Story
Meet Sally This beautiful girl is an absolute angel. Please don’t let her breed send you running. Instead, please take a moment to read about her and you’ll know how special she is. Sally suffered all her life and very nearly didn’t make it out of a kill shelter. She was over-bred and abused. She suffered a wealth of health issues – torn ear, severe hernia, and heartworms. Her pain and misery went unattended until we were able to rescue her, thanks to an outpouring of support. To say she’s been an angel since being in our care is an understatement. This beauty is amazing. Sally is a two-year-old Staffordshire terrier. She has a pretty white coat with patches, warm, friendly eyes and an enthused disposition. Sally only weighs about 52 lbs. She is an absolute love. She’s sweet and gentle, silly and fun. Since arriving, Sally has been a happy girl. She is a survivor. She is so grateful to be safe and loved for the first time ever. She has a lot of positive energy. She loves being with people. She loves walking and sniffing. She greets every day with joy and affection for those around her. She does not seem to like other dogs or cats, though, so will be adopted out as an only pet. She’s not so much aggressive, but prefers to be left alone. Given what her previous life was like and what she may have been exposed to, it’s no wonder she prefers her space. But for people, she’s all in. She’s very smart. She loves going on car rides and adventures. She makes us smile with her joy. Sally is one-of-a-kind. She is going to make for a wonderful companion for that person or family willing to open their heart and home to her. If you’re looking for your one and only, Sally may be for you. If interested in Sally, please submit an application online at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please call our shelter at 706-865-4135. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoptions and meet and greets are being scheduled by appointment only. Please call our office, email us or complete an application and someone will be in touch just as soon as they can. Location: 4823 Helen Hwy., Sautee, GA 30571, Phone: 706-865-4135 Email: smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net Our shelter in Sautee GA is located about 3 miles south of the alpine town of Helen in northeast GA.

Story
Meet Mr. Randy Howledge! I found Randy on January 2, 2023, sitting outside on the highway in Fairburn. He was very underweight and flea-infested. We took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with flea allergy dermatitis and hookworms, which have been treated and healed. Randy is miro-chipped. The previous owner never answered the vet's calls. Randy has been exposed to cats, which he does not care for, and only chases if bothered by them. He is good with larger dogs and dogs his size. Randy only acts like a bully and goes after dogs that are much smaller than him, or, if they bark/chase him. We have been working to expose and correct this behavior. Due to his condition found, Randy is very food driven. He has a large mouth and snaps at treats. We have a small child and this proved to be an issue. Randy does not mean to snip, but due to his size, it's best to have a home with larger children/no kids. He is very cuddly and only wants love. He will need an experienced owner. He's a love.

Story
Sophie is 1 yr and 10 mos. She is a full blooded Blue Nose Pitbull. She was the last out of six puppies. 4 of which were given to outsiders and one to a family member. Sophie being the only one left with no one seeming to be interested in taking her, I decided to keep her instead of giving her to a shelter. Luckily she was able to grow up with the sibling that was given to a family member. She is so adorable and laid back. She has never been without her sister and they get along great. She is good with people and shy around kids. She is non aggressive and very friendly. Looking for a loving person or family to just treat her like one of the family.

Story
Rodeo had been tied out since he was a puppy to a tree. There was no dog house so when it rained he was wet. If it was snowing he was cold 24 hours 7 days a week. When another rescue tried to take him the owners refused to let him go. When he turned about 2 they moved and left him tied to a tree to starve and die. The rescue took him in and looked for a home for months but no one was interested in him so they took him to the shelter. So the day he was to be killed we adopted him. He likes kids and especially women since he stays at my office with many women. He is a big 60 pound paper weight. He sometimes gets on the desks or in our laps. He would be best to have a work from home parent to spoil him. He is a climber so he can get over chain link fences in the corners. He is now about 9 years old and its time he knows there are good loving people out there that would love to make him a part of the family. Message 770-503-5402 so you can meet your new bestfriend
