Story
Meet Butch, a charming 28-pound bundle of love! This sweet boy has a unique appearance, with an under bite and snaggle tooth that only adds to his endearing personality. Butch is a 'velcro' dog, always eager to stay close to his favorite humans and shower them with affection. House trained, Butch can navigate indoor life with ease, but prefers to stay out of a crate. While his playful jumps and gentle love bites are full of good intentions, a home without small children might be best for him. If you're looking for a loyal, loving friend who has a smile that melts hearts, Butch is the perfect dog for you! Please apply on the MACS Friends website today!April 18, 2024, 6:22 pm

Story
Flapjack is ready for the dog days of summer and still looking for her forever home. She loves all humans of all ages and participated in multiple school events. We do believe should do best with children that are a little older in her home. Flapjack is 5 years old and just under 50lbs. She is potty trained and crate trained. She loves to play tug of war or watch tv on the couch next to you. She will roll her potato like body over for belly rubs. Flapjack would do best as an only pet but would be happy to have human siblings. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.

Story
Hattie Lucky is as sweet as she is adorable! This small English Bulldog mix is the perfect size at 35 pounds. She is happiest when she can be with her person and will follow you from room to room, in case you want to stop and give her some pets and kisses. Hattie Lucky is young, so she still likes to chew on things, but is learning that dog toys are the best chew toys. She's house trained, crate trained, and walks nicely on a leash. She would do great as an only pet, but she also loves to play and enjoys playful dogs. If your dog would rather just be left alone to snooze on the couch, she's not a good match because she will drive him or her crazy trying to play.    It's important to note that she does not like to share food with other dogs and should be fed separately and not given access to the kitchen during meal prep and family dinner if she has a doggie sibling. If she's the only dog, she has no problem being around humans while they are preparing and eating their food. As is common for English Bulldogs, she will likely have higher vet bills than the average dog so do your research and then apply to adopt this little snuggle bug if she sounds like the one for you. PS - She snores but even that is adorable.   An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions. We verify rental policies and adhere to any regulations. Please ensure you understand those restrictions before choosing a dog.          April 18, 2024, 7:49 pm

Story
Meet Buddy Buddy is a delightful boy with so much potential. So far, he’s lived a hard and lonely life, spending all of his years 24/7 living at the end of a chain. He was left behind when his original owner moved and his new “owners” left him on the chain, throwing food out to him as needed. A good Samaritan noticed Buddy’s plight and begged his owners to be able to feed and water him and love him, until the day she could get them to surrender him. Thankfully, that day has arrived! We are now on a quest to find Buddy a forever loving home, where he will be safe and protected and shown love and comfort. Buddy is a big ole boy, a gentle giant. We’re not quite sure of his age, but he could be a lot younger than he might appear given that he’s been neglected so badly. Not being able to move about much, Buddy packed on some pounds and is currently on a diet, which has been quite successful. He goes into our play yards, but sadly, Buddy only ever goes 20 feet from the gate, not more, mostly less. Twenty feet is exactly how long Buddy’s chain was and he doesn’t yet know that he can safely move throughout the yard. It’s tough undoing so many years of neglect, but Buddy is resilient and we know that being at our shelter and hopefully soon in a home filled with love, he’ll begin to trust and explore. A containment fence will do Buddy good. He’ll feel safe in its confines, yet not chained anymore. Buddy likes sitting in the sun. But more than that, Buddy loves being inside having a safe place to sleep every night and he loves his comfy blankets. Buddy also loves attention. He is great with people. Calm and gentle, yet eager to be with them. He is uncertain about other dogs still and we’ll test him with cats. He is still decompressing and every day his personality comes out more and more. This handsome boy deserves so much more than life has offered him so far. He will make for a great companion. He’ll be perfect for an older person or family, where not too much is expected of him, just his companionship and friendship. Buddy will be a loving and loyal companion. He’ll love being with his people and will give his love 100 percent when given the chance. He is a gem. We so hope that his stay with us will be short so he can get on with living a happy and safe life he never knew existed. If interested in giving Buddy his dream life, please submit an application online at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please call our shelter at 706-865-4135. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoptions and meet and greets are being scheduled by appointment only. Please email us or complete an application and someone will be in touch just as soon as they can. Location: 4823 Helen Hwy., Sautee, GA 30571, Phone: 706-865-4135
