Story
Rocco has spent months waiting for a place to call home. At just 10 months old, he’s still learning what it means to feel safe, to trust, and to let his guard down. Found alongside another dog, his past is a mystery, but one thing is clear—this sweet, loyal boy is ready to find a family who will give him the love and patience he needs to truly shine. Once Rocco knows he can trust you, his true personality starts to emerge. He’s affectionate and playful, eager to soak up every bit of love and attention. He’s the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation—he loves going for walks just as much as he loves curling up for a nap. He’s already house and crate trained and knows basic commands like sit, stay, and lay down. While Rocco adores his people, he needs a little extra time to warm up to strangers, especially men. He’s also selective with other dogs and needs slow introductions to feel comfortable. Because of his nervous nature, he wouldn’t do well in a home with children. What Rocco needs most is a calm, patient family willing to show him that the world isn’t such a scary place. He’s looking for someone who will give him the time he needs to trust, and in return, he’ll offer a lifetime of unwavering loyalty and love. If you can be that person for Rocco, he’s more than ready to meet you. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.
