Story
Nyna is a sweetheart - obedient and playful, and just as cute as she can be. Nyna came to the shelter on 10/20/23 as a lost dog, and nobody came to claim her, though they must surely have looked for her. She's a beauty, inside and out. Nyna is about 3 years old and weighs 62 pounds. She is current on vaccines and spayed; she will be heartworm tested and microchipped upon adoption. Come meet her in Run 850 using ID#650154. She's waiting patiently for you. Please note, all of the pet listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers, not shelter staff. If this pet came in as lost (not an owner surrender), we don't know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When calling the shelter about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER, names are oftentimes made up by volunteers. This pet and many others are available for adoption from the Cobb County Animal Shelter 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, call (770) 499-4136 for more information. Shelter hours are: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, CLOSED Mondays & Holidays. The shelter prefers people to make an appointment, go to - https://nqa3.nemoqappointment.com/Booking/Booking/Index/as65fg9dr953 and select Adoption. You can also show up between 10:30 & 4:00 Tues. thru Sun. (shelter closes at 4:30), you might have to wait a few minutes until someone can help you. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heart worm or combo test and a microchip. When you book an appointment, it doesn't reserve a particular pet for you. Thank you for considering a Cobb pet!

Story
This stunningly beautiful pup is Doris! At the shelter, we could tell this sweet girl was overwhelmed by all of the loud noises, constant new people and dogs, and strange smells. She hid in the back of her kennel and cowered, and no one was interested in adopting her. But whenever anyone took the time to go inside and meet her, she simply melted into them. She seeks affection, reassurance, and a gentle touch. Her tail wags so fast when anyone talks to her, and she's very eager to please - she already knows sit and shake! She stole the hearts of all the volunteers with her sweet, gentle demeanor. Now in foster, Doris is learning to open up and simply be a dog again! She loves playing with her foster siblings and snuggling up on a comfy bed. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/psVVPFNqcsI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1TqJ4GD76I https://www.youtube.com/shorts/jn0Mn3Mi7qg

Story
Coco is a sweet 6-year-old girl that loves to be with people. We have had a house full people around her in the last few years including many kids and never had an issue. She is generally well-behaved and we don't kennel her when we leave. She knows basic commands as well as shake, roll over, and will play dead when we say "bang". She has allergies and they require some form of year-round allergy management or she will get to scratching and end up with an ear or skin infection. She has had leash aggression in the past, which is why I struggle to board her when I am gone. However, when introduced to other dogs around her size without a leash, she has done great. We even had another dog in our home for 6 months and neither were kenneled when we were not at home. Unfortunately, due to a divorce, the other dog has left the house and Coco is very sad without her friend. My ex is unwilling to take her because he doesn't want to deal with the vet/allergy expense.

Story
Meet Sally This beautiful girl is an absolute angel. Please don’t let her breed send you running. Instead, please take a moment to read about her and you’ll know how special she is. Sally suffered all her life and very nearly didn’t make it out of a kill shelter. She was over-bred and abused. She suffered a wealth of health issues – torn ear, severe hernia, and heartworms. Her pain and misery went unattended until we were able to rescue her, thanks to an outpouring of support. To say she’s been an angel since being in our care is an understatement. This beauty is amazing. Sally is a two-year-old Staffordshire terrier. She has a pretty white coat with patches, warm, friendly eyes and an enthused disposition. Sally only weighs about 52 lbs. She is an absolute love. She’s sweet and gentle, silly and fun. Since arriving, Sally has been a happy girl. She is a survivor. She is so grateful to be safe and loved for the first time ever. She has a lot of positive energy. She loves being with people. She loves walking and sniffing. She greets every day with joy and affection for those around her. She does not seem to like other dogs or cats, though, so will be adopted out as an only pet. She’s not so much aggressive, but prefers to be left alone. Given what her previous life was like and what she may have been exposed to, it’s no wonder she prefers her space. But for people, she’s all in. She’s very smart. She loves going on car rides and adventures. She makes us smile with her joy. Sally is one-of-a-kind. She is going to make for a wonderful companion for that person or family willing to open their heart and home to her. If you’re looking for your one and only, Sally may be for you. If interested in Sally, please submit an application online at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please call our shelter at 706-865-4135. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoptions and meet and greets are being scheduled by appointment only. Please call our office, email us or complete an application and someone will be in touch just as soon as they can. Location: 4823 Helen Hwy., Sautee, GA 30571, Phone: 706-865-4135 Email: smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net Our shelter in Sautee GA is located about 3 miles south of the alpine town of Helen in northeast GA.
