. Her spay surgery, rabies vaccine, and heartworm test are scheduled for Wednesday, 03/11/26. This appointment date is non-negotiable and required in accordance with Texas state law, so adopters should plan accordingly. If you're ready to give this sweet, loving girl the second chance she deserves, you can apply to adopt Valen here: https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ Valen is ready to trade shelter life for a couch, a family, and a lifetime of love.  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com.
