Story
Rocco has spent months waiting for a place to call home. At just 10 months old, he’s still learning what it means to feel safe, to trust, and to let his guard down. Found alongside another dog, his past is a mystery, but one thing is clear—this sweet, loyal boy is ready to find a family who will give him the love and patience he needs to truly shine. Once Rocco knows he can trust you, his true personality starts to emerge. He’s affectionate and playful, eager to soak up every bit of love and attention. He’s the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation—he loves going for walks just as much as he loves curling up for a nap. He’s already house and crate trained and knows basic commands like sit, stay, and lay down. While Rocco adores his people, he needs a little extra time to warm up to strangers, especially men. He’s also selective with other dogs and needs slow introductions to feel comfortable. Because of his nervous nature, he wouldn’t do well in a home with children. What Rocco needs most is a calm, patient family willing to show him that the world isn’t such a scary place. He’s looking for someone who will give him the time he needs to trust, and in return, he’ll offer a lifetime of unwavering loyalty and love. If you can be that person for Rocco, he’s more than ready to meet you. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Stop your search! You have found Hoover. Want a dog who's face is as cute as it is squishy? Want a dog that will hang at the park with you yet also snore on your couch in the middle of a workday like it's his job? Can we see him chilling on a boat, snow mobile or riding shotgun on the way to anywhere? Absolutely. Hoover was found as a stray not long ago and he was never claimed so here we are. We do not know anything about his past so we are focusing on his future. We know he is a super fun boy, says a big no thanks to the feline types, and says come play with me to all human types. He may like another dog friend though with slow intros but they must meet his level of sheer coolness to hang with him longterm. No idea about children, we don't keep them at the shelter. Is he housetrained? Your guess is as good as ours, we found him outdoors, but any dog can learn the ropes. He is guesstimated at 2-3 years young and weighing in at a hot #55 lbs. If you want a Hoover in your life, be sure to fill out an app because this boy has 1 paw out the door.

Story
Thistle is a sweet 1.5 year old female we adopted about a year ago. She loves to cuddle and run around in the backyard but she is dog aggressive (must be the only dog) and does not like our 2 young children. Thistle would be best in an adult only home with owners that either work from home or are home a lot. She loves attention and definitely needs a fenced backyard to run off her energy in. She is afraid of car rides and walks, 2 things that could be improved on if we had the time to work on. She has worked with professional dog trainers and we would have them help show you all that she has learned. As much as we would miss her, we can’t have her around our kids.

Story
Meet Rosie! Rosie's journey to FMAR began with heartbreak. After tragically losing her original owner in a car accident, a close family friend brought her to us in hopes of finding her a second chance at love. Since then, Rosie has shown just how strong, affectionate, and resilient she truly is. Rosie is the perfect mix of cuddly and active. Whether you're heading out for a walk, exploring new places, or just relaxing at home, she's always eager to be by your side. She can be a little nervous in the car, but with time and reassurance, she'll become more confident on the road. This smart girl already knows her basic commands-Sit, Stay, Down, Come, and No-and she listens attentively. She's fully crate-trained and potty trained, even letting you know when it's time for a bathroom break. Rosie is currently in a loving long-term foster home, where she's thriving. Her foster family reports that she's doing wonderfully-settled, happy, and well-adjusted in a home environment. They're committed to giving her all the support and care she needs until the perfect forever family comes along. She can be a little jumpy when meeting new people, so she'd do best in a home with older, calmer children who can help her stay relaxed. Rosie enjoys the company of other dogs and seems to prefer male dog companions. Though she absolutely loves people, Rosie makes an excellent little watchdog-she'll let you know if someone's nearby with a bark or two, just to make sure you're aware. If you're looking for a loyal, loving, and spirited dog who's ready to be your best friend, Rosie might be the one. She's full of heart and just waiting to share it with the right person or family-could that be you? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rosie is currently in a Foster Home. If you would like to meet Rosie, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care she has have received. **Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

***Callie is in a foster home, so she is not at the kennel. If you are interested in her, please fill out the application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch. Thank you.*** Oh my gosh, Callie’s coloring is so beautiful! She is estimated to be about 6 months old and weighs 30 pounds right now. Here are a few nice facts about her: Very affectionate Likes to lean in and be close Needy Most content in your lap A cutie patootie Will need to learn to be on her own, so structure and balanced time away from her adopters will be important A little shy Comes out of her shell with toys She seeks reassurance and guidance from you Likes to nibble your chin, so may be too much for some young children Needs work on jumping up for attention and structure in in her life Needs a home where any children are at least 8 years old If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Callie would love to meet them. She has a soft and playful approach with other dogs but can be a bit rude while playing. If you are interested in Callie and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. If you are up for it, we can discuss. We cover all needed vet care. The adoption fee is $275. Please apply through our website: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt
